Re: 60 FPS Will Be The Standard Output On Xbox Series X, Says Aaron Greenberg

I must be one of the few gamers that really doesn't care all that much about framerate. Obviously it's a problem when some games drop to 20/25 fps at times (looking at you Dark Souls and Bloodborne!) but for the most part I'm perfectly fine with 30fps and will even choose it over 60 if it gives me better resolution and graphical quality.

I don't play a great deal of first person shooters though which probably benefit most from the smoother gameplay.

Re: Skater XL Grinds Onto Xbox One This July

I've had a little go on the early access PC version and the controls feel quite nice.

The game world is so empty though. Presumably they've got some plans for the full release but it's a little concerning and they haven't really showed much off of what the gampelay entails (other than the skating of course).

Still, even if the game is completely barren, it could still be fun to whack on a few tunes and finally have a nice little gaming skate session again. It's been a while.

They definitely do seem to be setting up for something special.

They've seemingly got the most powerful console again, they've got a fantastic offering in Game Pass, and if they can really nail the streaming side of things they've potentially got the likes of Stadia dominated there as well.

It seems to me like they're really setting up on all fronts this coming gen.

It's looking like even if people don't buy the new Xbox they can still join the platform, be it through an Xbox One, a PC, or streaming on their phone or a computer.

The final piece of the puzzle is of course the most important though - the games.

Streets of Rage! Only played about half hour or so but really enjoyed it. It feels like it's as great as I'd hoped.

The fact it's on Game Pass is an absolute joy and I've already convinced a couple of friends to make sure they download it and get playing soon.

Re: Talking Point: What Was Your First Xbox Console And Game?

360 for me.

I was intrigued by the original Xbox at the time but already had a PS2 and GameCube and couldn't really justify getting my parents to buy me yet another console. Main reason I wanted one was for Blinx the Time Sweeper (yes!) and Oddworld Munch's Oddysee.

I got a 360 about a year or two after launch along with Virtua Tennis 3 and John Woo's Stranglehold (what a game!). The 360 was my main console til PS3 took over.

Right now I've got 3 OG Xboxs, 2 360s, a One S and a One X.

I wanna check out the new Ori game soon, although shamefully I'm yet to finish Blind Forest so should probably tick that one off first.

I haven't been playing a great deal lately but have been digging my way through Steamworld Dig on Stadia and feel like I'm getting close to the end.

Re: Here's What's Coming To Xbox One Next Week

Ooooh that's a pretty solid list.

  • Freedom Finger is good. It's a standard side-scrolling shooter but the soundtrack is great, it's got a good sense of humour with the likes of Nolan North and John DiMaggio in the cast, and the gameplay is fun enough to keep it entertaining. (8/10)
  • Bears Can't Drift is a basic kart racer that controls well but is ultimately pretty empty. Can be quite fun in multiplayer though. (5/10)
  • Duck Souls is an enjoyable little platformer as well. Along the lines of Super Meat Boy but way more pixelated. (7/10)

Welcome back PX!

Game Pass is excellent, as is the One X, as well as the back compatibility of the console.

The Series X sounds really exciting too. Looking like some great times ahead for gaming and Xbox

Edit: Oooh the new Elite controller is a win too. Very nice.
