We all remember the iconic original Xbox dashboard and its incredible intro sequence (the latter still viewable today with backwards compatible titles on modern consoles) but Microsoft had plenty of alternate ideas for these as well.
A few examples have been published on the Xbox virtual museum, broken down into dashboard concepts titled "BLUR" and "FROG". There are a couple of different designs for each, and they're all wildly different to what we eventually saw.
These are actually available in the form of videos in the museum, so head over there and take a look if you're interested. They include a glimpse at how the likes of store pages and leaderboards would have worked as well.

Wow that original BLUR concept is just so... late 90's! Kinda cool actually all the effects they gave it, but it totally gave me those late 90's sci-fi vibes. The second one was kind of intense with that shotgun sound and that butterflies animation.
With FROG it feels like you are looking at an early concept version of what they later developed as the original Xbox 360 dashboard.
Wow! So cool to see these.
I liked them both, but yeah they are very of their time.
They are more colourful than the dash that they decided to go with and it's interesting that they have a lot of effects and background audio that definitely went away from the 360 onwards, whereas PS always has a lot of ambient sound.
@JetmanUK I miss the ambient sounds from the PS4 dashboard. I still use the dashboard theme from Firewatch, that change the time of day in real time.

@raftos Yeah it is a feature I'd enjoy as an option on Xbox. If they had say five or six options that would be good, I'd like the OG Xbox ambient creepy sounds.
I liked the FROG best. The music with BLUR would have annoyed me very rapidly. Liked the Grand Tourismo game idea. I wonder if it got developed any further than that screen...!
