Re: Incredibly, Sony Is Bringing MLB The Show 21 To Xbox Game Pass

xMightyMatt14x

@UltimateOtaku91 I agree with you that maybe Sony is testing the waters to think about improving PS Plus or PS Now. I will say though that they will need to invest in more companies and games to make something like Gamepass work. Their top tier games are incredible but there’s no denying they are spread out. To make a subscription service work long term you need to sustain it with regular releases. That’s why MS has bought so many studios (alongside Bethesda) and even allowed for more side projects within studios to be tried. They’re trying to get a revolving door going and sustain it mixing up AAA with fun side games in a consistent manner. They’re obviously still building to this but have been preparing for it with acquisitions and heavy investment. Sony would either have to get more studios, buy up more timed exclusives and release them on their own Gamepass or invest in more AA projects that fill in the gaps. Again their top tier stuff is amazing but they only have a handful of studios and each top notch game takes 4-5 years to make now and can be played through in a matter of 20-60 hours with no multiplayer component to keep people there. I don’t think Sony is prepared for a GamePass service. But again, they could also just simply start adding their big hitters day 1 to PS Plus and that might make a difference.

Re: Pick One: Which Of These Classic Lord Of The Rings Games Was Your Favourite?

xMightyMatt14x

@Souldin like Justifier said it was ROTK that had coop. The two towers though was an awesome game. Both two towers and ROTK are hugely underrated games based on movie plots. Most games like that are awful.

@Justifier The Third Age was awesome! I probably played through that campaign four times at least. I loved how it did it’s own story but followed along with the epic action of the main story. The dwarf character was my guy in that.

@UltimateOtaku91 I loved the Battle for Middle Earth series. Hands down my favorite RTS campaign. I’m a huge LOTr fan and it felt like playing through the movies. I also liked the heroes and abilities. The first was my favorite. The second did more but the first game captured the movie moments in a brilliant way.

@Enigk I think the first one was made by a different company and followed the books more closely than the movies. Still solid though not as action packed.

In case you guys haven’t guessed, the LOTR universe is probably my favorite universe so I’m in love with most things LOTR. Lol It’s great to see other people enjoyed these as well

Re: Microsoft Ranks Sixth In Metacritic's Top Game Publishers Of 2020

xMightyMatt14x

This is surprising. I’ll start by saying I’m a major Xbox guy, but 1) I’m surprised how low Sony was ranked because they do make quality games and 2) I’m REALLY surprised how low Nintendo was ranked as they are the most creative when it comes to gameplay of anyone. They’re stuff might more often be for kids but their quality is nearly unmatched.

So as an Xbox guy who loves all things Xbox related, the logical side of me is confused. I do think Xbox deserves more credit for last year because of games like wasteland, Microsoft flight sim, Battletoads and dungeons. But I’m confused at the lower rating for Nintendo.

Re: Xbox Is Reportedly 'Heavily Involved' With Big Third Party Studios For Future Exclusives

xMightyMatt14x

@Stocksy I get what you’re saying. But let’s put things in context. The studios that were purchased in 2017 all either had just released or were about to release their projects. They DID release them (some to very high or pretty solid acclaim like wasteland 3, outer worlds, etc.) though they were fulfilling their multiplat obligations. Some of the other new studios which had released games have taken longer to focus and invest new resources under the Microsoft umbrella, including undead labs, compulsion, ninja theory, and double fine. The “low output” is accurate but this is also an age where top tier games take 4-5 years to complete and all of these studios are trying to make top tier games, reaching above their historical quality of output, so we can assume that when the long development periods after 2017-18 come (2022-2023) the efforts will start to be revealed. The list of announced projects alone is massive, let alone some potentially unannounced games.

Basically, the fruits are coming and the proof is there. It’s not like it was before.

Re: Everwild’s Lead Designer Says Its ‘Something The World Hasn’t Seen Before’

xMightyMatt14x

@LX_FENIX I love sea of thieves. But in all honesty this one hasn’t excited me yet. However I do believe it’s possible to have an incredible single player experience within a world that does have open online multiplayer as a mechanic. So I wouldn’t necessarily say that if it is an online multiplayer game then it automatically fits a certain category and is by virtue non-creative and/or disappointing. Someone could actually say the same about the repetitive single player experiences we see everywhere. We basically will just have to see what new mechanics and world interaction this game brings. It still could end up being disappointing but it may not fit in with every other online multiplayer game just because it has it, and it could very well be something new and innovative.

Re: Expect Microsoft To Host Bethesda Event Sometime In Mid-March, Says Industry Insider

xMightyMatt14x

I understand the idea of a transition period (where initial games may be timed exclusive and later games are full on a case by case basis). This is rational and still would lead people to gamepass.

The internet me, though, wants exclusivity because I’m just tired of seeing complaints and pushes for answers to exclusivity whenever Sony people (who are the loudest voice on the internet) feel threatened. Every base, including Nintendo and Xbox, has it’s whiners, but man they seem to come in large numbers whenever PS is threatened with possibly not having something go it’s way. You see thousands of articles analyzing, questioning, or complaining,

But that’s just the internet me who wants to spite lol. The normal everyday life me who has friends who mainly play PS just will be happy to get these on gamepass lol

Re: Marvel's Avengers For Xbox Series X Officially Arrives This March

xMightyMatt14x

Until this is f2p the only Avengers game I will play is Captain America and the Avengers on SNES. Tough but awesome old school beat em up.

This one never looked interesting, and the Spider-Man thing (though obviously not Crystal Dynamics fault) was irritating. They should have just made a story epic with more focus on combat and narrative. Then move on to a new project.
