It's now been four years since Crystal Dynamics and Core Design wrapped up the modern Tomb Raider trilogy with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but as you'd expect, more titles are planned for the future.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the franchise, and speaking about it, Crystal Dynamics game director Will Kerslake shared some insight into the "unification" the team is planning in the future.
"We have big ambitions for the future of Tomb Raider. Our origin trilogy back in 2013 told the story of Lara Croft's early days... The classic games featured a seasoned and confident adventurer..."
We envision a future of Tomb Raider in all its forms as unfolding beyond these established adventures, telling stories that build upon the breadth of both Core Design's and Crystal Dynamics' games and working to unify these timelines.
"With Tomb Raider's extensive history, this is no easy task! We ask everyone to be patient as we go through the development process."
Despite this, Kerslake went on to say that the team doesn't have a new game announcement to share in the near future, so unfortunately it might still be a while before we get more details about what to expect.

I kind of liked the stort not being bound to the history. As long as they don't lock themselves into a predetermined box I'm cool with it.
Though it feels like they'd already committed to the reboot, so why not accept the creative freedom that comes with it?
I really liked the newer games but by the 3rd it did feel like the formula was becoming somewhat stale. It sounds like they might go in a different direction with the next game which is fine by me.
Lol the next game starts with her getting a boob job then?
I'd love to see less of a focus on the narrative and more of a focus on open tomb raiding exploration. The new ones were very fun but I still prefer CD's older Legend/Anniversary/Underworld trilogy. Leave me in a huge tomb and let me work out what to do, for the whole game and not for short sequences.
Something like the new Hitman games but with Tombs and clues for finding things would be what I'd love to see.
