I'm really hopeful for The Medium. It's currently the biggest reason I'm eyeing next gen hardware.
From what I've seen so far of medium it looks like the generic horror games that come out like remothered and Maid.
Looking forward to playing the yakuza games though
Hitman 3, LET'S GO!
Looking forward to The Medium.
Played Observer: System Redux this month and it's got my hopes high for The Medium.
Killer Queen Black should be good fun, provided there are enough people to matchmake games with (even with crossplay)
3 Yakuza games makes me simultaneously excited and terrified of the time I'm going to spend in them
Hope we don't have to wait too long for Yakuza 6
Hitman 3 for me.
I wish The Medium would drop on Xbox 1 for people who still cant get a hold of a series x or s...
I hope The Medium is awesome & Microsoft announces they bought Bloober Team.
@Gaming365247 The sooner ancient hardware is factored out of game design the better.
@Gaming365247 at least it's also coming for PC.
@Menchi
Tell me what store i Can walk into and buy a seriesx/s and not buy it on online for pick up... I'll be waiting. I'm kinda hoping this generation flops like the WiiU.
Have they announced any details on the Yakuza games in terms of Series X optimizations?
@Gaming365247 Irrelevant comment to game design being held back by old hardware.
Q) What are you particularly looking forward to?
A) Aside from potentially Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition, there is nothing I'm particularly looking forward to in January.
An Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game Complete Edition is only a 'potentially' due to not having a physical release; I'm always hesitant with digital purchases and don't like buying too many each year. I already plan on buying Bright Memory: Infinite this year as a priority pick and that is digital only as far as I'm aware... so I'll probably wait on the Scott Pilgrim game.
It's not a big deal anyway. I've plenty of games left over from this year and Christmas time to play anyway. As such, January game releases always seemed a strange thing to me.
@helbertpina No details yet.
Have preinstalled The Medium. Funny that. Not trying to get my hopes up, but what with the involvement of Yamaoka the least I expect is an atmospheric score.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but I do feel there's a fair amount of pressure on The Medium to be at least good.
I really hope The Medium is good. I don't typically play horror games too often, but this one has really drawn my attention and the dual dimensions running at the same time could prove for some really cool puzzles and really intense moments.
I'm down for The Medium, Hitman III, and the formerly-absent-on-Xbox Yakuza games. All of this obsession with Scott Pilgrim though, I really don't get it. I've had it on my PS3 (PS Plus freebie) since 2012 or so and man, it doesn't live up to the hype around it. What will be interesting to see is what they charge for it as it was a $9.99 game when it first released. I fully expect the new/improved version to be $20 or more.
@Menchi If you hate the concept of games needing to support older hardware you must hate today's PC scene where games need to run on more than the latest hardware. Then again you must also hate next gen consoles in a few years when high-end PC's render them ancient in comparison.
@JayJ That's why I'm thankful games are moving to current gen/PC only as the baseline.
Give me that damn Cyber Shadow. It is at home on the Ninja Gaiden's platform.
@Menchi Give it a few years and PC gamers will be cursing next gen consoles for holding back PC gaming. That kind of mentality is a vicious cycle. At the end of the day games should be able to work on a variety of hardware, sort of how we are able to have a Switch port of a game like Doom Eternal while it's also capable of being an amazing PC game that can push hardware capabilities. Just because they are able to make the game run on older hardware doesn't mean it's being held back on newer hardware.
It seems like some gamers really don't understand how video game development and optimization works these days, they just like going off on elitist tangents where everything below their latest hardware is suddenly a problem.
@Souldin Consider it a miracle that we are even getting another Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game release. I get preferring physical releases, and this is a prime example of why, but at the same time there's no choice and no reason to pass on something you really like when it's a miracle we are even going to be able to play/own it again.
@KilloWertz Honestly the whole digital vs physical debate these days is something that I stopped caring about a long time ago. The problem I got with physical discs is how in my experience owning many consoles over several decades, the disc drives are by far the most unreliable part of any game console and the most prone to having issues. With digital games you do have the issue of missing out on games if they get removed, but if you bought them while they were offered the games later getting removed from the digital store doesn't really effect you. I just know that I already have a few old consoles like a Wii and a PS3 where I can only play my digital games on them because the disc drive broke. For that reason I honestly see digital games as a better long term solution, especially if you know how to activate a console so you don't have to worry about needing to be online to play them.
@JayJ In 2023 I'd rather be limited by 2018 hardware design than 2012 hardware design.
It's the nature of factoring in consoles sadly. It's a "best of the worst" situation.
@Menchi Well in 3 years I am sure a lot more people will have next gen consoles. Until then there is nothing wrong with supporting older consoles, and this whole mentality that making games for older hardware in some way limits games on better hardware is just ridiculous, the kind of thing people think when they have no idea how most games are made.
@JayJ It's ok if you don't get it, the rest of us (and devs) do.
@Menchi Any developer who has ever worked on a PC game before is aware of how ridiculously flawed your thinking is.
@KilloWertz I do like the look of it (it only released digitally before, so it's not like I've played it), like my beat em ups and enjoyed the movie, but as always, there are plenty of other games likely to come out within the year and in physical form so it's not like I don't have alternative game options. I've had a bad habit before of buying too many games without the time to properly play them so having a filtering criteria like whether it's physical or not helps narrow my game choices.
Then funnily enough, a physical version of this game got announced. That's great to hear. I believe it's some site exclusive and I'm not keen on paying online, but it's now a far more tempting offer.
@Souldin I used to be that way with buying too many games, so I get it.
