@GunValkyrie It's only playable on the Series consoles unfortunately. The instant switching between the two worlds wasn't possible on older consoles according to the developers.

Live-action video? Odd! Not watching it though, as I want to be surprised when I play the game myself.

As it happens I'm currently replaying Dead Space for the first time in a decade or so. Alas, it's still a fun game but not as good as I remember it to be. The constant jump scares make for quite a numbing experience and the story is not very gripping, but the gameplay luckily is still satisfying and the sound design is excellent.

Quite a lot to look forward to, but I don't think Elden Ring will make 2021 unfortunately. Also for Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi fans: in a couple of weeks Cyber Shadow will be released (also on game pass) , which looks to be an excellent homage.

The thing I can most remember about it was the size of it, as it was positively enormous! I'm sure it's larger still, but when I unpacked my PS5 behemoth I thought, well, at least it's not as big as the original xbox!

Picked up Rare Replay for a fiver. Talk about value for money!

Got both my PS5 and series S in an IKEA TV unit with room for a couple of retro consoles to boot!

Have preinstalled The Medium. Funny that. Not trying to get my hopes up, but what with the involvement of Yamaoka the least I expect is an atmospheric score.

Good call about Two Point Hospital, which was my game of the year.

I'm probably picking up Castlevania Lords of Shadow as I loved it back on the 360.

Just got myself a Series S from the wife so I reckon I'll be checking lots of stuff out on gamepass. Happy days!

@Olliemar28 I only recently played that collection for the first time and by golly, that was an awful experience.

It's not the worst game I've played, but possibly my biggest disappointment: Resident Evil 5. What a massive turd after the magnificent 4.

Good to hear. I'm currently holding off buying games (and working on my backlog) so I can play them on my new ps5 with shorter loading times.

Doesn't make a difference to me (yet), as the Medium is the only title from the launch titles that has really got my attention.

@BlueOcean I was surprised to see The Evil Within on the banner there. Fingers crossed for a part 3 as the first two games were quite good.

That's one way of trying to increase sales I guess!

I'll probably buy a PS5 at launch but the £250 price point of the series S is very interesting indeed, so I might buy that at a later point to dabble in some Forza Horizon games et al. Happy days!

"Up to" 120 fps means bugger all of course, but it's a tantalisingly cheap product, so I might actually consider getting one next to my ps5.

@Tharsman Yeah, I suppose it depends on the player. I'm not interpreting your posts as arguing, but rather as having a civilised discussion Like I said, different players prefer different things. That's a good idea though re the post-game shop.

@Tharsman Ah, I didn't realise that. It's been ages since I've played the first two Assassin's Creeds and the one set in London was the last one I played.

Those moon icons in Mario were a shame though, it spoiled all the fun of trying to find them yourself. I'm happy there weren't any Korok icons on the map in BotW though. Sure, you won't find them all, but does that really matter? Like I said, to me it's just about the sense of adventure rather than trying to cross of a set of jobs.

@Tharsman Days Gone wasn't that highly rated by critics, but it had a lot of fans and sold fantastic. Each to their own of course, so if you loved it and your partner loved Horizon, more power to you

I have to say that I don't agree with Breath of the Wild almost being a Ubisoft clone. For me, BotW is one of the very few open-world games I actually adore. It's about going where you want to, rather than working off all the icons on the minimap. Its sense of adventure is unparalleled; you can go everywhere you want just for the sake of it. The only title coming close in that regards would be Death Stranding (although that one's got a string of other issues imo).

@BlueOcean I completely agree about Horizon: Zero Dawn. Absolutely baffles me that so many people are enthralled by another by-the-numbers open world game with a terrible plot. The same applies to Days Gone.

@Tharsman No offense taken! I guess all that marketing bollocks just gets on my nerves a bit.

I suppose that holds up if you want to play a crappier version of a Series X game?... I mean, on the hand it's a decision which enables last-gen console owners to play new games, but it also creates revenue for Microsoft obviously, so the altruistic tone is a bit heavy-handed imo.

I am looking forward to it, if only to shed some light on whether I'll be going Xbox or PS again next gen. One thing is for sure though, Microsoft isn't going to lure me back with just another Halo and Gears of War.

@zane547 That's a massive ask though. For me, it would be quite something if the much-rumoured new Silent Hill wouldn't be a PS exclusive and would also be available on the Series X, but I doubt that we'll hear anything about that anytime soon.

They're doing just that with The Medium I'd say, which looks quite promising.

I'm not an Xbox fan, but I'm not a specific PS fan either. In other words, I'm still not sure which one I'm going to get come Christmas. I was hoping for something to really blow me away, which didn't happen. What I did get were some interesting looking 'smaller' games and Resident Evil 8. Plus a ghastly looking console. Still an open competition to me!

On the one hand this is a consumer-friendly idea. One the other hand I think by myself, if I'm forking out 500 quid for a console, I want bespoke games for that system.
