Re: Child of Eden on Kinect Gets its Trance Vibrators Back

James

@eclipticus If you turn up your bass you'll feel great but it's different from the controller feedback. Basically your controllers will rumble in time to the music and shots, so you can feel them on particular parts of your body, and it'll be very noticeable. I personally would advise turning the bass up too

@Crunc Holding one controller in your pocket is possible (at least in my trousers) but I think four might be pushing it a bit!

Re: Yoostar Promising Countless Clips to Build Your Ideal Collection

You can only fit so much on a disc though, and having new content online on day one gets players into the habit of checking and lets you pick the stuff you want. I'd be happy buying the content I wanted online so I knew I had exactly what I wanted than getting a disc full of stuff I was never going to touch. That to me is more like a waste of money!

It's also not necessarily a case of it being available before production as the final code would have to be sent for approval, mastered, produced, distributed etc., and there could have been hold-ups on the DLC front.

Re: Avatar Kinect Shown Off in New Live Action Video

James

I tried to see if the wrist-tracking was included as well but couldn't really tell. You'd assume Kinect would need an accuracy increase to pull off this level of facial recognition, but apparently not!

Really looking forward to hosting some KINECTaku video debates using this

Re: This Child of Eden Video Will Remind You it's Beautiful

James

@hrnyseany Get Rez HD from Xbox Live Marketplace and you'll understand. It's a beautiful shooter that's got a hypnotic rhythm to it, it looks great and will make you feel amazing. It's only cheap and I'd recommend it to everyone who wants a brilliant, brilliant game, even if you don't normally like shooters.

Re: The Gunstringer Rides into Xbox Live Arcade on Kinect

James

@Crunc It's not just us - everyone's reporting this as an XBLA title. I can't see it coming to disc personally, not with the game's concept or Twisted Pixel's track record.

I know what you mean about launching XBLA games from the Hub, but I can also see why they wouldn't put that functionality in there until there were no games to utilise it

We'll keep monitoring the title so if it turns out to be retail you'll know here

Re: Features: A Guide to Kinect Fitness Games

James

For overall fitness, I'd probably go for Mel B - it's got scope for you to include your own weights if you have them, and is the easiest to use and get started. However, it's not very varied, so if you think you might get bored easily then EA Sports Active or Your Shape are also good bets

Sorry if that sounds like a cop-out, but they're all good games with their own strengths and weaknesses - there's no clear leader sadly.

Re: The Biggest Loser: Ultimate Workout

James

Sounds like it's definitely the disc causing the issues - make sure it's a copy intended for your region, and contact the store again if possible. Good luck getting the game to work, it's worth the effort!

Re: Throw Away Your Remotes and Control Your TV with Kinect

James

I think the hacks are interesting but I certainly would rather be writing about great games coming out. Obviously bear in mind that at the moment most publishers/developers are on Christmas break so there won't be much game-related news for a week or two yet. It'll happen though!

Re: Out Today: Your Shape: Fitness Evolved DLC

James

Hi @arturo587, thanks for joining KINECTaku. I love your enthusiasm for Kinect and its future, but I would just like to point out that we're not Microsoft, we're a journalistic site covering Kinect news and reviews so we won't be creating any Avarat games. Sorry!

Re: Review: Get Fit With Mel B (Xbox 360)

James

Personally I preferred Mel B - I had fewer problems with it picking up my movements, it's got a wider range of exercises and navigation is easier. However it's got no gamey elements compared to other titles and it's really just like seeing yourself on a fitness video, but the pace and energy were good so it gets my vote.

Though I should say I haven't played Your Shape - that was Jon. I reviewed the others though, and am now thoroughly exhausted!
