@somnambulance let me ask you this: why would they be pitching a sequel this far after launch? Most studios would have already been working on their next project before hi-fi rush came out.
They probably didn't have a follow up game planned because the director never planned to do a follow up after hifi rush.
@somnambulance what money is there to be made in shutting down a studio that was doing WELL? Explain that. You probably can't because it doesn't make any sense. What do we KNOW about tango? They released hi-fi rush, the founder and lots of key talent left.... And we haven't heard anything from them sense. It makes sense to assume that chain of events is related, right?
If the founder left, taking key talent, and the remaining staff wasn't actually capable of producing a viable product, who exactly is responsible for the studio shutting down?
This stuff sucks, but the way people react to it is ridiculous.
@somnambulance why are gamers so bone-headed to the point that they NEVER consider that there's a good reason for closing down a studio or cancelling a game?
"Everything was perfect, then Microsoft shut them down... Why? Because Microsoft is evil?"
I'm sure there's more to it than that... This isn't a Disney movie.
@SAHgamer I think it's a bit of a multifaceted issue. My corrupted CP save was over 500mb in size. I'm sure whatever process they have isn't designed to back up that much Data on a constant basis. I think the games need to figure out how we compress the save files. Half a gig seems excessive.
Games definitely save locally. My cyberpunk 2077 save got corrupted. Every file, unreadable. I was able to recover by DELETING my local save Data and then resynchronizing from the cloud. I didn't lose any progress.
@shoeses this is my totally baseless, gut assessment of what went wrong. Aspyr came to Sony with a rough draft of a game that looked like an updated version of Kotor. And Sony was like "what the heck is this, where are the cutscenes??"
That's the only way this could have went so off the rails so fast. Imo
I'm a huge fan of larian and I already bought it on PS5. Xbox is where I'd prefer to play. But I'm absolutely not double dipping because the way larian handled the whole Xbox situation really annoyed me. They weren't being honest about GENERAL optimization issues they were having. (They made it seem like a Xbox specific issue when the game could just use a bit more optimization across the board).
However, if it drops on gamepass, I'll move my save over and start playing there immediately.
I hate how the internet portrays that event. Everything that MS said that day has happened, and we're all fine with it.
>Everything is always online >Physical/used games are nearly irrelevant >Our consoles serve as convenient multi media devices to the point where standalone DVD players just don't exist
All that has happened while Microsoft has been the only platform that truly respects digital ownership and game preservation.
The Kinect was apparently gimmicky *****, but I guess we have plenty of space for more expensive and less functional gimmicky ***** like, VR, the switch as a console, and dumb adaptive triggers.
I'd much rather have the 3rd or 4th gen Kinect than any of the crap we have now.

Re: Rumours About Microsoft Surface Team Taking Over Xbox Hardware Development 'Not True'
@Retron Not really, all they need is a native gamepass app for Linux, and they'll be all set
Re: Hellblade 2 Will Be A Digital-Only, Cheaper Release On Xbox And PC
Dang, digital only is a deal breaker? Let me go tell Alan wake 2, BG3, and basically every indie game ever.
Re: Palworld's Reviews Have Arrived Ahead Of Its Xbox Game Pass Launch
@Kaloudz oh it will never leave preview lol. Pocket pair makes neat lil games that are fun for what they are.
But they DO NOT finish them.
Craftopia is still in early access. No finish date in sight.
One of my all time favorite games tho

Re: Xbox Fans Call On Microsoft To 'Pick Up' Troubled Star Wars: KOTOR Remake
PlayStation is too risky averse for this game anyways and PlayStation players don't even like RPGs

Re: Xbox To Provide Update On Starfield's Frame Rate Ahead Of September Launch
If starfield is at a level of fidelity and scope that requires 30 fps, then it's fine.
If starfield is as big as we seem to be expecting, then there really isn't any basis for a particular performance expectation.
It's not like there will be another game that we can point to and be like, "see, that other studio did the same thing at 60 fps, why couldn't you??"
