Re: Talking Point: What's Your Favourite Video Game Sequel?

xMightyMatt14x

Halo 2 and Uncharted 2 are tied for me. Both, in my opinion, have the best campaign experiences of their respective series. Super Smash Bros. Melee as well. And Mass Effect 2. Playing that again recently was still an amazing experience.

The real question is. Within a limited saga (3-4 games in a set storyline) which has the best finale?

I would in many ways count the original Halos (reach - 3) in a separate story from the newest storyline for this. Same with like the different Ratchet trilogies and so on.

For me it would either be Halo 3 or Ratchet and Clank Futures: A Crack in time.

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Is Your Favourite Halo Game?

@brunojenso that’s a hard one. Basically, Halo 1 at the time was a remarkable experience. The story is great and it sets up the universe. Definitely one of the best starts to a new series ever to exist in gaming. However, it’s level structure shows age and will feel extremely repetitive (it was 2001 after all).

I would say you really need to play 1, 2, and 3 to appreciate the story if you are a story guy. But fully expect to feel repetitive gameplay in Halo 1, until Halo 2 which really brought the campaign to a whole new level.

You’re right though. The gameplay looks generic, because basically Halo invented the gameplay that is now considered generic, at least on consoles. But it’s experiencing the whole package of gameplay, story and multiplayer fun that made this probably the best shooter series of the 2000s. It’s worth experiencing, even if you have to work a little to appreciate it since everything has “improved” on it since.

Halo 2 and 3 are tops. 1 is up there for it’s campaign and nostalgia. I’m going with 2. The story is very well done and I remember at the time it felt like playing/watching a top notch movie as it flipped back and forth between two storylines but linked them well. The story had a great sense of mystery and good flow as it did this. I know they tried to do the two storyline I thing again with Halo 5 (and failed miserably) but 2 is an unforgettable experience for me.

Re: Halo Infinite Campaign Files Have 'Unintentionally' Leaked

xMightyMatt14x

I couldn’t help myself so I actually tried to find it. Then I saw it was super long plain text and I was “okay this will take forever I’m not reading this.”

I do see a silver lining though. Most people who have read the leaks are saying “ok that’s not too bad.” Still sucks it leaked and that many of us will have our experience lessened as a result. But at least maybe we won’t have to worry about it being an awful story?

Re: Rumour: Warner Bros Interested In Selling TT Games, NetherRealm

xMightyMatt14x

@LtSarge I really like your idea of TT doing Banjo if they lose the Lego license. Their skills are definitely for puzzle and collection games. They would have to get used to working with their engine in new ways but very doable. I think TT is a quality purchase no matter what. Let’s hope MS gets them for this reason!

Re: Xbox Is 'Committed To Creating' A Safe LGBTQIA+ Community For Gamers

@Kienda I agree. And the challenge here is we live in a world where on voice is magnified by the internet. We could grow to a point where you could count the number of outwardly toxic people on one hand, but any comment they make gets blasted and promoted as if it represents the opinions of millions.

Perfect example was a few years ago when a Starbucks changed their cups from saying Merry Christmas to Happy Holidays. Afterwards there was supposedly “outrage” from a large number of people. Turns out it was one random low level blue check mark and like 3 who shared it, but everyone started sharing the tweet and pretending millions of people were extremely outraged by it so they could push a counter-anger message. Every article talked about “backlash” against Starbucks but shared the same 3 tweets then stated that the backlash was “large”. The problem is today’s messaging doesn’t represent the average or the vast majority of opinions, but rather the extreme. By that I mean that as long as there is one toxic person the internet will take that message and blast it to promote the idea that there are millions. It’s really hard to see if growth is happening as a result of this method. Without talking to people face to face, and see how people are in real life, we could be easily misled to develop perceptions either way.

Re: Reaction: This Year's Shaky E3 Was Held Up By Xbox And Nintendo

xMightyMatt14x

Really enjoyed E3 this year! I disagree with those who say E3 should die. Take away E3 and we are left with scattered Directs and there’s no “Super Bowl” of gaming announcements. The fun I have every year has little to do with the actual quality of the presentations and more it’s a time to throw a party and celebrate gaming with my friends. Plus we need to remember this year was still affected by CoVid. When we get back to crowds and demo halls next year it’ll be timed perfectly with major games coming between 2022 and 2023. I personally never want to see this time of celebration go away.

Re: 2023 Is When Xbox Will Deliver With The Likes Of Fable & Perfect Dark, Claims Insider

xMightyMatt14x

Imagine the end of 2022 into 2023. That might end up being the best 18 month period Xbox has ever had. We end 2022 with Starfield and Redfall. 2023 brings us (in any possible order) Perfect Dark, Fable, Compulsions game, Contraband, Forza Motorsport, InExiles game, Hellblade 2 and Avowed. Spread throughout the year that would be an incredible lineup. Heck I would be fine if 2 or 3 of those fell into 2024 with Everwild to receive extra polish. Then in 2024 you already have Everwild, Project Typhoon, and Project Dragon.

Re: Rumour: Huh? Rare's Everwild Apparently Got 'Rebooted'

xMightyMatt14x

Honestly, based on how they spoke about the game this might not be terrible. The previous director and others kept mentioning how it’s a beautiful world but they “don’t know what game it is yet”. Maybe this change will give it an actual direction so they know what game they are making now.

Re: Poll: How Would You Grade Xbox & Bethesda's E3 2021 Showcase?

xMightyMatt14x

A lot of fun for me. As a huge sea of thieves fan that was an amazing announcement. I’m so pumped for that. Halo Infinite also looked incredible!!! And Forza looks amazing. Redfall looks interesting. Starfield I wanna see more of. I think with how little they had of that it was a better start than finish.

What is plague tale like? Worth it?
