Not sure if it was just the network being under some real strain with everyone playing, but I had a point last night where achievements just stopped unlocking in any game (3 in Unpacking and 3 in Halo failed to pop).
Went back this morning and was able to force most of them (across both games) to trigger by completing the requirements again. Still missing the achievement for completing the first mission of Halo, but everything else seems OK this morning. Fingers crossed it'll just show up randomly some time soon!
@Cherip-the-Ripper @MegaWatts seconding the Eastshade recommendation—played through it earlier in the year and really enjoyed it. Won't be for everyone, but I imagine it'll click (or not) fairly quickly for most people, so worth trying for sure to see how you get on! One of the most relaxing things I've played this year.
No sync issues, but I have started to get L stick drift on my primary controller. Luckily I have a second, which I've switched to, but a pain all the same.
Does anyone have any recommendations around / experience of the process for getting this fixed in the UK? Presumably this should be covered under warranty?
Interesting that some players are having to full restart. I have been affected by the issue a few times now, but quitting and re-opening the game has been enough to fix it for me. Frustrating, but not the end of the world, and kudos to the team at Supergiant for responding within 15 mins when I tweeted at them asking for advice. Here's hoping they can get it fixed soon!
Nice! The main thing I'd love to see them fix with Quick Resume is how it is broken with some in-game timers. No idea if it's doable, as I expect the problem is more complicated than it seems at a glance, and probably requires per-game implementation, but it's frustrating having to save and quit some games to prevent the playtime counters ticking up (Lost Odyssey is the main one that springs to mind, but I'm sure I saw it in something else more recent, too).
Is there a reason why the release times are so inconsistent for games on Xbox? In the past couple weeks I've had titles I was waiting for go live at 2pm, 4pm and now 6pm! Seems really odd that there isn't a fixed, consistent time for games to go live.
As mentioned on the other article, worth noting here that if quick resume fails (or you quit the game manually for whatever reason), the downloads don't continue in the background (makes sense) OR start automatically when you re-open the game - you'll need to jump into the menu and re-start them manually when you open it back up.
@Talkshowhost (and PSA for everyone else reading) I've checked this morning and the World Update packs don't appear to continue downloading while the console is in rest mode. In my case, this is because the game wasn't placed in quick resume, and had quit instead - if quick resume works for you then I guess you might get lucky!
Even less intuitively, the downloads had not re-started automatically when I re-opened the client - I had to go back through the menus and manually re-start all five downloads.
I've now settled for just leaving the console turned on all morning with the game running and hoping the downloads finish by lunch!
Loving the game itself so far (did a few discovery flights and the first leg of a bush trip last night), but man did they really not go out of their way to make it easy to get everything installed on console…
@Talkshowhost I have no idea to be honest with you! You'd hope they've found a way to make that work, but I'm midflight at the mo and there doesn't seem to be a way to check install progress unless you're in the main menu. Sorry!
They don't list the sizes until you start downloading, but I've got them all going now and it's roughly an extra 30GB, so you're looking somewhere in the region of 150-60GB if you want all the bells and whistles. UK world update was only 6GB though!
Bit gutted about CC - been focusing on finishing it before it leaves the service, and have hit a bug in the 8th (out of 10) chapter that has completely blocked me from progressing 😔 real shame as the game has been fantastic up to this point!
@InterceptorAlpha I've been playing for a few months on and off now, on series x, and I've never had any issues with FPS, crashing, etc! And the loading is always fairly quick, too. Not PS5 level, but perfectly respectable for an online experience.
In fact, I came to the comments to specifically shout out how impressed I've been with how polished the experience I've had with the game has been. Weird that you've had so many issues with it! The others I play with are all on PC, so I wonder if that makes any sort of difference. Odd.
Is this definitely a hard rule? Pretty sure when I was looking at the No Man's Sky achievements, some of the criteria for those have been changed since launch. Although in that case it was to make them harder, so maybe it's only allowed in one direction.
@FraserG fair enough - think I just misinterpreted it because the article specifically mentioned looking at "the best Xbox One and Series X|S games of 2020"! But yeah I see your point!
Interesting to hear it's supposed to have been turned back on for Valhalla - definitely still wasn't working for me yesterday, but I'll try again later!
@TownYsend can confirm I was able to get all my All Access stuff finalised in-store at Game yesterday. Got a cheeky little tease of the actual unit I'll be taking home, and should all be plain sailing next week!

Re: Far Cry 5 Will Be Entirely Free To Play On Xbox This Weekend
Not sure about US, but those times seem slightly off for the UK. GB post here suggests it'll be roughly 8am tomorrow to 8am Monday (the times mentioned in the article appear to be if you're playing via Ubisoft Connect) https://www.ubisoft.com/en-gb/help/far-cry-5/gameplay/article/information-about-the-far-cry-5-free-weekend-august-2021/000098034

Just FYI all, this still doesn't include the 5 World Update packages - you need to go into the marketplace in game to download those 😬

Re: Soapbox: Deep Rock Galactic Is One Of Xbox’s Most Hidden Gems, And It’s In Game Pass
@InterceptorAlpha sorry yeah that's what I meant, the others I play with are all on PC, but playing on Series X myself, I've never had a single issue!
