Re: Roundup: Here's What The Critics Are Saying About Little Nightmares 2

XBontendo

@StonyKL Having played the OG LN & a variety of soulsbourne games I agree with this completely.

I'd say the big difference for me is that in a soulslike game, you become a better play through trial and error. And how you play and the end of the game differs wholly from how you started, simply due to your experience. Great game design, as the currency XP isn't truly needed for you to feel your character has grown.

In little nightmares however (& games like it) you don't really grow, as the experiences are largely tied to the level itself. Any resultant trial & error (with some exceptions, but for the most part) will only help you with the puzzle at hand, and you will always find yourself dying through no fault of your own up to the end.

@PhhhCough That said, I truly enjoyed Little Nightmares, but its brand of trial and error yields a very different type of experience which can certainly be frustrating at times.

Re: Original Xbox Creator Praises Microsoft Following Xbox Live Gold Price Reversal

@NotoriousWhiz I disagree. Gamepass can be sustainable and there would still be good reason to try and increase profits elsewhere: Shareholders.

Companies will often give up goodwill or make bizarre choices as far as consumers/employees are concerned in order to get a boost in stock price or give standard/activist shareholders what they are looking for.

I think this is more about Microsoft being a publically traded company than about the profitablity of any particular facet of their XBox business

I could also be wrong, only time will tell

Re: Sorry, Resident Evil Village's Demo Is PlayStation Exclusive For Now

XBontendo

@UltimateOtaku91 I totally agree, though I would amend to say die hard fans (regardless of system) do it. I would then extend to say this is not unique to video games.

People don't like to see the faults in their own side (whatever that may be) but are all too keen to point out the faults or celebrate the failures of their "enemies".

Thanks to various internet echo chambers this feels like it's only exacerbated in the last couple decades

Re: Phil Spencer: 2021 Is Going To Be An Incredible Year For Xbox Game Pass

@DannyHolland911 last I new FFVII was only a timed exclusive, as with kingdom hearts before it, so I imagine we'll see it as some point, but probably not until a year after initial release

Looked it up just to check myself, not overly worried as my findings seem to jive with what I was expecting
"Piers Harding-Rolls stated on Twitter he had been told by Sony the game was "six months full exclusive and 12 months console exclusive", suggesting it would arrive on PC half a year after PS5, and be free to launch elsewhere after a full year."

Re: CD Projekt Will 'Vigorously' Defend Itself Against Recent Lawsuit

@JayJ Agree to disagree then. I'm largely in the same boat as Kefka, but he's a lot more eloquent then me. I'm not trying to say graphics are the only thing at play here, and I'm not thinking about it as a gamer, but in the specific instance of this stock and the validity of a lawsuit from shareholders. Not trying to press buttons, sorry

Re: CD Projekt Will 'Vigorously' Defend Itself Against Recent Lawsuit

@JayJ Not at all, but it is misleading to not show footage for a console version of a game and let the market assume it looks like what you've shown.

Not trying to press buttons and if you like the game, that's great, just saying I think the lawsuit has weight. As I said earlier, my profession is in the stock market so it's hard not to look at it from an investor angle
