Now that everyone on iOS who is an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member can take advantage of Cloud Gaming, a new range of 'Designed for Xbox' accessories have been revealed to be used with iOS devices.
One of the most used controllers for Xbox Cloud Gaming, the Backbone One, is now an official Designed for Xbox accessory. It's compatible with all iPhone models with iOS 13 or later, and essentially turns your phone into a Nintendo Switch as you slip your peripheral in-between.
In an Xbox Wire post, it's added: "[The] Backbone One was designed to preserve battery life and reduce input latency by harnessing iPhone-exclusive technology, requiring no charging while enabling incredibly responsive gaming". You can even still take captures with a built-in button, which allows you to use the Backbone app to edit your footage.
You can purchase it from today for $99, coming complete with 3 months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for new subscribers if purchased via Backbone's official site. It can also be picked up via the Microsoft Store.
Razer is also getting in on the action with its Kishi Universal Gaming Controller for iOS. It's said to "fit most iPhone devices", and works similarly to the Backbone One. It offers "ergonomic design, clickable analog thumbsticks, ultra-low latency gameplay and a lightning port to charge your phone while in you play."
Pre-orders are available from today retailing at $99 via Razer's official site, and it also comes with a 3-month trial for new Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
Finally, the previously announced OtterBox Power Swap Controller Batteries are recommended for on-the-fly charging. With the dock, you'll be able to provide power to your battery packs, and the quick release batteries come packed with a reserve energy cell, meaning you'll never have to disconnect your controller as you swap over.
These are also available to order on the Microsoft Store now, retailing at $59.95. They come with the charging dock, two batteries, and a special clip for your controller to maintain power.
There's a ton here to get you started on the Xbox Cloud Gaming hype. While some games have touch controls incorporated, there's nothing quite like holding an actual controller in your hand. With these, you'll be able to play on the go and ensure you have a smooth, comfortable gaming experience.

Wanted to drop in to say the Backbone controller is excellent, I’ve been using it with PS Remote Play and will try with GamePass now as well.
The Backbone app is a Gaming OS. I can’t recommend it enough.
I have an iPhone and 400 mbps internet and still haven’t gotten xcloud to actually work once. Every time I try to load a game it won’t load.

I tried FH4 briefly yesterday with a 200 mbps connection and it performed almost flawlessly. Seems like the experience is differing quite a bit for everyone.
@BigBoom3ai3 Interesting. I’m not hating them because they are doing something incredible here. I’m more mad at Apple for being jerks about this whole thing. It would just be nice for it to work lol.
I returned my Kishi just today. I got it for a really great price, but it wasn't worth it. It fits floppy, and feels bad. I know everyone seems to like it, but I recommend avoiding it.
