Okay, so, most of you who've been keeping up with upcoming Xbox exclusive Redfall will have heard about the game's lack of a 60FPS performance mode at launch. It's coming, but Arkane seemingly needs more time to deliver a smooth 60FPS option, and if a new boxart image doing the rounds is to be believed, retail stores are making sure Xbox players know about it.
Originally posted by Windows Central's Jez Corden, a physical copy of Redfall appears to have leaked early, with a sticker on the back that reads "60FPS performance mode not available at launch".

Now, we're not sure if any of this is real - the box itself, or the weird 'aftermarket' sticker placed on the shrink wrap, but we are sure it looks hella dodgy. If this is real and has been found in a store somewhere, it certainly looks like a last minute job.
Of course, the digital listing for Redfall has seemingly removed any mentions of 60FPS as the game nears launch, so Microsoft does seem to be trying to make it clear that no such performance mode exists right now. It's not quite as easy to make similar changes to retail copies, but still, something about this just doesn't look right to us.
We've also checked out a few other Xbox Series X cases we have on hand, and none of them mention '60 Frames Per Second' as a feature on the rear - even if the game features 60FPS like Resident Evil 4. We're firmly in the 'let's wait for more evidence' camp on this one, but the image is starting to gain a lot of traction online.
Either way, we hope that Arkane can get this patch sorted ASAP so we can start to focus more on the game itself!
What do you make of this image? Do you think the box is real? Let us know if you agree that it looks dodgy down in the comments section.

Oh. My. God.
There is no way this is real. Lmaoooo
Clearly said employee has added it, to get noticed on Twitter etc
It looks fake. BUT the box clearly says 60fps so, if true, they would need to do this or it would be false advertising.
Such a shame regardless as I think Redfall looks great, and Arkane games always are, at least to me, but they are just tripping over themselves at the moment.
Personally I wish the game had been delayed till it was done, as lack of 60, and seemingly coming in very hot, is going to give it a rocky start. It’s far from ideal but I’m still expecting a good game.
But I realise these decisions don’t happen in isolation, and MS promised first party games before June 2023. With their other tentpole AAA games slipping l think they likely wanted SOMETHING to come out before then. Plus I expect the rest of the year to be pretty full. This was its window, and it missed being ready for it.
Anyone can make a sticker
@themightyant I think it's painfully obvious that the box arts were already printed and they just decided to roll with it and slap the ole bandaid on there. Man, I'm embarrassed for them. Jeez.
Even if the sticker is fake, putting 60fps on the box is just another huge misstep for the launch of this game. Its bad enough they regularly showed it being played at 60 and even had Xbox influencers showing it on their channels as such
@Solidchief yes, but a sticker THAT convincing? Next level Witchery if you ask me 🙃
What's worse is that there's not even a disc in the box.
Man this is some epic trolling 🤣 I like it.
Yeah I think this was just a store employee having a laugh.
I’m surprised the box still says it requires a constant connection to the internet and bethesda net. Wasn’t that decision reversed recently too?
Pffft, that's fake.
@darkswabber it’s not reversed yet, they’ve just said they’re ‘working’ on it.
Some comments obviously only read the headline and didn’t even looked at the photos. The box clearly says it has a 60fps mode, so they are forced to put that sticker.
The issue here is not the sticker, it’s the box making it clear the game is shipping unfinished, demanding such sticker be used.
As far as I care, this game is not launching yet, and they selling an early access that I don’t care for. Once 60fps and always-online are delivered, I’ll consider downloading it, if I don’t have anything else higher up in my queue.
@darkswabber it was reversed but for a future update. The plan was for it to require internet connection always at launch, same as it was always planned to have 60fps.
@NintendoByNature The person who made it is clearly a criminal mastermind with magic powers.
@SplooshDmg yeah no the 0 don’t match and the spacing is too larger. Also there is artifacting around it.
It’s fake.
@mousieone I don't think they broke out an editor to proof read their janky sticker. The box says 60fps and it's not. There is every reason to put a sticker on there. In my mind it's real until 100% proven false. We will find out for sure in the coming days.
@SplooshDmg oh I wasn’t talking about the sticker.
@mousieone I see. Nothing about the case looks bogus to me either. The photo just overall sorta sucks. Considering there's not even a disc in the box, they probably printed these ages ago.
@mousieone At first I assumed fake, but the box really does say 60fps as a feature, so it's not actually implausible these stickers are added as a CYA measure otherwise the game is legally false advertising, they could get sued, and refund requests would be legit. I honestly think this is legit. Since the box says 60, they'd be stupid to NOT put the disclaimer on.
What's more amazing is that the game expected 60fps at launch so much they even put it on the box features! Indicating that it doesn't have it because the game is truly not finished/is rushed out the door, not because of changes and whatnot.
Do you honestly think a 0 that doesn't match and an inkjet sticker with shopped artifacting isn't genuine Microsoft output given the above?
@NEStalgia oh I’m not doubting the sticker., the box thought.
That said they also said 60fps on the website. One of the podcast I watch went back with the way back machine and saw the website promoting it. Of that I do agree it was supposed to have 60 and I think there will be more issues….
This seems like a prudent thing to do if the box does indeed mention 60fps and it isn't going to be ready for release. That is if the image is genuine and the box does indeed state that.
This is amazing! I had no idea this new creation called a video games weren't around until about 3-4 years ago due to no living person could see a screen that displayed 30 fps.
@SplooshDmg 100%. It was probably too late too. It isn't an easy feat to swap these so late in the day.
@GuyinPA75 This is amazing! Trillion-dollar corporations shipping products missing basic modern features they listed on their own package because they didn't have time to finish it. Hopefully if we get lucky, they ran out of time to finish plenty of other things too!
@SplooshDmg There’s no disc in the box? They’ve screwed up twice then because the box art says “Game disc inside” in the small print.
@CrimsonRidley That's actually my mistake. The initial Bethesda customer support FAQ did say it would only be a code, but they later retracted and said it was a mistake and a disc will be in the box. I forgot about the second part.
@SplooshDmg Ah right, that would have been hilariously embarrassing for them though!
I do find it odd that in 2023, 60fps being touted as a notable feature is still a thing. It should be the standard expectation at this point.
Microsoft dropping the ball again with a delayed game … bad marketing also why would I play a game beat it or progress to where it get repetitive then have a fps upgrade as if I’ll be excited like the first time playing the game …
How about we vote with our wallets and not buy this game until the 60 FPS patch is released. These companies need to realize we will not purchase unfinished software. I think it is completely unprofessional to release a product in an unfinished state with the promise that it will be finished at a later time. Especially when it's something as big as the frame rate. Why would I want to play a game in 30 frames per second and then have a completely different experience when they release a patch? I guess companies have forgotten what they say about first impressions. Also, there is no reason for any game to be releasing at 30 frames per second in the year 2023, especially a first person shooter. We have the most powerful consoles that we've ever had and somehow the performance is dropping. My original Xbox has games that run at 1080 and 60 FPS. I understand there's a lot more graphical detail now, but they can lower it the graphical detail to increase the frame rate easily. Why aren't they giving us the option like they usually do with performance and quality modes?
If the sticker isn't legitimate it's a even bigger story. The box art absolutely shouldn't promote a feature the game won't have.
I dont really recall if the frame rate is actually something most games even put on the back of the box... is it a normal piece of info?
Cause for 90%+ of people who actually pick up any game, they dont flip the box over looking for a frame rate number haha. They want a short concise summary of what the game is and how many players can play it or if it needs online or whatever.
Could be fake or unofficial. Could be generated and applied by the store.
If the sticker is official, then MS/Xbox may be hoping the buyer does not notice it. You don't want a splashy sticker with bad news.
@TheSimulator Play with different characters, play with friends. Not everyone will buy it day one. Some people I played "Back For Blood" with back in Nov. 2021are still playing.
