Insomniac is the proof, they confirmed its like Lost Legacy and to that, $60, where’s that proof? Also regardless of price, its going to be of the highest quality, just like the first game.
You just made the point of 4 Sony exclusives and 3 without release dates but of the 4, all of them will release before by end of next year. But then talked about Halo (sequel), Forza (sequel), State of Decay (sequel), Fable (sequel). And at least 2 of those might not make a 2022 release.
I will be buying a PS5. I just hoped that i’d be buying a Series X before 2022 but there’s no value in that.
@KelticDevil you know for a fact that it’s not “DLC” for Spider-Man so stop with the ignorance. It’s a 15-20 hour experience like Uncharted Lost Legacy that will fully utilise the new features of the PS5 at launch (no price confirmed).
You’re right, no firm release dates for the others were provided, but Gran Turismo, Ratchet, Spiderman, Returnal, Sackboy, Kena, Oddworld, Ghostwire Tokyo, JETT, Godfall, Solar Ash, Astro’s Playroom, Bugsnax, Deathloop all had gameplay.
Xbox shown Halo, Ori, Outer Worlds DLC, Grounded, Psychonauts 2, Destiny Update, Tetris, The Gunk, The Medium, Phantasy Star, Crossfire X with gameplay.
The point I’m making is compare the two. Gameplay, whether short or extensive was much more prevalent in the PlayStation showcase, with granted only 2 confirmed launch games in Spidey & Astrobot.
So when Phil Spencer comes out and says he isn’t concerned as is A feeling confident after the PS5 showcase, people’s ears perk up. But then when people watch the showcase and see on the PlayStation side, the graphics and sdd capabilities being clearly presented to them, it presents value for purchase. But on the Xbox side, they are shown a good, just good, presentation for THE Xbox franchise in Halo, alongside a bunch of CG trailers for their other favourite games which are really far out. It presents them with some disappointment.
I’d delay the console. You only get one chance to launch a console and they need to release with a big hitter.
GamePass is exceptional value but you cannot possibly release a console in this climate without exclusive, system seller titles.
A solid 2021 launch with more games would be huge for Xbox. Plus even more value could be put on GP by then, including potential games like Avengers and Cyberpunk being available on the service.
@KelticDevil but PlayStation announce those games and still release their big hitter exclusives.
Microsoft shown multiple CG trailers for late 2021/2022 games, some maybe even 2023. Then they delayed Halo, their only big hitter for the next 6 months cause Gears and Forza aren’t ready.
“The Worlds Most Powerful Console” isn’t going to live up to the name for exclusives for maybe a year, two and beyond. Fable is HIGHLY anticipated, but leaks and rumours suggested it was much further along. Though to only be hiring for this role now on a game like this is extremely concerning.
Thats why people are complaining and critiquing Xbox
Wouldn’t surprise me if this includes the new Rocksteady game as a timed exclusive.
Nothing has changed from current and last gen. The two would try and get the best exclusives for their platform and to support their brands consumers.
Its no question that Sony took a significant player base this generation and they seem confident that those consumers will follow them to PS5, with the possibility of even more.
So investing in timed exclusives makes total sense to strengthen their portfolio.
Will be interesting to see how Xbox counter this, maybe with games released day and date on both platforms, being free under GamePass on Xbox rathe than the full price on PS5. That would be a huge get for Xbox with certain titles, though only time will tell.
It wasn’t convoluted in the slightest tbh. This all seems expected and reasonable to me and the fact the PS4 camera can be used with PS5 is great.
Funny how an article like this has appeared quite unnecessarily when many comment sections on the site seem to reference “PushSquare fanboys” frequently, for igniting console wars further and trying to throw shade at Xbox 🤔
@Z3u5000 You literally copied and pasted this over from your Warhammer post but added one sentence. It’s looks to me like you’re a little triggered by people having contrasting opinions. And continuing hate between the two sites rather than ignoring others.
It’s not just “pushsquare fanboys” that have criticised some of Xbox’s decisions, it’s also many in the industry who have covered Xbox for a number of years.
GamePass is undeniably incredible value for money but it’s not a system seller. But you talk about what was revealed as if it’s all coming out at launch. Fable, Avowed, Stalker 2, Forza and State of Decay are late 2021/2022 games, Halo is on everything and most of the other where consoles launch exclusive, which Phil Spencer hates right?
Gears 5, Ori and FH4 getting upgrades is great, but have people not already played those and want the next thing?
Again, GamePass is incredible value for money, but to hold a showcase for “the worlds most powerful console” to then show games that are not going to be released for two years, don’t look any better than games from the beginning of this current gen, or can be played on an older console through GamePass, it’s not great messaging.
Halo may have been an old build, but the game is maybe 3 months from going gold? And they choose to use an old build on the biggest stage with the world watching? Something isn’t right with that, especially when it’s Halo
@Z3u5000 don’t attempt to speak for me. I’m not even a fan of Gears but it doesn’t change the fact that it should have been present during the showcase. Whether you like it or not, Halo, Forza and Gears are the Xbox big three. This is your next generation presentation, they have to be shown off.
Though I would make an argument for not having shown Forza at all yesterday.
@KelticDevil I get what you‘re saying in regards to choice, but more development costs will be suffered through having scalable versions of the same game. If “companies make much more $ on software & services” then it makes no sense to me why they wouldn’t put their software and service on PlayStation consoles, or at least approach them. If they had approached i’m certain we would have known about it. For me, this doesn’t entice myself as a predominantly PlayStation gamer to buy a Series X. Instead i’d opt for a PC and get Game Pass that way. With this ideology I just don’t see sense in intense spending on hardware if the company and its leads seemingly don’t want you to actually purchase it. You called Spider-man and expansion pack which will cost $560-$570. Thats just an ignorant comment when the actuality is that its likely to be a solid 10-15 hour experience similar to Uncharted Lost Legacy which i’d argue is the best Uncharted. The price of the console will secure gamers this “expansion pack”, Horizon 2, Naughty Dog games, Ratchet, God of War etc in the highest possible quality at the fastest run rates. Why would I want to buy these games on a lesser console running at a lower quality when it is designed specifically for next gen. I don’t believe Xbox’s way forward is smart or beneficial to gamers imo. With a new console, I want new games and experiences that I haven’t had before. Not stuff I can just play on my older console in older quality. I don’t think we’ll agree on this but I do genuinely want Xbox to succeed. Vibrant player based and ecosystems drive the industry and force developers to make better products. I just don’t want Xbox putting barricades and limitations in front of their talent
“best launch lineup position that we’ve ever been on Xbox“
But this lineup can be played on an older system? What’s the point in upgrading if there is nothing exclusive to play on the new platform?
Potentially £500 to play games that can be played on an already purchased system? Doesn’t quite make sense for me. It’s like previous statements suggest Phil doesn’t even want people to upgrade to next gen
@Tharsman @Z3u5000 I completely agree and see both your points. I just feel like going into this generation Phil just seems to be stoking the fire a little from my perspective. The same way many PS Execs did going into and in some parts throughout the current generation.
And I’ll be upfront I am very much a more active member of the PushSquare side of the Family as a PlayStation centric gamer, but. I do respect the hell out of Phil and how he has carried Xbox from such a catastrophic launch. Tbh I think the console wars are pointless arguments regardless
I’m sure Phil was criticising PlayStation last week for going exclusive on PS5 and ‘cutting an entire generation out’, saying that Xbox won’t follow suit.
One minute he’s saying that we shouldn’t ignite the “console war” but then his next interview he’s throwing shots at the competition, igniting the fire himself 🤔

Surely they could have just delayed the game? Bringing other teams in this late could be problematic surely.
Maybe not, lets hope not!
Re: Some Xbox Fans Want To Boycott Marvel's Avengers Over Sony Deal
Remember a few days ago when very few even cared about this game.
Now all of a sudden everyone is interested because of a Spiderman exclusivity deal. Funny...

Why would you not show this at the Showcase a Event?
Microsoft are making strange moves I swear

That showcase was essentially ‘buy GamePass’ and wait two years then ‘buy Series X’.
D Grade and no higher for me
