Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (Dec 19th)

@XBontendo
I've only played a few games this year - RE2, RE7, and Fallen Order. I think RE2 was the best, but also the most intense - I was pretty happy when I finished it..!

Hoping to finish Fallen Order this year, then try Ryse and maybe MGS5 in the New Year. And maybe a tactical game like Xcom 2 or Desperados 3.

Re: Talking Point: What December 2020 Xbox Games With Gold Do You Want?

@phoenix1 @evan23
I did some sleuthing, and it turns out that Xbox One games on Games for Gold can only be played while you're a subscriber; Xbox360 games are yours to keep even if you discontinue your subscription.

I had no idea!
In which case, it's pretty much the same as PS Plus? But most people will have Game Pass anyway??

Not really sure what the point of Games for Gold is now..

Re: Sales Report Hints At Low Initial Stock For Xbox Series X|S In Japan

sib

I'm in Japan.

Huge numbers of Xbox Series X/S and PS5 were bought by resellers, and are now on the market at inflated prices. Sucks big time.

Also may (or may not) indicate that pre-order sales aren't a good measure of how popular a console is, at least here.

I got my Series S from a reseller, but managed to get it cheaper than retail due to a coupon and a limited time sale..

Re: Talking Point: What Are Your Xbox Series X|S Launch Day Plans?

sib

@mousieone Thanks for the reply.
I heard an SSD makes loading times faster - I was thinking I'd also be able to use it when I do eventually get a Series X for extra storage.

I'm in Japan and, alas, launch day units were only available on pre-order. No news as yet on when the next batch will be up for sale :-/

I could get Valhalla/Cyberpunk to keep me occupied, I guess?

Re: Phil Spencer 'Motivated' By Xbox Series X|S Sellouts In Japan

@redshirtrod

I was a little naive, thinking there wouldn't be much demand for the Xbox in Japan. But, there was..
I have a pre-order in for the PS5, but tbh not sure I can live with something that fugly in the long-term.

In the meantime, I guess I'll be buying an external SSD drive to speed up my Xbox One X..!

Re: Phil Spencer: It Feels Very Different To Play Games On Xbox Series X

The upgrade I'm most looking forward to is lack of loading times.

I'm fine with current framerates/resolutions, to be honest, but it's a pain to turn on my XboX One X and have to wait for it to "start up", then choose a game and wait for that to "load".

As I understand it, all this waiting time will disappear thanks to the ultrafast SSD drives. Gonna be amazing.
