Re: So Long, And Thanks for All the Clicks

So sorry to see this happen. Although the community may have been small, it was friendly and like Carlsberg, the best site for Xbox on the interweb thingie (probably). Thank you all for your contributions, sorry that your efforts have brought you all so little in the way of rewards. I believe in Karma (kinda) and somehow, somewhere, you will gey your reward.

Re: E3 2016: Microsoft Announces Clubs on Xbox Live

Solid! Something like this has been needed for a long time. Imagine a nice big COD club - policed. Gaming without anlkebiters describing how they'd like to assault your mother (or their own for the 6 fingered club! Abusers kicked from the club. Deffo. A draw.

Re: Editor's Opinion: The Search for Honest Game Reviews

Great article.
I generally know what I intend to buy before I read a review so a 'good or bad' review has little impact on that other than maybe delaying the purchase a little if it's particularly bad until issues get patched.
I have, however, bought games (that I fully intended tobuy anyway) that got good reviews that were, at time of purchase, IMO, pants. Such is life.

Re: Review: Dark Souls III (Xbox One)

Thanks for this great review. I WAS waiting for the review before purchase but weakened and bought it anyway. Loving and hating at the same time (well it is Dark Souls innit?). The first boss is sufficiently challenging to remind a returning player what they are in for whilst introducing the slightly faster enemy mechanic. The refreshing twang/thump of a backstab reminds you exactly what you are playing though, as does death in a careless moment. Die often and prosper!

Re: Rumour: FCC Listing Hints at New Xbox One Model - Potentially Set for Stealth E3 Launch?

sorethumbed

Even though I was a day 1 purchaser, I knew in my heart that Microsoft had dropped the ball with this console (as a few of you may remember). They have to do something serious if they are at all concerned about market share and a slim box just won't cut it. My guess is on two new consoles, a slim as some suggest but also a beefed up new console capable of delivering better graphics delivered next year or for Christmas. I just hope they don't make the mistake of pushing it alongside hololens (this console is hololens capable), if they do, it won't be a shot in the foot, more like a shotgun blowing it off.

Re: Rumour: Xbox NeXt Leaked via Linkedin?

Phil Spencer has already said that he's 'not a fan" of the halfway step solutions, he likes whole numbers so Boner.5 is probably not an option. An early release more capable console is more likely IMO. That way, those who want VR and upped graphics can get them by paying for them. That way, there might just be overlapping console types XBox/XBoxVR. Not a problem for me, you will get what you pay for, like PC's.

Re: Review: Quantum Break (Xbox One)

Like @BAMozzy, I have zero interest in a TV show with some gaming content. It's like two things that the developers have little confidence in, a standalone game and a standalone TV show, they don't think either stands on its own.
Ask the question, strip out the game, is it a good TV's series or strip out the TV and does the game stand up on its own. From what I've read, the answer is No and No. For me, that's nuff said.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Ninety Six

@crippyd you might just have a bit of difficulty with the old Dark Souls "co-op" as there isn't in the strictest sense of the word. It's the weird put a marker down and someone picks it up scenario. I will be kicking off a new DS character and doing a run through as I love that game. Maybe I'll pick your marker up or vice versa. problem is, there's no control over it.

Re: Talking Point: What Games Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue Ninety Five

Yeah, that's a problem in a few games where you (mainly) play solo. An over cautious approach with survival as a priority means that when you need damage, you ain't got. That's why I like Dark Souls, there really isn't any point in trying to create a 'survivor' as most of the biggies can 1-2 shot you so you learn early to not get hit. You need a bit of survivability for the trash, that's all. I will give it another go at some point, just need to get my timing off.

Re: Fable Legends Cancelled, Lionhead Studios to Close

I played the Legends Beta and thought that it was ok for a freebie although I was a bit concerned at its state, considering the length of the beta. There were things that I said to myself 'Well hopefully it will be in the final release'. Say that often enough and you begin to worry. Really sorry to see them gone as Fable is one of my all time favourite franchises.

Re: Poll: Pure Xbox 2016 Reader Survey

Like many, I come here because I'm comfortable with the site and the forums. I would like more triple A reviews as I feel that I can trust the reviewers here. That being said, if it was at the expense of reviewing the smaller games then no because there are many of those that I've picked up and enjoyed after a review here. Nowadays, this is pretty much the only review site I visit.

Re: Is Microsoft Looking To Break The Console Cycle?

There will be a lot of opposition out there though, I expect, after the last time. The whole cross platform thing does appeal though. I'm running on the beta of another crossplatformer and after playing on PC I quickly logged off and on on my Xbox one and took up exactly where I left off, impressive.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

I'm not getting it either, for no other reason than I overspent at Christmas. Purchasing is off the agenda till April at least so it's back catalog and F2P till then. Looks like it might be a blast though.

On the topic though, I find it hilarious, they'll be giving the guy death threats next. Sad peeps.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

@Utena-mobile I've got a loft full of gaming equipment I no longer use. What I'm advocating is 'one ring to bind them all' then I don't have to 'in the darkness find them'. At the moment, you have a console with a console o/s and a side order of Windows 10. I want the machine that flips that, sits under my TV and does the lot. God forbid, someone might even write a PS emulator for it πŸ˜€πŸ˜€
It wouldn't be a PC, it wouldn't be an Xbox, it would be a games console.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

Don't think anyone here is panicking or fear mongering, just commenting on the inevitability (and fear of) change. For people who toy with equipment running at the edge of what's possible, many gamers are extremely conservative.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

@BAMozzy, I think the launch of Fable Legends is a 'toe in the water' for how well Xplatform will work. For instance, language. Let's face it, the PC gaming world is a no holds barred environment compared to live, which code of conduct will prevail? If the communities don't tear each other to shreds then I think MS will push the integration harder. From a developers perspective, it works as well. As with all things, time will tell. My money is on the cost reductions it would bring being a fair driver.

Re: Editor's Opinion: Give Me A Quantum Break

@BAMozzy, different types of games though, the MMORPG PC market is huge125. Million active steam accounts (people who have purchased in the last two weeks - I bet Xbox and PS4 would kill for those sorts of numbers). The estimate is 200 million plus PC gamers in China alone, I think Nvidia had Several hundred million user optimisation for gaming using their cards. In my opinion, the next 'under the tv' box will run PC & Xbox games, will be like a steam box (different grades for different purses - the more you pay the better the graphics - greater draw distance etc.) and lose the Xbox logo. It will be a Windows xx box and just be called a Microsoft Console. The lines are already blurring and we are only a couple of years into the market for the Xbox one.
