Already a nice selection. Couple of heavy hitters and thought both Mixtape and South of Midnight looked interesting at the Showcase.
Expedition 33 stole the showcase for me.
That's a lot of stuff right there. Asides from the obvious big names I'm looking forward to Mixtape. I like those odd games, never would have known it's my jam if not for gamepass. South of Midnight looks fantastic as well and @FarmDog08 I agree that Expedition 33 looked really good and intriguing.
@Krzzystuff Yes! I was getting Lost Odyssey vibes from Expedition 33.
It's been 8 months since the acquisition of Activision Blizzard completed and we still haven't heard anything about those games being added to Game Pass. I can only assume now that Microsoft is waiting to add them around the same time a price-hike is announced.
@FarmDog08
Definitely the surprise of the show. My jaw dropped when I realized it was turn based (with action stuff, but yeah).
Reaaaally interested in that one, looked amazing. And it's coming to Game Pass too.
@Lup Totally agree. When I saw the command menu pop up I nearly screamed!
@101Force I was for sure we'd get them at the showcase. I have no idea what their delay is now.
Fantastic list already! And like many others have said Expedition 33 was not only surprise of the show but now my most anticipated game release.
For those that love Turn based RPG. I supported kick stater campaign for Penny Blood (from the makes of Shadowhearts). Still in development but another potentially great RPG if you are interested. There is also a Wild Arms spiritual successor called Armed Fantasia coming as well!
Side note: I believe Penny Blood and Armed Fantasia still looking for a publisher…Microsoft i am looking at you!!
Fantastic line-up. Can’t wait for South of Midnight, Fable, and Doom.
Already looking stacked
Doom The Dark Ages has got to be top spot for me, with Fable also looking very promising
That's some amount of games. Some big games there. Also looking forward to Mixtape as The Artful Escape was really good.
Doom Dark ages for me, but i know want to know if it will do any PS5 Pro enchantments. Cause if so i will get it there, if it is looking and running best. I think thats a big question will MS studios support the PS5 Pro? Or will they just cater to the base console and of course Series consoles. Time will tell but Doom in this setting looks great. South of Midnight will be a play for me as well and Fable if that makes it out in 2025.
Avowed in February? Nice.
We're giving this list a bump as four more games were added to it following the Xbox Partner Preview (October 2024) last night!

@101Force Why are you so focussed on 'old' games? The most recent ABK games - inc Diablo, Crash Bandicoot and Call of Duty games, are in Game Pass with their new game coming Day 1 for the first time in history - BO6. This also only focuses on 'NEW' releases you can play 'Day 1' on Game Pass - not some 5yr old+ game that hasn't been 'relevant' in gaming terms for years. By relevant, I mean barely (if any) sales, players time spent etc.
I'm sure that 'some' may come to Game Pass but with over 20 Call of Duty Games, would adding them dilute the 'newest' and/or be detrimental? Maybe they want everyone playing the latest to ensure matchmaking and ping are at their 'best'.
Anyway, this 'list' would be very unlikely to include ABK's 'old' games released prior to the MS takeover as it's focussed on brand new releases you can play Day 1 rather than what 'old' games maybe added...
2025 is looking incredible so far. Avowed, Doom The Dark Ages and Fable! Frankly, I'm just praying the latter won't be too much #shoehorned woke.
@Banjo-
Avowed, Doom and Fable are my three picks
for 2025.
And not forgetting my punt for Gear E in 2025 🤣
LOTS of games to look forward to there, over 10 I want to play already.
However I wonder if they will move Avowed again. It originally changed date to February to give it some breathing room. But now February 2025 looks even more stacked than its original launch date with Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassins Creed: Shadows, Yakuza: Pirates, Civilisation 7, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Lost Records, Tomb Raider IV-VI, and more. Will be interesting to see.
@OldGamer999 Ah, Gears of War E-Day looks like the reboot we all wanted, let them take their time!
That's a great looking 2025 to start hope there's a couple of surprises though the year too please Mr. Phil Spencer 💚💚💚🎮🎮🎮
@Banjo-
You know what I’m like with time and I wonder what these 300 strong development teams do with all the years that pass by.
Will be six years October 2025 since gears 5
Not including the great Hive Busters.
@themightyant
Not forgetting that massive game called GTA 6.
Then again I’ve never been a big fan.
GTA 5 was ok, but massively overrated, when you dig deep down.
@Banjo-
We must remember even though only DLC Hive Busters was released a year and month after Gears 5. And it was a dam good game Hive Busters.
So fours years for a full Gears game is definitely enough time.
Here I go again with me working from home has definitely slowed down game development, everyone seems to be so entitled at work nowadays 🤣🤣🤣
@OldGamer999 I don’t think GTA6 is February 2025 though, which was my point, all those games are. Though perhaps they don’t want to move again as they definitely don’t want to cross that juggernaut.
I kinda feel the same about GTAV, but it’s still a must play for me, there’s nothing quite like a Rockstar game to see what is possible with an almost unlimited budget and time. Even if like you I feel they are a bit overrated they are unmissable too.
@OldGamer999 Certainly, Microsoft doesn't crunch like Sony's Naughty Dog, but I partly agree, Microsoft should supervise their studios more.
You also remember that it has been reported many times that Rare, Id and The Coalition have been assisting the less capable studios and the amount of time and dedication that assisting entails is considerable, even more now with Unreal Engine 5. Some studios have been slowing down the others and some of them haven't even made anything I like, e.g., Compulsion Games. I can criticise several Xbox studios (I just did), but I would never criticise Id, The Coalition or Rare because not they just make objectively excellent games, but they also assist the other studios.
@Banjo-
Well I’m looking forward to these new games.
Stalker 2 previews were good so that should be a very good game.
Hope Indy nails it as well.
@themightyant
That’s me miss reading things. 🤣
Yes up to February looking good, hopefully all the games will be top notch.
@BAMozzy Why? I mostly play games with local co-op — it's the only reason I own a console specifically — which is a feature that is significantly more common in older titles, such as those that have yet to be added from the acquisition.
@101Force yeah - because older games were 'pre-internet' or at least when internet was awful and couch co-op is basically 'dead' today.
There is a reason that its not common today and that's because its not popular enough to justify the cost as so few actually play.
A Lot of 'old' games may not even be added to Game Pass at all or even considered trying to make them work via the Backwards Compatibility programme too as they may not have the Licence (Marvel games for example) or just not worth all the time/effort when the game probably won't sell Subscriptions or Games as people tend to put their money into 'newer' games (as in the past 5yrs or so).
There has to be enough incentive and of course legal (as in IP's they own, not licensed IP's like James Bond, Marvel etc) reasons for Microsoft too and if they don't think it will bring in enough revenue from 'new' Subscribers or even new 'purchasers' for those games, they have, they don't have incentive.
I don't expect to see many 360 games at all (other than CoD or Prototype maybe but then again they may not as they want you playing the 'new' CoD) and even less, if any, OG Xbox games. With quite a few Licensed IP games (not their own IP), being delisted due to them no longer having the license, then it makes things even more 'complicated' to bring back and likely would cost - so they won't do that if they won't get revenue coming in...
Hence a year later, we've had Diablo, Crash and Cod added but nothing 'pre-XB1' era games. Consoles - and even Games these days are designed for 'Internet' gaming - not just to patch, but to play with others, to offer more content and even enable games so big (Flight Sim - the whole world wouldn't fit on your 1, 2, 4 or even 8TB drive - let alone disc) they have to stream it. Without the internet, the Consoles and most games (if not all if you count the Patches/fixes they require at launch) are not playable. Even your Console is extremely limited in functionality.
Couch Co-op won't work with Streaming to a mobile for example so its likely to disappear. If you want to play together on the couch these days, you both have a phone for example or one can play on a PC/Tablet next to you...
@BAMozzy I understand the current market, but you asked why I am "so focussed on 'old' games" and I told you. I'll probably be moving to a PC running SteamOS or ChimeraOS since there are plenty of legacy games with local multiplayer and mods/virtual network solutions for many modern games too.
Revisiting this… and man I hope 2025 is finally the year for Silksong. Gamepass is stacked this year either way.
The size of this list is ridiculously large. Best value in gaming, period.
Kind of a weak year on paper. But I’m sure it’ll change. I’m mostly here for cool indie stuff, and there seems to be less and less of that.
@FraserG I think you've doubled up on 1 game. Ghost bike was renamed to wheel world if I remember correctly. Apologies if I'm wrong
@jesse_dylan just wondering what would be strong year? Elden ring nightrein, GTA 6 and Monstet hunter wilds day 1?
if you are for indies - most of them cost between $15-30 so you can just buy them, and also these companies really need your support thru the sale of copies.
@Kaloudz 0.1% of enthusiasts who spend hundreds of dollars every month are the most active on websites like this one and asking "why xbox" where most people buy games on sales, or pay for subs while payng maybe for 2-3 full price games per year.
Literally a friend on PS is thiking if he should get Ninja gaiden 2 and watching youtube while I am on chapter 4 already via GP that I made money back last year so its literally free for me.
bottom line - these people are out of touch. Even at $20/m pretty much everyone can afford (we have video subs that are more expensive) whereas dropping $50-70 for one game that you might not like is a luxury for many
@Millionski people usually think a strong year means games they like. So a strong year for me might be a dud for other people. Or maybe a strong year is variety. It seems like they’re really leaning into CoD and stuff now, where as it used to be a lot more variety.
I ain’t got the money to be dropping on games at all, which is why I’m on Xbox. Besides game pass, I get about $10-20 per month on Xbox rewards, which I save up and spend on sale stuff (and occasionally new indies)
@Millionski Could not agree more with you if I tried. You hit the nail on the head. It's value for money at its finest. I mean, I get to play Eternal Strands AND Sniper Elite, two day one games, that I probably wouldn't have purchased at full price (due to the expense) on Game Pass, and that's just two games, two days apart. That's not to mention the heaps of games already confirmed for 2025 - starting with Avowed in a few weeks.
Replaced is now 2026 unfortunately
It's just outstanding. I'm excited for the big hits we have coming, but even just as excited for the Summer Showcase.
@Kaloudz can’t wait for gears collection on my ps5 😎 nothing else interests me on Xbox.
@Residentsteven Cool. You'll enjoy it! Xbox games are pretty freakin' awesome no matter where you play.
Mixtape looks interesting.
@Residentsteven, enjoy your endless third person walking sims, COD and FIFA.
