@freddones You do understand Sony can lend money right? Many companies use debt for financing acquisitions… also you should look at the free cashflow that’s available instead of looking at the loss of concord (which Sony can use as tax write off thus lower taxes and Bungie als generates money so the 3 billion you refer to can also be recovered)

@ZuneTattooGuy SaaS (software as a service) is what Microsoft is leading at (Gamepass)! I think with the acquisition of AB they are the party to become the Netflix of gaming. Sony and Nintendo won’t have the capital to compete.

On your remark: they are now in second place but they will become the largest.

@Sakai This! Sony shares dropped very hard due to decreasing gross margins. I think direct labour cost due to the amount of development time is really pushing margins down. Also the amount of marketing spending for games is absurd.

@Kierant202 Most of the layoffs at Activision Blizzard were due to synergies (e.g. cost cutting on staff functions that are double). That’s different than Sony who had severely lower margins in FY23 (all resulting from development cost being so high and increasing).

Also don’t compare Sony acquisitions with Microsoft acquisitions (max €3.7 billion vs €68.7 billion). They are in a total different ballpark.

Microsoft is in the position to get a monopoly in videogaming Industry purely based on the amount of spending power they have. Sony is a dirt poor compared to Microsoft in terms of liquidity.

It’s also the reason why I don’t comment as often on either pushsquare or purexbox anymore… It’s very funny that both websites publish these console war articles without thinking: hmm what sort of people would this attract. @DKGXX85 @Phantasystar77 Totally agree with you guys. I more a Sony guy but I don’t understand why both Sony and Microsoft are going the third party route. Every generation they seem to force me more and more going the pc route. (On the topic of Sony: see Horizon FW complete edition… I bought the game at launch but PC masterrace gets the DLC and base game for less than I bought it…)

What was the natural growth without this acquisition? Boosting revenue increase due to acquisition is not really impressive without knowing natural growth…

I don’t have gamepass or an Xbox but I can recommend everyone to play Danganronpa. It’s like phoenix wright but than a lot darker imho

I’m sort of glad that it’s not Elder scroll’s level greatness as I have a huge backlog (still will try to persuade the misses to buy an Xbox SX)#lessFOMO

Little bit jealous on team green that they got Obsidian. After playing Fallout 3: New Vegas and South Park the stick of truth I can say these guys are one of the best WRPG developers in the industry.

@UltimateOtaku91 Fake fans? I have all the Playstation consoles, handhelds and now even their latest VR headset. I think it’s not unreasonable to expect updates about their first party output but this was just 90% third party.

OT: I really hope Xbox shows how an event should be done. New games with gameplay instead of teasers for GAAS / life service games.

@Jenkinss No not typical Sony fans. We waited two years for this showcase and this is what they presented. If Phil ever decides to leave Xbox he is welcome at PlayStation as both Hermen and Jim Ryan (ugly version of Gordon Ramsey) do not understand anything about their core audience (Phil is a gamer and understands what people want).

As a Sony guy I now wish and pray that Microsoft gets AB. Sony needs the competition it seems as they are winning this generation without much effort. Sony during the PS3 era was perfect as Microsoft was kicking their ass and we got some really special games (journey but also the resistance games).

PSVR2: GT7, RE:village and Horizon call of the mountain.

GT7 is amazing in VR. For me it was a borefest on regular 2D screen. RE: village was my first almost vomit moment… due to running away from a werewolf.. Horizon is pretty but it’s feels like a workout (a lot of climbing).

Switch: Zelda BOTW… Trying it again as I want to buy the sequel but not before I finished BOTw

I can understand that people find PlayStation games boring as they are much slower in pace (compare Halo with GOW),. Overall PlayStation games are more movie like than games from Xbox or Nintendo but that’s what I like.

@Sebatrox You really hurt my feelings.. GOW is a great game and I bet if it was on Xbox you would have loved it 😎

@NeoRatt Totally agree, Jim is even worse.. he also loves double speak (we believe in generations…. I’m still waiting for true PS5 exclusives as everything will either go to PC or was developed with ps4 in mind)

Playstation gamer here. It would be an issue if Phil Spencer would just shut up. He always speaks like he is giving games a bigger audience while taking it away from PS community. Just say that these takeovers are for bolstering gamepass/xbox (don’t lie).

(Thanks to Bethesda takeover I’m considering buying an Xbox eventually —> Elder scrolls is one of my favourite series).
