Did they add a boot-up splash screen asking reviewers to not judge the game based on how it was when it was released?
Still amused at the dev’s comments on that.
That's a loooot of fixes.
Does these fix all the major reported game breakers?
Would like to get to it if so, can wait if not.
Patch is live on steam & about 13 Gb from what I understand. EDIT: Xbox update available 12.69 Gb
Some good stuff in there including an adjustment to controller deadzones which a lot of folks had issues with on the xbox side & i hope it helps.
Just as a reminder while there are ai fixes this isn't the A-life patch, which is still being worked on.
That's quite a list before you even notice the sidenote about a further 300-odd unlisted. It's good that they're fixing it, but this must have been a trainwreck on release.
@GeeForce From what i can see in the notes they have fixed the main story blocks folks were complaining about & a whole bunch of other side quest stuff too in addition.
Thanks @RiverGenie
@uberdaddypig it depends on who you ask.
I finished my first playthrough on series x with a main story block that i managed to eventually work around & 2 crashes in total. In addition I had some texture flickering & funky (often funny) npc interactions but non of that stopped me playing
Other folks have reported double digit crashes just doing the intro quest (on pc though).
The HDR on this game is terrible so I’d of thought they’d of done something about that in this update. They really need to add a picture/scene from in-game in the HDR settings so we can see the calibration. I’ve turned HDR off in Xbox settings and the game looks so much better, on default with HDR on it looks oversaturated during the day and way too dark when it’s night in-game.
@MaccaMUFC 100%, we need an image to set HDR soooo bad it’s not even funny. Even for SDR. Going in and out of the menu everytime to check the results is ridiculous.
Looks like enemies are still going to be damage sponges. They also need to fix stealth or they need to allow mods asap so other people can fix it for tgem
The latest Baldurs Gate patch is over a 1,000 bug fixes and that's after 7 full on patches before that over the past year, just to put it into perspective for the doom and gloomers
25+ hours in on PC and Series X and still only had one minor bug 😎
Would be nice if not every single news source for stalker 2 listed it as "out" for Xbox. Since it's nowhere to be found. Unless they mean people who bought it and not the gamelass users. Which I'm not sure if that's a thing. Either way I was able to play all 3 metros before they released this patch. So I hope it's soon.
Saw it dropped on PC. Nothing on my Xbox yet.
Edit: Just restarted my Xbox and got it.
@uberdaddypig If you're not familiar with game development. Sure. It is quite common for hundreds of fixes to be shadow dropped without even so much as a note. BG3 has thousands of bugs fixed in a single patch for example.
@Chaotic_Goat What seems to be the issues with stealth? When taking into account things like light, sound, and smell, as the game tells you on the loading screens, I've been clearing camps without so much a single alarm.
@dskatter Are you referring to the unrelated person from Arkane that said that?
Nice, another 100 patches and 12 - 18 months time and I might think about reinstalling 😂
This game really should have been delayed again there is / was so much broken. So many people have said they've un-installed which is not something the devs want to see at all especially when your game is on gamepass where everyone moves on to the next big release within a matter of weeks, Indiana Jones being the next big game.
This is awesome news. I’ve been waiting for this patch, and since I’m new to Stalker, I’ve been hearing about A-Live 2.0, and after doing research I found that it is a really cool feature in these games. I’ll definitely be playing this once I finish up Space Marine 2.
The patch is still not on xbox yet
Anyone know if its likely to drop anytime soon or as its this close to the weekend are we looking at nxt week
Looks like it is out now on my Series X.
Just downloaded it. 12.69GB.
@Lucylu1983 @Reallynow33
Looks like it is out now. I downloaded it a couple minutes ago.
@oopsiezz
I can't agree. 30 hours in and biggest bug I ran into was someone getting stuck in a door.
Player numbers also indicate the population is healthy, especially for a single player game. So the anecdote of seeing people saying they're uninstalling doesn't carry much weight. Especially when you see such comments about the biggest releases all the time.
@InterceptorAlpha thank you I knew as soon as I mentioned it it will become available 🤣🤣
@InterceptorAlpha a lot of the issues do seem more pc centric than xbox.
That's not to say xbox is perfect & as i mentioned above i ran into some bugs but nothing that derailed my play through.
Even the two crashes i did have lost me maybe 10 minutes of progress out of what was about a 76 hour first run through the game.
I can live with that & I had a ton of fun along the way, which is the most important bit.
@Kraven A Life 2.0 is currently completely broken in the game (surprising I know)
Theres an excellent explanation of the current system in place on the Stalker subreddit. The gist of it is that currently A Life 2.0 is experiencing issues that roll over onto other issues with the system bringing the whole thing down. The current system only spawns npcs in on a rather small radius around the player as well causing npcs to simply disappear when they are outside that radius instead of dynamically populating the world and taking over parts of the map for their faction etc like seen in the previous Stalker game.
Abandoned point of interests are really abandoned until the player visits it, where as in the previous game that site would likely be taken over by some kind of npc faction well before you showed up which lead to fights over territory between the different factions as well.
Lol...
Loaded up my save and almost instantly hit softlock on my game requiring me to reload my save not once, not twice but three times before the bug would stop repeating. All I did was try to bring up my pda to look at the map after accepting a side quest and my screen went black but I could still move around and shoot, just couldn't see anything.
Fix 300 bugs, introduce new ones i guess.
Edit: Now npcs in my game are randomly dieing whenever they try walking through a doorway in Zalissya. Lmao this update needed more time to cook just like the game.
I played about 8 hours before this patch and didn't experience any bugs...only issue I've had is stealth outdoors ....enemies see you know matter what basically
I only had the 1 bug, couldn't switch from my knife without opening the weapon wheel and the patch fixed it.
Game is so fun, especially on veteran.
41 deaths and counting!
A new update was released today.
Unfortunately I am still experiencing the black screen bug sometimes when I open my pda. npcs in Zalissya are still dropping dead in the same door way. Looks like it was mostly to fix some quest progression issues this time.
Oh well time to move the game back onto my external drive and wait for this buggy mess to finally be fixed.
This was real rough on day one. Played it for a few hours and quit, uninstalled and moved on. Perhaps I will try again one day.
Beta testing this for PlayStation players who get it in a few months.
