Re: First Impressions: Kinect Sports: Season Two

Is darts that big in the US? I think tennis is a pretty multi-national sport, as is golf, though I take your point on the others. Hopefully Rare and Big Park can come up with some interesting minigames to get your sweat going!

Re: First Impressions: Kinect Star Wars

@PlaysWithWolves Peter Molyneux has repeatedly said that Fable: The Journey isn't on-rails so there must be some way to move. Perhaps a Nunchuk-like controller could work? I know it would defeat the point of Kinect somewhat but it's an option at least!

@userwords We call it like we see it here at KINECTaku. Yes this game is early and could well improve, but this first showing was not impressive. Kinect owners deserve the truth!

Re: First Impressions: Fruit Ninja Kinect

James

@47drift There was something similar but not a straight port.

@ifell41 It'll launch as part of the Summer of Arcade season which starts next month. No confirmed release date yet but we'll let you know ASAP.

Re: Your First Look at Kinect's Interactive Adverts

James

Xbox Live Gold hasn't been ad-free for a long, long time though — how often do you see a box for upcoming films, games, sport events etc.? Adverts are here to stay, and in fact the more people sign up for Xbox Live Gold the more advertisers are going to want in.

Re: Talking Point: What Should Microsoft Do With Kinect At E3?

James

@danielmontero87 Welcome aboard! I think some Kinect games have been really well-supported with DLC — Kinect Sports, Your Shape, Dance Central — but there's definitely scope for more. I'd love some new Kinect Sports minigames to keep me going!

@davahsa I think the price of 360 may stay the same this year, it's still outselling the competition, though I think Kinect itself will drop in price — the initial buzz has died down and the sales have slowed. That said, Microsoft needs to recoup that enormous outlay on R&D and marketing, so who knows?

Re: Talking Point: Game Shows That Would Work on Kinect

James

That sounds awesome. Would definitely work for Kinect!

I don't know much about The Cube, other than it's a series of physical and mental challenges that happen to take place in a large transparent box, but I used to love The Crystal Maze. You had a choice of 'zones' to visit, from industrial to jungle, and different tests of agility, mental acuity and more. You had to pass the tests to receive a crystal, which gave you more time in "The Crystal Dome", where you earned money. It was a bit bizarre but always good fun!

Trailer below. Also, the host is Richard O'Brien, who wrote the Rocky Horror Picture Show!
