I'm surprised we didn't see more games unveiled or talked about at GDC this week, other than Child of Eden. Looks like we'll have to wait until June to find out more of the really exciting games.
@eclipticus If you turn up your bass you'll feel great but it's different from the controller feedback. Basically your controllers will rumble in time to the music and shots, so you can feel them on particular parts of your body, and it'll be very noticeable. I personally would advise turning the bass up too
@Crunc Holding one controller in your pocket is possible (at least in my trousers) but I think four might be pushing it a bit!
You can only fit so much on a disc though, and having new content online on day one gets players into the habit of checking and lets you pick the stuff you want. I'd be happy buying the content I wanted online so I knew I had exactly what I wanted than getting a disc full of stuff I was never going to touch. That to me is more like a waste of money!
It's also not necessarily a case of it being available before production as the final code would have to be sent for approval, mastered, produced, distributed etc., and there could have been hold-ups on the DLC front.
I think the idea of sending two players different images is a really interesting idea that could lead to amazing co-operative play opportunities in a local setting. Can't wait!
I tried to see if the wrist-tracking was included as well but couldn't really tell. You'd assume Kinect would need an accuracy increase to pull off this level of facial recognition, but apparently not!
Really looking forward to hosting some KINECTaku video debates using this
@hrnyseany Get Rez HD from Xbox Live Marketplace and you'll understand. It's a beautiful shooter that's got a hypnotic rhythm to it, it looks great and will make you feel amazing. It's only cheap and I'd recommend it to everyone who wants a brilliant, brilliant game, even if you don't normally like shooters.
I think they're mixing it up with the DLC - the first set had Black-Eyed Peas, Ne-Yo and Sean Paul alongside Cameo and Tag Team. I'm sure future downloads will be more contemporary!
I'd definitely like to see some unlocks for your dancer - a proper career mode would be great, taking you through your character's career from poor kid in the slums right through to an appearance in the latest Step Up movie.
@Crunc It's not just us - everyone's reporting this as an XBLA title. I can't see it coming to disc personally, not with the game's concept or Twisted Pixel's track record.
I know what you mean about launching XBLA games from the Hub, but I can also see why they wouldn't put that functionality in there until there were no games to utilise it
We'll keep monitoring the title so if it turns out to be retail you'll know here
One of the few games I've seen so far that's made me think it could realistically only be done on Kinect. Love the puppetry idea to control a character in a third-person shooter - very clever!
@DougMonroe Interesting idea, it would be interesting to see how accurately it could detect your swing if you were side-on to the TV as you are with Sonic Free Riders, for example.
Maybe you'd stand and face the sensor so it can read your motion properly? We'll have to wait and see!
@Teamdoa Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12 is out in March on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, but the 360 version doesn't use Kinect, which has got nothing to do with Mr Woods' infractions.
I agree - if Kinect can't currently recognise individual fingers, I'm impressed it can respond to eyebrows, so let's hope this paves the way for improved resolution in other games too!
@lipnox I had no idea PlayStation Home allowed you to control your Avatar's facial features with no controller, or that you could record and share your own shows via YouTube and Facebook. I really must try those options out
For overall fitness, I'd probably go for Mel B - it's got scope for you to include your own weights if you have them, and is the easiest to use and get started. However, it's not very varied, so if you think you might get bored easily then EA Sports Active or Your Shape are also good bets
Sorry if that sounds like a cop-out, but they're all good games with their own strengths and weaknesses - there's no clear leader sadly.
Hey @dirtyvu, I didn't know the game had been updated. However, our policy is to review the game in the condition it was released in, so we won't be updating the review. Cheers!
Sounds like it's definitely the disc causing the issues - make sure it's a copy intended for your region, and contact the store again if possible. Good luck getting the game to work, it's worth the effort!
I think the hacks are interesting but I certainly would rather be writing about great games coming out. Obviously bear in mind that at the moment most publishers/developers are on Christmas break so there won't be much game-related news for a week or two yet. It'll happen though!
You're missing out. Yu Suzuki is, in my opinion, above Shigeru Miyamoto in the annals of great video game designers. He's hugely influential and well-respected.
Hi @arturo587, thanks for joining KINECTaku. I love your enthusiasm for Kinect and its future, but I would just like to point out that we're not Microsoft, we're a journalistic site covering Kinect news and reviews so we won't be creating any Avarat games. Sorry!
Personally I preferred Mel B - I had fewer problems with it picking up my movements, it's got a wider range of exercises and navigation is easier. However it's got no gamey elements compared to other titles and it's really just like seeing yourself on a fitness video, but the pace and energy were good so it gets my vote.
Though I should say I haven't played Your Shape - that was Jon. I reviewed the others though, and am now thoroughly exhausted!

Re: Kinect Joy Ride Gets New Features for Free Today
Strange, the press release says the update is available now. Major Nelson also says it's out now, though "not in all regions" :

Never played Rez?! Get Rez HD on XBLA and enjoy one of the best things ever.
I'll be picking up stacks of used controllers just to enjoy this mode

Re: Kinect Web Browser Beats Michael Phelps at His Own Game
Now that is technology I could get behind.
Maybe there's a Clippy-style character built-in? "It looks like you're in need of a flotation device. Would you like some armbands?"
Re: The Gunstringer is a "Mix of Crash Bandicoot and Rez"
There's a definite similarity there, you're right!
Re: Yoostar Promising Countless Clips to Build Your Ideal Collection
Who doesn't? I wish they were doing a special Mad Men edition that came with an expensive suit and a bottle of scotch.
Re: Forget Kinect Sports Boxing, Kinect Punch-Out!! is the New Champion
Because games are awesome, dude.

Re: Review: Kinectimals (Xbox 360)
@Portista It's a good game with some flaws - that's what a 7/10 is on our review scale
Re: New DanceMasters DLC Costumes Hit the Marketplace
None so far sadly!
Re: Review: Dr Kawashima's Body and Brain Exercises (Xbox 360)
@abHS4L Get Kinect Sports, it'll keep you going until the next amazing Kinect game, whenever that is!
Re: Redundancies at Kinect Sports Developer Rare
As well as the whole Avatar thing, plus I quite enjoyed Viva Pinata (though the DS version is the best one!)

I agree, it's going to be really interesting to see how this is going to work without buttons. Let's see!
Re: Rumour: Kinect Under Attack from Heavy Fire: Afghanistan
@hrnyseany haha, that sounds great! Let us know when it's done (use the Contact form) and we'll write some news about it!

Re: Survey Asks What You'd Like to See in Dance Central 2
@teamdoa Wouldn't you rather have Michael Jackson: The Experience?
@hkflanagan Great suggestions!
Re: Rumour: Kinect Under Attack from Heavy Fire: Afghanistan
You have to shout it: "BANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANGBANG!" It'll be great.
Re: First Michael Phelps - Push the Limit Trailer in its HD Glory
@bboy2970 That's gameplay from 1:30.
@Lantern Around the same number who enjoy pong toss, root beer tapping, horseshoe-hurling and other top sports!

I half expected someone to come out and start singing "Oh My God" by Kaiser Chiefs, personally!

Re: Carnival Games: In Action Strikes Kinect in April
Begins? After Game Party in Motion the only way is up!
Re: Forget Robots, Kinect's Purpose is to Play Angry Birds
You never know! I'm sure someone will put two and two together and make it happen eventually.
I've got a Mac, a wireless mouse and a Kinect, so I would definitely be up for this

Yes, it's a shame when I was writing this I had more recommendations of games to avoid than I did games to buy. Not encouraging!
