Miis are basically an idea that later (IIRC, at least) inspired Xbox's own avatars. Since the fourth Smash game, they're fighters and some of their costumes are DLC. Typically - barring exceptions - when a character becomes a Mii costume, its chances to get in the game as a proper fighter are boned, because the special moves (B+directions) only offer up to three options for each direction. More on that here.

The mere fact that Sakurai went out of his way to have the Assist Trophy Kapp'n (Animal Crossing) drive Dragonborn away in a reference to Skyrim's opening should clue you in as to how much Microsoft's IPs (or any, for that matter) are in good hands when it comes to Smash.

Congrats on her! The fact we have to define this decision as "brave" shows we're still way behind on gender issues, but hopefully everything will turn out okay for her.

I mostly keep my gaming needs on Switch anyway, and only buy Gold one month at a time when I need it. Mostly to snatch a game for seven euros and get online with it too. Hopefully Gold and Game Pass will stay separate entities for the foreseeable future, although I highly doubt it.

I'd be glad to see Master Chief and Link go multiplatform as well for a trade-off. And I'm a Nintendo fan.

I use my Xbox One strictly for my non-Nintendo needs, so Rare Replay and Recore were absolute no-brainers.

Finally, Rare Replay and Recore are mine. As soon as the Halo Master Chief Collection gets a decent enough sale, my Xbox One wishlist will be pretty much empty.

I would bite for the Kingdom Hearts sale, but for that I'm holding out for a Switch port. It's high time the first mainline KH games make the leap to portable systems.

Well, all that came out of this was one more week for people to save up their money to actually buy the console. While leaks are not a good thing for companies, the need for leaks isn't good for customers either.

Being alone in making an anti-consumer practice is just asking for trouble. I'm sure @playstation_king remembers quite well the Sony cross-play fiasco, and how "the best place to play" ultimately had to bow down to requests...

When, after the Games Showcase and its exclusives, people over at Push Square kept bashing on Phil Spencer (calling him a hypocrite) due to him not being a fan of exclusives, I've been quick to point out he's been referring to keeping games as exclusive to next-gen systems, rather than to a specific family.
This is going to be plain bad PR if true.

This, right here, is why I haven't bitten into Game Pass yet.

I'm mainly a Nintendo fan, but good grief do I love Phil Spencer's attitude. He's the one guy making sure console wars are a thing of the past.

As expected, PS fans are having a field day with this.

I can actually hear the sheer anger in the comment issued by Microsoft. We all know the criticism surrounding iPhone and the clear advantages Android has over iOS. Apple should stop being so stubborn, they somehow manage to one-up even Sony when it comes to brand narcissism.

The amount of respect for Nintendo is palpable even in the site's coverage itself. If only all three sister sites were like this.

Here's hoping xCloud will work out well for smartphone. The end of consumers settling with poor mobile games is nigh (barring exceptions, such as the excellent Super Mario Run or the sublime Sonic ports by Christian Whitehead (friend of pixels and "polys" alike).

Meanwhile, Push Square users keep bashing on Phil Spencer due to the timed exclusives in the latest Games Showcase ("B-but he said he's n-not a fan of them, what a... a... hypocrite he is!").

Watch as the sass dimension twists this into an act of entitlement.

My hot take here is Deadpool countering this as an Xbox exclusive. Just sayin' - Xbox users need some damage control now. (I'm partially an Xbox gamer, too.)

Eeyup. I was looking forward to this. Can't wait to, y'know, be able to actually buy the damn 360 games on my X1. I'm just surprised it took Microsoft this long to solve the issue.

The true error is us finding out too soon.

Tunic as an Xbox Series X exclusive wouldn't have anything to back up said exclusivity with.

This perfectly incapsulates exactly why the Chief is Microsoft's top dog. It's not like I feel Kratos (for Sony) and MC (for Xbox) are 100% mascot material, but this looks hella nice.

I'm a Nintendo fan and I never considered Xbox (environment and fans alike) mocking material even once.
It helps that I also have an Xbox One.

I'd rather have actual free games with Gold than "free trials" with Game Pass.

PlayStation Now or whatever it's called is not the example Microsoft should follow. Neither is Nintendo Switch Online, as much of a fan as I could be. All three major players should go the Gold route.

And have the games snatched away as soon as they drop out of Game Pass, or worse still, whenever we can't renew the membership?

How about HELL NO.
