@d20Dark Mass Effect 3 (Xbox 360) is pretty closely related to Mass Effect 3 (PS3), wouldn't you say? As well as KINECTaku and Nintendo Life we also run Push Square for PlayStation news and reviews, hence the appearance of a renegade PS3 game
@teamdoa Because there aren't as many applications for using Kinect 40cm from the TV. And yes, you can hook it up to the PC, but you don't get access to official MS libraries and support etc.
You're not alone in that, but it seems necessary to give Kinect the broadest possible view of you. If it means swinging is as accurate as we'd like it to be, that's a winner in my eyes.
99% of the stuff for Kinect on PC has been non-gaming software, and Microsoft wants to open it up to researchers, academics etc. with a PC-exclusive SKU.
If there's a lot of interesting PC games for Kinect we'll look into it, but I don't see it happening.
@Jfilesguy No, we won't be reviewing them — it's my understanding they won't be games as much as applications. We'll stick to Xbox 360 as that's what we're good at
I wasn't that keen on Halo 3 but I did love Reach's campaign. I just wish this game had Reach's challenges; that'd keep me playing an awful lot longer!
@Gamer83 Glad you liked the review! I too was pleased at Reach set-up in there; once I started using that I kicked some serious Covenant backside!
I too thought the original multiplayer should be in there, but I'm more than happy with Reach as it's my most-played Halo anyway (a real feat as I hammered 3!)
@dirtyvu If you say "library" it asks if you want to quit your current game and then takes you to the library; it's not quite seamless.
As someone who spent a whole chunk of time scanning in Metroid Prime I thought the scan feature here was good but not brilliant; I didn't feel it was adding to the world like I did in MP.
I think Microsoft realises that PC users have made Kinect very popular, and that giving them improvements first is a good way to make progress on the inevitable Kinect 2. Game developers are clearly still getting to grips with Kinect 1 — I think a new model and SDK might do more harm than good!
@jaxim Honestly I haven't spent enough time with YS:FE2012 to answer that, but there is a demo available on Xbox Live now if you want to try YS for yourself!
That's exactly how I felt about it: it really surprised me. I would have liked a better career mode — I didn't get a real sense of progression here — but the core game itself is as fun as any dance game I've played on Kinect (though I've only really played the duffers).
@pellissier I don't think Microsoft has the right or desire to dictate what menus developers can use with Kinect any more than it can with a pad. Sure, it provides libraries and support I think it's up to devs to figure out what works and what doesn't. We saw it with Wii, I'm sure we'll see it with Kinect.
@d20dark I think you're right in that there are a lot of developers trying to sneak in a turkey on Kinect, but that's where sites like ours can help out
@ManicMilner Interesting that you mention Wii ports — off the top of my head I can't think of any games that have come straight from Wii to Kinect. There's certainly games on both formats, but usually the two are totally different: Michael Jackson, for example.
@abHS4L Valid point, though having used the PlayStation Eye camera quite a bit too I think Kinect is streets ahead! A bump in resolution would always help though
Kinect is definitely a work in progress — I'm sure the next version will be greatly enhanced, just like the Wii Remote was upgraded to include MotionPlus. It's just a case of when that'll be!
@Cleets What's the length of Child of Eden got to do with it? Likewise, why mention sales? Gaming's about what you like and enjoy, not what other people are buying or how long games are, surely.
I agree: Kinect has had some really good games lately. Sure, it's had some stinkers too, but show me a platform that hasn't!
Kinect was always supposed to be about families and kids anyway — if you look back at the original 'concept' video it was kids and parents, not core gamers.
@pwllem Fair point, perhaps I've underestimated the crossover appeal, but I still believe that people who go for Windows Phone devices — while likely to love Kinect too — might not go for Kinectimals. Put it in Halo or Forza and we're in business, but I guess you never know
What's most interesting about this is who it appeals to: who plays Kinectimals and has a Windows Phone? The two appeal to totally different markets. I agree that this is a good start but I'd hope to see more in future.
@Gertmin This is Blitz Games' 6th or 7th Kinect game now but I'd be really interested to know how many have made a profit. Of course these are just as work for hire which — if you've played Game Dev Story — you'll know aren't usually the money-makers!

Re: Crimson Dragon Swoops On Japan on 13th June
@teamdoa For £9.99 I think it'll offer plenty of content. I've loved what I've played of it so far — it's every bit as good as Child of Eden!
Re: Review: Kinect Star Wars (Xbox 360)
@teamdoa From what I've heard, around 10 studios had hands in this. Besides, the Ghostbusters game wasn't that bad, was it?

Yep, coming "early 2012" I believe!

I'll certainly share any more rubbish ones!

On closer inspection I'm not even sure they're really stood on the carpet.
Re: Review: Kinect Sports: Season Two (Xbox 360)
If GameSpot thinks the darts sucks in this game, they should try out Game Party: In Motion.

I secretly wouldn't mind making friends with Elmo, Cookie Monster and crew but I'm not sure my wife would approve!
Re: Review: Forza Motorsport 4 (Xbox 360)

Not any more!
Re: Kinectimals Now with Bears - Now with More Bears
DLC - yes, it's called Bear Island and it's out in a few weeks. Not 100% sure on a release date but I'll investigate!

Not according to Andriasang!

Re: Review: Rise of Nightmares (Xbox 360)
This game needed more puzzles and fewer doors. If I never have to swipe to open another door, it's too soon.
Re: Out Today: Leedmees (Xbox Live Arcade)
Really glad you guys are enjoying this game — think I'll have to pick it up ASAP
