Re: Phil Spencer Addresses Xbox Speculation Ahead Of 'Business Update Event'

@themightyant I think Game Pass and Store Front on all/any consoles is their long term strategy. Given the dominant position Sony is already in, and general consensus in EU regarding 3rd party stores, that's the way we're heading. Time will tell. Let's see how it plays out.

MS are software first company, and this is nothing new for them. Infiltrate, Proliferate, Exterminate is the new Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

I wonder if this is how it'll play out.

  • Next week they'll announce all Xbox 1st party games for PS5
  • Maybe timed exclusive for first 3-12 months on Xbox
  • Rely on Game Pass to keep Xbox X|S relevant this gen.
  • Build pressure on Sony with PR/regulators to allow Game Pass on PS5+
  • Drop Xbox hardware if not next gen then soon after.
  • Build pressure on Sony with PR/regulators to reduce 30% cut or allow alternative App Store ala Epic vs Google & Apple.

@Ep_13 Perpetual optimism is a force multiplier my friend. I wish I had your level of energy to engage. Echo chambers like PX or PushSquare are hardly going to move the debate forward.

I'm sympathetic to business side of things as well for these sister sites. Certain narrative will always get more engagement because userbase is lopsided. Some vocal minorities and tribal behaviour is bit frustrating to see, but don't let that deter you. More enthusiasm and positivity is absolutely needed in gaming community.

Re: Report: Microsoft President To Discuss Activision Blizzard Deal With UK Chancellor This Week

I frequent Eurogamer for gaming news, and they reported this yesterday. It's really frustrating to see comments section there and even on Pushsqure to certain extent.

'Extreme' option is to withdraw Activision business entity from UK, it doesn't impact UK gamers ability to buy or access Activision games. They can always publish via a distributor. It will have major impact on Development and Publishing staff in UK though.

@Richnj I followed Bungie very closely since 2005. If I recall correctly, Bungie wanted to own next IP and go multi platform. They were dead set on going independent, their ambition was to become publisher. They even published a mobile game. Things turned out differently with Activision deal unfortunately. MS made a 2 Halo game deal with them and setup 343 industries post Halo 3 launch. ODST and Reach did well for X360, and we all know how it turned out with 343.

@GADG3Tx87 Why limit yourself? Get whatever console you can now, and buy the other down the line in few years. I went Xbox at launch this time, but I fully expect to end up with PS5 in few years when slim &/ better looking model is out (entirely subjective ofcourse).

Regarding Trophies and Achievements, I never thought CrossPlay will happen in my lifetime but here we are. Get the conversation started and who knows.
