I caved this month. I used to be able to collect enough points that it didn't get in the way of life. With the nerfs, that wasn't happening. Ended up buying 3 month pass from on online seller. c
I liked the FROG best. The music with BLUR would have annoyed me very rapidly. Liked the Grand Tourismo game idea. I wonder if it got developed any further than that screen...!
What a fantastic piece! I'm glad to read that you feel you're in a better place. I've just come off anti depressants, having battled mental illness at work for many years. I left, full time, work last September and have had other, much less stressful jobs since. Video games have been a constant source of support, especially when playing with my children, along with tabletop games; anything which provides a distraction, for me, was welcomed. I decided to retrain as a Mental Health Nurse and start next month. All the best, Daniel. Take care.
So excited to play this one. Lego games are always a hit in our house. We've got Star Wars ones in various formats. Yesterday I got Lego City Undercover on sale with my Reward Points. I just hope the release date's not too far off!
It made me laugh the first time I played it. As time's gone on, I've found it less and less fun. It's just so samey and the controls suck the life out of it for me. My son loves it so I play it with him but I can't shake the feeling that it is really lacking.
Game pass ultimate is the thing I aim for each month. I've also bought Doom64 (ironically a few weeks before it was free on Game pass) and a lovely little game called Bomber Crew which is a real time management bombing sim?! Anyway, I've had a lot of fun playing it! In a way the rewards remind me a tiny bit of when Nintendo Club was running and there were lots of fun things to investigate.
I'm somewhere around the 8k mark, I think. I've really enjoyed doing it; really appreciated Maka's Guides. I've like that I've played games I wouldn't normally have picked up like Pikuniku and The Touryst. I'm just finishing Rain on Your Parade which features an Achievement Cat! Excellent gaming first!
I've made a point of doing them this month and stand at about 15.5k. I wanted enough for the Gamepass Ultimate subscription. I'll be getting that next month. Long term, I want to get as close as possible to covering the cost of Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga, as I'd love to get it as soon as it is released.
After reading the comments, I'm pretty intrigued by all of these. Great month! as many have said, Lego games with children are huge fun (even if it means going back to the split screen where you can't stray far apart.)
@unionjackboy Excellent! I'm up to nearly 11k, so seem to be achieving a similar level of success. It's going to be another money saver! Thanks for the advice!
@FraserG Thanks so much for this! Last month, I worked at the Microsoft Rewards and saved enough to buy my son a Sonic game, essentially for free. So this month I took the plunge and signed up with the Gamepass quests. I joined afew days ago and completed some things. I was confused why the Daily quests didn't refresh, then I noticed everything, months and weekly had vanished too. This guide should help me make the most of this month's challenges. Love Enter the Gungeon's quest. I'd never played it and had an absolute blast!
2 quick questions, if I may. 1) I assume the daily quests do reset daily!?
2) Is it realistic to aim for 12,000 points in a month? (I'm looking at Gamepass Ultimate sub).
Sands of Time is my favourite but I played it on NGC (and Warrior Within) so had to vote for The Two Thrones which is the only one I've played on xbox but, unlike the other 2, I didn't finish. I got stuck somehow.
I've only had an xbox one for a few weeks and I find the UI has taken a bit of getting used to. I found stuff on the 360 much easier to navigate. This one looks like more xbox one and I'm sure that, by the time I get round to buying one, I'll have mastered the current one so this one will be superb!
I really enjoy Gamepass. I think it's great value. I don't mind that games aren't on there forever. It's very rare I play a game to completion and, if I wanted to, I could probably finish it before it left the service. Failing that, buying it, at a discount is fine. The problem I've always had with digital is that there are rarely any refunds. I've regretted buying digital, picking up a game I hated and being stuck with it. Gamepass works for me as installing something different is easy.
I loved the X-Wing, series on PC. I'd really like to see a similar idea here: multiplayer squadron missions. I would happily go up against AI teams. If it is just space combat against real players, it could fall into the trap of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter where all pvp combat basically boiled down to who could fly in the tightest circle.
@pip_muzz Yes! This is pretty much my feeling too. I also am a much more cautious buyer of digital content knowing there's no way to sell my purchase, if I don't like it (or get bored or finish it). I tend to only buy stuff digitally if it is heavily discounted. On other platforms, I've been disappointed with digital purchases so I am keen for physical to stay as long as possible.
It's interesting that we are at a point some players don't like the idea of a game being finished. I'd have thought that would be music to certain company's ears!

Re: How To Complete All Xbox Game Pass Quests In 2021
@ralphdibny yep, I'm hoping it's not a sign of things to come in the near future. I don't think the pc is an option for me.
Re: Soapbox: Enter The Matrix And Path Of Neo Were Masterpieces And I Won’t Hear Otherwise

Re: Josef Fares Blasts Xbox Series Naming Convention As A 'Total F**king Mess'
I'll hold my hand up and admit that I get confused. I don't find it an easy gaming distinction at all.
If they had kept the numbering thing after the 360 that would have helped. 360, 361, 361x and s, and this would be 362 x and s.
Oh wait, now I'm confused again.
Re: Site News: Thank You For Your Fantastic Support In 2020
@FraserG Wanted to add my voice to the chorus of thanks. You've done a fantastic job this year! Happy Christmas!

Indy's a definite and I'm interested enough in Swimsanity to give it a go (I'm always on the look out for couch co-ops).

Still hooked on Wreckfest but I've also got plans for Hotshot Racing

Yep. That's looking like a gamepass winner for me!

Wreckfest for me. I am so enjoying it

@Gipsons I may have to bide my time then; I hadn't realised they were that sort of price.
Re: Three More Games Are Now Available With Xbox Game Pass
@Gipsons Yes, ultimately I would like to do the same.

@FraserG Yes, it is indeed most excellent! Thanks for the sale details
Re: Random: Footage Surfaces Of Unreleased Lord Of The Rings Demo
Those levels look amazing. I'm conflicted: it's a shame the game never got made but as Jon says, the Hobbit films were nowhere near as good as LOTR.

How about something cutting edge, groundbreaking and unique? That's right, may I present: Fifa '21 Xbox series X special edition.
On a more serious note, I agree with @heavyarms55 that different colours are nice. But keep it simple black, white and red.

@KelticDevil Thanks! I will check them out (and keep a close eye on where I'm driving!)
Re: How Well Do You Know Forza Horizon?
See the title of this quiz filled me with dread. Then I score 0 and realise the dread was justified. Oh well.
(Still enjoyed it though)
