Been reading a few articles on this and apparently this time round it will be on playstation as well. With the first game they went to Microsoft to publish the game due to their PC connections but Crytek fully own the IP and do not need to use Microsoft as a publisher if they make a sequel.
What kind of games can I expect from this? I'm very particular when it comes to indies so if its mainly retro looking ones or 2D side a rollers then it's not for me. But if there's ones like the Gunk, Roki and the Beacon Pines then I may be interested.
I would like to see the Atelier games come to xbox, not for me personally as I've played them already, but so that the series gets more attention that it deserves.
I completed the ultimate edition last year and found it quite enjoyable, I would like to continue the series but I'm holding out for a Gears of war 2 and 3 ultimate editions so I get the best experience. Obviously 4 and 5 already have great visuals and upgrades, hopefully a Gears of war collection is on the way.
On PS5 i will be playing Hogwarts Legacy and Scars Above. Also been playing a lot of The Game of Life 2 with the misses so I might buy the DLC.
On switch I have finally completed Fire Emblem Engage and thought it was a much better game than Three Houses. I will now be concentrating on Metroid Prime Remastered and Harvestella until May 12th. And some Splatoon 3 doing the latest splatfest.
On xbox I have re subscribed to gamepass so I think I will give Atomic Heart a try.
It's only a timed exclusive so it will be coming to playstation 5 eventually and apparently even the Vita, so maybe then some playstation players can stop crapping on it.
Whilst I admit its not my type of game due to its retro design thats not a good enough reason to dismiss it as rubbish, there's a reason it's got a 95 on metacritic.
So well done to the team behind it, I bet they are well chuffed.
@eduscxbox But the studios and publishers they have acquired already had their games on xbox so that doesn't make sense. It would make sense if xbox were to buy a japanese Studio who's games don't come to xbox.
@Moonglow Well I hope you're right as I will be playing it on gamepass as I'm getting a backbone one for handheld play next month and I feel it will be a game I'd want to play in bed, so I'm holding off buying it on release.
@Tomato_Goose You mean like the star wars and gears of war 360 limited editions, that gen had a lot of limited editions even with the ps3 and with Nintendo with the 3ds. But there doesn't seem to be any these last few years especially with playstation and xbox, unless it's a one off console for a competition winner on twitter lol
Question is what happens to diablo 4 once the ABK deal goes through? Does diablo 4 go to gamepass as that will cause a riot with those who buy the game, especially if it's within 6 months of its release.
I know this won't effect me since I play square enix games on playstation but even I'm starting to see that square have a problem with Microsoft. And I know people will just say its sony but its the fact they make plenty of exclusives for both nintnedo and playstation and even bring out games to nintendo before playstation. So it's either they have had a falling out with Microsoft behind the scenes we don't know about or they have a problem with Microsoft being an American company and are trying to be loyal as possible to their own.
@Moonglow yeah they are entering uncharted water with GAAS, I'm kinda hyped and worried at the same time for the TLOU factions game which I think will just be the division but zombies added in the mix. But saying that they do have bunjie now who do have experience with GAAS and PC so hopefully they can help the best they can as that Nixxes Studio clearly aren't cut out for it.
@MoneySlot no worries, il openly admit I have a playstation bias since I've been gaming with them since the Ps1 came out and it's been my main console since but I do enjoy the xbox as well.
@MoneySlot @S1ayeR74 @Fenbops I don't know where you're getting I have only played 5 games and have zero achievements, are people that desperate to now make lies up about people on this site? How pathetic
My Psn and gamer tag are their for you to add me to see how many games I've played on playstation and xbox, and to @Fenbops I can guarantee that I've played more playstation games than you.
Xbox Gamer tag is GamerOtaku91#693, I won't have people make lies about me.
@MoneySlot I've played more than 5 games on xbox lol I completed more than 5 xbox games last year and my gamerscore is 20,164.
I prefer playstation and nintendo yes but I still game on xbox due to gamepass which I won't argue is great value, but I admit I absolutely do not like Phil Spencer or what Microsoft are doing by buying the biggest publishers knowing the competition can't compete with their spending.
@Bleachedsmiles I agree that sony do a lot of times exclusives as well, probably more so with bigger games (by name) but that's got to be down to lack of funds to actually compete with acquisitions. Sony know they can't compete with Microsoft when it comes to buying publishers, so instead they go for third party timed exclusives. Clearly its not illegal as its been done by Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo for years now with some huge titles involved such as final fantasy for playstation, monster hunter for nintendo and tomb raider for xbox. So I don't see why all of a sudden its illegal and needs to be investigated.
@Moonglow But out of those 280 games how many are actually paid to be playstation exclusive, I can't see Sony paying for games like atelier, disgaea, Senran kagura and all the other niche anime games that come to playstation (there's a lot!) especially in Japan where there tonnes more than don't even get localised in the west. Sony don't pay for those, the studios behind those games just don't put their games on xbox due to lack of demand, they have only just started putting games like YS and Atelier on nintendo because of the crazy switch sales. So it's unfair to say sony has a monopoly in Japan if its not their decision what console these games go to to begin with.
Yeah I'd argue they have paid square enix a lot of money for final fantasy games and to Konami for silent hill, but the other Japanese games are not being on xbox are down to the developers.
@Widey85 I fully agree with your point, let these companies make deals with xbox nintendo and playstation, but atleast clarify what those deals exactly mean. Like with monster hunter rise, I thought it was a nintendo exclusive but then all of a sudden its coming to xbox and playstation, if I knew that from the start I wouldn't of bothered getting the switch version as I'd rather have better performance etc.
So yeah it's fine for example playstation say to sqaure enix here's £30 million go make us final fantasy 7 remake, but be clear and tell people it's not coming to other consoles instead of leaving people guessing, I fully agree with that.
Can't wait for Stalker 2 and Ark 2 to come to playstation day one, oh wait....
Let's be real Nintendo have more Japanese exclusives than playstation does, and even if xbox had the same Japanese games as playstation and nintendo the market share would still be the same, as Japanese consumers are loyal to those home brands.
How about Xbox, Nintendo and Playstation just stop having any kind of exclusives at all from anyone other than their own studios, that will make it fair right?
Also Xbox are a bit hypocritical here as I'm pretty certain during the 360 gen they had quite a few Japanese exclusives that didn't come to the PlayStation 3 to try and gain popularity in Japan and failed, yet sony is doing the same and are successful, its like Microsoft are acting like a jealous brat over that fact.
@Razputinman Just ignore him, I haven't been playing xbox in a while myself but I still post in this topic what I'm playing every week across all three sites. There's absolutely nothing wrong with sharing what you are playing with fellow gamers who most of them also play on different devices.
On PS5 i will be playing Hogwarts Legacy, Atelier Ryza 3 and Octopath Traveler 2. I'm also tempted to downlaod Deep Rock Galactic as it looks quite interesting.
On Switch I will be focusing on completing Fire Emblem Engage as the story DLC is just a couple of weeks away.
@Sanquine God of war 2018 wouldn't of sold 23 million copies if it wasn't good, wouldn't of won game of the year if it wasn't good and its sequel Ragnarok wouldn't of sold 11 million copies in just under 4 months if it wasn't good, a feat no Microsoft made game has achieved. But there will always be haters.
@jordan1992 I'd just ignore him, he's the same on almost all articles, always taking sly digs at Sony who are obviously living rent free in his head, also most of his comments are hypocritical. Yet you're the fantatic and not them.
King alone brings in a tonne of money, enough money infact that they are why I don't believe Activision were really going bust. That coupled with the amount call of duty mobile and warzone were raking in? No chance.
@Sol4ris I actually didn't remember that one, now if that is true I wonder why Sony haven't done anything with that IP. Maybe Microsoft own the publishing's rights so Sony can't really do anything without Microsofts say so.
@Murray I'd expect bunjie games to still be on xbox as that was one of their requirements for Sony to buy them, to stay multiplatform. I'd expect that to be maintained as bunjie can be an handful, they already bought themselves out from Microsoft and Activision due to falling out with them.
Sony already had contracts in place for Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo, so excluding those what other new games have they put onto playstation? Leaving existing games on playstation doesn't count as expanding their footprint on playstation 😑
Its more about taking future games of existing franchises that's are on playstation now and making them xbox exclusive, that is what is meant by xbox taking games off playstation.
I can't think of an existing IP that playstation has taken away from xbox with one of its acquisitions, other than spiderman which was offered to playstation and rejected by Microsoft themselves. Sonys Biggest owned IP's have never been on an xbox console. Yet Microsofts biggest owned IP's after the Activision deal and Bethesda deal have been on playstation for decades. That's the difference people fail to see.
@cragis0001 I understand that but nintendo is the market leader for consoles in Japan by a long shot so surely should be taken into consideration. They even get the biggest multiplayer games on their console now with overwatch, fortnite, apex and rocket league etc
@ValentineMeikin surely that's compile hearts decision to not put their games on xbox, no way playstation or nintnedo is paying to keep much games from them from xbox.
That 98% is only between playstation and xbox console sales, she has not factored in Nintendo or PC.
And as this article has left it out, Microsoft has donated half a million dollars to this senator over the years, so take this statement with a pinch of salt.
@Tharsman 6 hours is a bit of a stretch.
