Disappointed to see sprint and abilities back. Everything else looked great.
It looks fantastic, I really can't wait.
Definitely looks like the best Halo since the Bungie days. A real spiritual throwback to Halo Combat Evolved. Really loved it.
Some of the games towards the end were good but halo didn't look like a next gen game.
Looked great to me, the one highlight of the show.
@Richnj I really enjoy the abilites, especially those found in Halo 5. I'm sure there will still be classic MP without them though. Will be a bit silly if everyone is just shooting the grappling hook everywhere. I'm not sure why you wouldn't want Sprint enable in short bursts between level sections / objectives - I can understand if you want the slower paced, more methodical approach to gun fights, but you wont need to use sprint for that.
It looks amazing
@sikthvash Because adding sprint is the reason why the long distance between objectives exists in the first place. There are also video examples of this. Showing Halo 3 vs Halo 5 on Midship. It takes Players longer to get to the same location. The levels are designed larger to accommodate sprint.
As has been argued a million times over on Halo Waypoint, the very addition of abilities requires level design with those abilities in mind. This means ledges get higher so that players have th chance to use clamber, and corridors get longer for the same reason. Sprint also slows down the game. First because of the longer distances between fights, but also because players have to lower their weapon to travel, and choosing travel vs combat, rather than being able to do both at the same time.
Just look at a game like Doom. There's nothing slow about it.
As someone that didn't grow up with the original halo trilogy I found it pretty underwhelming. I've played through the MCC so have sampled the older games but played both 4 and 5 at launch.
It looked a lot like a remaster of those games to my eyes. Halo 5 on the Xbox one x seemed to be a lot more visually impressive, particularly in terms of character models. I wasn't expecting the brutes to look like orcs from lord of the rings, was hoping for some decent fur rendering like those depicted in the halo 2 remastered cutscenes.
Interested to hear the views of halo veterans and other new players. Is my disappointment more linked to my lack of nostalgia for the original games?
Seems absolutely cool!
@Neither_scene I definitely see your point, however in my personal opinion, Halo 5 was very pretty, but had little else going for it. It was all style, and no substance. This looks like a return to the more open-ended gameplay of the earlier titles, and the art style is wonderful.
It's definitely recapturing the feel of earlier games in it's openness, but I felt it was a rather subdued demo. It could have done with a bit of pizazz to finish with.
I really liked it, but didn’t love it. And this coming from a big Halo fan. The gameplay looked really cool. It was just missing that huge “WOW!!” moment. I like that it is more open than the last couple games.
I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on it!
Reduced loading times aside, it doesn’t look much better than what current consoles are capable of 🙄
Looks pretty good. I think playing on Series X will help me appreciate it a lot more.
First thoughts were it's kinda like Borderlands but with better graphics..
Then I remembered that I loved Borderlands..!!
Big thumbs up from me.
Looking forward to giving it a go this christmas
