The quick teaser makes it look like they merged new Mombasa and the flashbacks from odst to give it that God of War like feel. Of course I'll miss the legendary mission feel of the old games but this seems like the natural progression. 343 has tried to do a seamless transition from Bungie and it didn't work. Let's see more of what 343 wants to do and less of what Bungie use to do.
If Microsoft really wants to come off as being in the best interest for gaming, then this is a must. Locking people out from playing with friends is no longer the norm. There is no way competition could spin this as a negative and solidifies Xbox as the go-to place to play with friends.
Taking risks is a must; throwing money at a problem is just silly. Signing such a costly deal with Shroud and Ninja wasn't going to change people's opinions on the service. It might have if Microsoft did it right when Mixer started but after 3 years the community already formed an opinion. Now there is a $40 million payout for no good reason.
This is one area I don't think Microsoft gets enough credit for. I know most people consider Microsoft Studios to produce the trinity of games they always do but they have really done well touching almost every genre the past couples years. Shooter, strategies, platforming; they've got a game for each one. They might not be as massive titles as Nintendo's or Sony's but I think it would be a shame if Microsoft moved away from doing a little something for everyone to doing a lot for one group of players.
I never understood this mentality. I get why companies push for exclusive games. Force consumers into their ecosystem. What I don't understand is the support of exclusives by the player base. Why do people brag that a company is forcing them to spend hundreds of dollars so they can spend more money on other products? What benefit do they gain from it? If Microsoft forced me to buy the series x for Halo then the only thing that I would get out of it is a couple hundred dollars poorer for a console I may or may not want right now. How did gamers get to a point that after forking over the money they feel like they have now joined some team... it's weird.
I feel like Spencer is treating the next Xbox line up more like TV's and less like phones. You buy a TV because of the price and the quality, not because of the content. Imagine going to shop for a TV and finding out that if you want to watch Netflix you'd need a Samsung, but the new Marvel movies only play on a LG. People would lose their minds.
I think that if anyone is going to lead the discussion for higher game prices, it shouldn't be 2K. If their games were consistently high quality then I might believe this but they've recently shown with WWE that they aren't a company that pushes the boundaries of gaming.
Add on the information that you have to buy the more expensive edition to get "smart delivery" and this all screams of greed. If companies like Ubisoft and CD Project Red can handle smart delivery then I don't have much sympathy for those that can't. Developers that want to be taken seriously might want to follow more of the latter two companies' strategies and less on imitating 2K's.
@Royalblues I have Game Pass Ultimate and my wife just does Game Pass on PC. The options from Xbox Studios are mostly the same as console but the third party games can be pretty different. Overall if you've enjoyed your subscription so far changing it to the PC won't be that different and I think you'll like it. You log into the app and it acts pretty similar as on the Xbox one.
@JON22 I think this will be more like when Microsoft "teamed" up with spotify when Groove was ended. It's a nice way of saying you have options but Microsoft isn't one of them anymore.
I think any competition is going to come down to price. Both consoles are close in specs. I didn't see anything that was a must have on day one. If the details coming from spiderman are true then that's pretty insulting, horizon 2 is going to take awhile to come out, and ratchet and crank isn't enough to warrant a 400-500 purchase. For those that are more into COD, Madden, and FIFA, it's still a toss up
I have a white and black tv stand so Sony must really like me. For the majority of those that don't it's kind of baffling. Keep it simple Sony... keep it simple.
@FraserG I picked the X but the original One is great as well. Only thing that hurts the X is it doesn't naturally support the Kinect. May not have been for everyone but having the choice to use it was always nice.
@Richnj I think it's also harder for them since it's mainly a European site. There are a lot of issues going on in the world so for Sony to focus on some and not others strikes these people as odd.
Like I wrote in a previous article I get Sony's decision. They want to have their celebration when they feel it's appropriate. I also get why people are disappointed. This is what they've been waiting months for. I think it's ok to support both parties.
I think Sony would have been safe to go ahead with the show. I can't see how people could tie their showcase with protests but I understand why they didn't want to take the chance. I also can't see them getting too much of a backlash for postponing. My guess is they'll wait a week or so and announce it for closer to the end of June. Any later and they'll be in direct competition with Microsoft's.
I'm excited for it. Should be nice to see what the team in blue has been holding up their sleeve. I'm in the minority in that I care more about the hardware than launch games so I'm interested more in how they are pushing the system more than anything else. Sony excels as single player games that are story driven so I think we're going to see some high quality graphics.
@Biohazardous379 Agreed. I've heard people describe Phil as arrogant but to me it seems like he's a man who has full faith in his department and his leadership. Everything I've heard from him sounds like he's more concerned with internal markers than beating the competition. I think he and Satya have a vision of how gaming is going to be in the future and that's really the only thing that concerns him.

Re: Talking Point: What Xbox Series X Limited Editions Are You Hoping For?
My first xbox 360 was the halo 4 edition and I have the halo 5 xbox one. I will be bummed if there isn't one for infinite.
On a side note I think the series x would look great as a creeper.
