There was a lot of excitement at the beginning of this year when Bethesda and MachineGames announced a brand-new Indiana Jones title, set to arrive on Xbox in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games at some point.
We haven't heard much else about it so far, but speaking to GameSpot earlier this week, Bethesda's Pete Hines confirmed that the game is still a long way off, and "you can make your own guesses about how far along [it] is".
"Obviously, we literally just announced that deal, so you can make your own guesses about how far along that game is.
They're in the very, very, very early stages of working on the Indiana Jones game."
Pretty much all we know about the game so far is that it will be executive produced by Bethesda's Todd Howard, and the team in charge is MachineGames - the same studio behind the Wolfenstein series. There's no word on whether it will be an Xbox exclusive as of yet, but it seems very likely that will be the case.
To be honest, we're not anticipating any extra details on this title for the rest of 2021, and even 2022 might be pretty light on information. That doesn't stop us from being any less excited though... we can't wait to step into Indys shoes!

To be honest I think we knew that, I'd say 2024 at the earliest but probably the year after
announced a bit too early i think
I’m shocked there were several on here who selected 2022 in the poll lol
Another game announced way too soon. Nintendos strategy the last year have been much better with announcing a game a couple months before release.
I dont think there's anything wrong with early announcements. People just have to be patient.
I wouldn't be so sure that this game is exclusive to Xbox. Sure MS owns Bethesda now, but there's no word if that was before, or after MS bought them. If there was a pre existing agreement to be multiplat, you can be very sure that MS will honor that, specially with Disney.
Are people still seriously drumming the "might not be exclusive" tune AGAIN?
Well at the end of the day if we want big budget AAAA next generation graphical crazy games with top end game play and hours of play then this generation is going to longer I think.
Probably 4 to 5 years each game.
Especially learning the new console and reaping all the power out of it.
In time to be a launch title on the next gen is my guess.
@thenewguy I guess but Nintendo has that issue to with all their “big titles”.
BoTW 2 shown 2019 dated for 2022 but could slip.
Bayonetta 3?
Metroid Prime 4?
Even Animal Crossing and FE Three House got delayed.
@mousieone All those titles you mentioned are the reasons why Nintendo doesn't announce games early anymore.
@The_New_Butler good point, I'll still bet my socks it's a MS exclusive =)
Very, very early in development because they're working on Wolfenstein III, right? Right?

I believe that it's an ambitious game like Fable or Perfect Dark. They are going to need 4 or 5 years. So, 2025-26?
@BlueOcean probably depends on wolfenstein 3 (if it’s a thing). My guess is 3 years after wolfenstein 3 releases. 2025 is a good bet.
2025 at the earliest
@thenewguy Splatoon 3?
It’s at least a year away. I mean I’m sure it will come out on time but that’s not “soon” either.
@mousieone Yeah, you're right.
Let’s hope they don’t get forced to tie into the new movie somehow during development….
@thenewguy I’m sorry if I overstepped.
