This is huge news! Microsoft just casually dropped the massive announcement that Rockstar Games epic Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to Xbox Game Pass for console. It'll be available on May 7th, but the downside is that the highly-popular Grand Theft Auto V will be leaving at the same time.
The full version of Red Dead Redemption 2 is a sizeable download to say the least, so Microsoft is allowing you to pre-download it right now from the Xbox Game Pass mobile app. You're looking at over 100GB for this one, so make sure you leave yourself plenty of time to grab it.
In regards to GTA V, Microsoft is putting it on sale from now until the time it's removed on May 7th. You'll be able to get it at 20% off its usual price over the next couple of weeks.
Are you excited to get hands-on with Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox Game Pass? Let us know below.

Good, I prefer this over GTA.
Wow! Good on Xbox for getting these awesome deals!
I bought this a while ago one sale. I played it for couple of hours, but just stopped. One day I might return. I wasn't enjoying it as much as the original.
Wow, that's pretty impressive!
This is a great addition to GP. I didnt really enjoy what I played of it but a big 3rd party game like this on GP a year and a half after launch is terrific!
I never got around to playing this. Will do now
One of the best games of all time..
I own GTA V so this is no bad thing for me. Only issue is finding time to invest in a huge game.
@Captain_Chao5 Right? That's my problem with this game. I own it, but I haven't spent nearly enough time with it.
This is great news. I was about to buy this game recently, but it being such a massive game, I didn't think i'd be able to invest enough time in it to be worth a purchase. I'll definitely give this a try on gamepass, and won't feel any guilt if I don't have the time for it.
Great news, even if I do have it already. Hopefully this will give R* a kick up the backside in fixing some of the long term online bugs, though I’m not holding my breath on that one 🙄
Btw, where is that picture at the top of the article from? Surely it’s high end PC screenshot? The detail on the horse is crazy
@Nightcrawler71 As far as I know, it's an Xbox shot.
I have this game on the PS4 and as great as this is for Gamepass, I can't see me being able to finish the game in the amount of time it will be available on Gamepass, the game is freaking huge.
Game Pass continuing to absolutely kill it with deals like this.
Serious Question. I already own this on disc.If I delete it from my xbox one,and download when the gamepass version is out,will I lose my progress? Would prefer to play this a few months without having to put in the disc.
@FraserG @Captain_Chao5
I am the same way. I am trying to work through a backlog of games & not sure if I’ll be able to play RDR2 by the time it leaves Game Pass.
@hulkie
No. I own lots of games on disc that are on Game Pass. I have never had a problem.
Your game save will remain the same. Just make sure that you don’t delete the “save game” portion when you delete RDR2 off your Xbox.
SO MANY TIMES I almost pulled the trigger on this when it was on sale. Got burnt recently when I bought Nier full price (worth it, though). Now, finally, self-restraint has won the day!
I am really happy with the Game pass service .
@hulkie Yes if it's on Game Pass you don't need the disc but you don't even need to delete and download again. The console will check if the game is on Game Pass or the disc is inserted, it doesn't matter if you installed the game using a disc or downloading on Game Pass.
I literally just bought this. Heck.
@BlueOcean Wow ,interesting to know. Time to redownload the disc again.Because the disc will be much quicker to download.Then I will just use the game pass version till its taken off. I figure it will stay on gamepass at least 4 months,just like gta 5 did.
Never took the time to get into RDR2 when it was released but since then have upgraded to an Xbox One X and a better TV so looking forward to giving it another go.
Can’t see it on the Game Pass app in the UK to pre-download though, am I just not looking in the right place?
