Really sad to hear the news I only found this site a few months back and have loved it ever since as it has become my regular source for all things Xbox.
I though the did a great job this year, just a little better that last. Love the new Slim but i'm not going to upgrade i'll wait for Scorpio. Good range of games like most people Recore is a big not sure till I see more of it but I"m not disappointed by it. Phill Spencer showed that he is taking XBox in the right direction and by adding things like Play Anywhere i'm hopping the companies start adding more cross play capabilities to there games, now all Microsoft need to do is make a phone that can run the games also and i'll be happy to but one also for mobile gaming either though i would keep my Android always.
I would have preferred a version of a wireless controller as well, but anyway i just want this game, I loved the first one and still play it today, the new features the game look great. And with a expanded community by adding the PS4 (Sigh i can't believe I said that even though i own one also, but i game on my xbox) hopefully it will have the recognition the game deserves.
To be honest i'm not surprised, and not sure if i would have even used it as now days i rarely watch live TV most times I'm either playing games or if i am watching a program i'm streaming it from Netflix, Stan or some other service on console instead.
I don't think it's weird at all, i see it as nothing but a attempt by Activision to do one of two things, or possibly both. 1. If anybody bothers to buy it those sale figures will be used in final figures when they are asked "How well did COD sell in the financial period" to bolster the sales figures of COD Infinite and that's the same reason they are releasing COD infinite with Modern Warfare Remastered as sales for COD have been falling for a while mainly because people are sick of the future route the series was taking. 2. The other reason is i see it as nothing but a slap in the face of the consumer and a grab for more money, you also only get 1 DLC so need to buy all the rest, this really should include all DLC free with it.
They know people want a Remastered version as they have been listening to the COD community and even though they are doing this by ripping people off and making them buy the "COD Infinite Legacy Edition" as the only way to get it (just a note in Australia COD Infinite $99, COD Infinite Legacy $120,COD Infinite Pro$169)
While Early COD hold a fond place in my heart i have not enjoyed it since COD Ghosts, and that's when there sales figures started to slip, also the games community has changed when they were doing early World War titles the average gamer was a lot older, now if you play COD it's nothing but screaming 12 year old's, and that has also driven a lot of players away. Even the team at Dice listen to the gaming community and understood the need to change and they have taken the gamble to bring out "Battlefield 1" and gone back to WWI. So it will be interesting to see how this pans out but if the thumbs up and down on "Youtube"and the comments on it are anything to go it seams Dice have done the right thing.
Glad to get back to a early war era shooter again apart from titanfall which is genuine fun to play Still today as I can't wait for the sequel.
From only a trailer at the moment I have to say it kicks the living $hit out of the latest COD trailer. Don't get me wrong I play both but the BF1 trailer is enough to show that this is what the fans want just compare the thumbs up and down on each trailer on YouTube
@KelticDevil Couldn't agree more, every point you raised is so true.
Having been a gamer since my day's in the arcade playing pong, the console cycle has been a stagnate one for a many years now with not much innovation at all, and it will be very interesting to see how this will all play out.
I have collected consoles since my Atari 2600 when it first released to the public and I have seen many generations come and go and i am hoping that this is a new wake up call to the companies that things need to change.
And with the stories that are going around about what the Nintendo NX may actually be, it again may show that at least like most times Nintendo are leading the way in hardware innovation (apart from there very slow uptake from cartridges to optical media, unless you count the fact they were headed that way when they partnered with Sony to work on there CD expansion that went on to become the Playstation) and i am very excited to see what this console turns out to be but it seems they are always the one company trying to lead the innovation of console hardware.
Hell they have even done (yes it was a flop) the VR scene with the Virtual Boy even though it was really only a 3D attempt, and it's only now that others are trying and if they all had of tried to take it on then imagine where gaming would be now.
Now i am no Fanboy to any company but i have to agree Sony always seems to be the one company that lets others try to innovate and if it works they then decide to copy it and try to improve on the product, or let the other companies take the heat for something that didn't work out like the Xbox One launch even though you can guarantee they had a very similar policy set ready to run.
I was lucky enough to be in the Alpha, Closed Beta & Open Beta and launch can't come quick enough, this game was better than my expectations, it has to be the best modern day MMORPG that i have played in a long time, and the Dark Zone hold the best fun of all, just make sure you go in with a group as most people do travel in a squad of 4 (safety in numbers people) and fire fights will occur often. Ill be picking up my Sleep Agent edition at midnight launch and will be drinking energy drinks & coffee for the next few day.
As I stated in Kens blog while I like most would go for maybe a single upgrade over the life span of a system, I dread to think (and highly doubt it) that Microsoft would bring out multiple upgrades and Phil basically stated that they want to keep the systems separate as the fan base for each system is different and i can see where he is coming from.
The true "Hardcore" pc gamer likes to spend big on there gaming rigs several $1000's in some cases but the average lounge chair "Casual" gamer while the may still spend a lot on games each year they would rather a smaller initial spend on the system itself or it would be better to have one or two component upgrades for the system.
But this got me thinking and I now have come to the conclusion that it would be more likely that Microsoft may go the same route as the smartphone business model where through out the lifespan of a console they may release various types of it, a great example is Apples iphone 6, there are 4 version ( iphone 6, iphone 6+, iphone 6s & iphone 6s+ ) now while the use and base software is pretty much the same in all it is what is under the hood that differs the most and consider that most consoles now cost the same as a mobile phone anyway the consumers may go for it.
So could we see a something like this happen with the Xbox.... 1. Xbox One - The original console version of people that just want the basic experience. 2. Xbox One plus - Maybe more or better RAM for people who multitask by giving people who Twitch stream and run Snap apps a better & faster experience. 3. Xbox One S - A system that has both 1 & 2 and also gives it a better GPU for better graphics all in glorious 4K (for those that have a TV that can run it).. 4. Xbox One S+ - A system at has all of 3 and also a larger and faster SSHD.
Now this model is not far from what i see happening as they have already done it in this generation of Next Gen system, both Microsoft & Sony have already released a upgraded version of there console with a larger and better HD due to the fact they should have had a bigger one to start with. But they have also gone the way of the upgrade your one system by letting you ad you own size external HD so this could also be the route they go down (as long as they do it themselves and don't let 3rd party hardware support do this i'd be OK with it).
Anyway that's the way I see things at them moment but guess we won't know until it happens and we see something physical out there in the market place and how well it is taken up by the consumer system.
Wow haven't played a racer like this sine the Micro-Machines series, i know there have been others just didn't like the look of them, But this look like fun i'll have to give it a go, also Wipeout was a great series.
Great article Ken, and it gave me such a fantastic trip back down memory lane i went and set my 32X up again just to how bad it was... Ahhh the memories.

I'm a bit torn up on this one while I am glad to see it Microsoft making a BC title , I really would have liked to have seen this as a remastered game or a sequel released, but i'm still glad as i said for the BC as it is still one of the best looking and fun games that came out on the 360.
Glad to here to many companies are pushing the same games with only a few changes year after year, they need to take there time at least 2 years before and the next in a series of games comes out and in between it's ok release DLC but only if it a large scale DLC not some rehashed micro transaction driven re-skinned piece of garbage (yes i'm looking at you COD and Destiny as well as others).
While I'm sorry to hear it's delayed I'm also glad they are taking there time as to many games this generation have been released way to early and lead to awful bug multi patches and just plan crap games being released. Companies need to start taking there time and realize that the players would be happy to wait for a better product and not some garbage pushed out for quick money.
Got this on my PC when it released on STEAM but to get it to run in ultra graphic settings takes a beast of a machine. The trailer if it is running on Xbox One here looks just as good without buying a $1000 PC gaming rig.... and as for game play trust me it great fun one of the best open world survival games i have ever played in over 40 years of gaming.
This proving yet again why I have been buying more games for my Xbox One than my PC or PS4 (lacking in any good first party games). In fact i haven't even played either of them for almost 2 months because i'm to busy playing on my XB1.
Got this on the PC a few years ago now and loved it, so when it came to the Xbox 360 i was right onto to it and it was just as great. If you have not tried it give it a go it's a lot of fun. Now all i hope is that they also bring World of Warplanes & World of Warships to the Xbox One also.
Yep gamer83 is right Dead rising & Dying light are the 2 leaders in zombie games on the Xbox One. They really have to do something amazing to this game to even compete with these titles. If it goes digital it will have to be a lower price say $30 because i don't think people will pay the normal $80 -$100 for this.
I played the Elite Dangerous and the setup used for the keyboard mapping is great so i hope they can use the same type of setup for Day Z. Have been waiting for this for a long time. I still play battlefront II from time to time as it was a great game, I just hope they don't stuff this up.
But regardless I am sure the nerd in all of us will make us buy this be it good or bad.
