Re: Capcom Drops Extended Look At Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Ahead Of September Launch

CrimsonRidley

@OldGamer999 We won't be so lucky, I fear. The only new games we get is live service because idiots continue spending money on them to make them profitable.

Why would a developer pour years of work in to a "one and done" new game when they can shovel out live service crap and have intellectually challenged users spend ungodly amounts of money on them, because £15 for a skin pack that won't carry over to new games is a fantastic thing to spend money on...

Re: Starfield Is Now Bethesda's Biggest Game Launch Of All Time

@ApostateMage I believe they chose not to have a voiced character was for role playing purposes. There was a lot of contention with Fallout 4 having a voiced character as the way they delivered lines didn't always match up with what the response insinuated.

At least we can now see exactly what dialogue we're choosing and it's less jarring than Link just waving his arms around and somehow characters know what he's on about. 😂

EDIT: You can hide your spacesuit, when equipping one, there's an option to hide it at the bottom of the screen.

@Aniscape
This is exactly how I feel as well. From a "realism" point of view, you'd never be able to explore a whole planet without needing to resupply.

Even Fallout 4, you couldn't expect to just walk across Boston in one continuous movement and that didn't have vehicles either.

I'm a big fan of open world games, but I can't say I don't get bored wandering between points of interest. Zelda TotK was massive and though there were things to do, a large majority of the time was just trudging along a field waiting for something to happen.

Smaller map chunks with areas to explore suits me perfectly. It allows me to dig in to the area and then if I have to switch off to go to work or something, I'm able to remember what I've done and where I've been as it seems to show 'Explored' on the landing points, which is nice.

@tallythwack That's where most of the hate is coming from but Todd mentioned in the Direct that you choose where to land and then can explore the area around it. The planets are similar to multiple large maps stitched together.

People didn't listen correctly and then made up their own expectations, but you can't reasonably expect 1000 planets that are fully explorable and have packed environments. No Mans Sky had big planets to explore but there was barely anything in them.

Personally, I'm happy to have smaller areas that I can fully explore and then land somewhere else to explore more. It'll help me with my FOMO disease of "Did I go this way? What's over there? Wasn't I in the middle of a quest 25 hours ago?"

I haven't been as excited for the launch of a game since I was a teenager waiting for The Wind Waker or San Andreas.

I find myself anxiously refreshing websites and YouTube, hoping for the tiniest bit of information on the game. I've heard the hate, but whether certain things are true or not, I don't care, I just want to play what Bethesda has decided to create for us!

Re: Bethesda Exec Responds To 'Unprofessional' Criticism Of Starfield's Menu Screen

CrimsonRidley

I like the menu, sure the panel in the top right doesn't fit with the rest of it and could be ticked out of sight and opened with a button press, but a simple menu is all you need.

You don't need to clutter your menu with crap, you just need to make it simple to follow with just the necessary information for the user to navigate to where they want to be.

Most title screens are just a list of options, a static or dynamic image and that's about it. This guy probably complains that water is too wet.
