Back at the start of the week, Capcom revealed its plans for the first Dragon's Dogma 2 update on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with other platforms), and it's finally now live for PS5 and PC...but not Xbox!
Instead, the Xbox version of this title update will be rolling out over the next few days. In the meantime, Capcom has re-confirmed the patch notes that were first shared at the beginning of the week, which don't appear to have changed.
There are some big new features in here as well, including the ability to "start a new game when save data already exists", turn off ray-tracing and set the frame rate to a max of 30FPS. Capcom says it will continue working on performance improvements that will be delivered in "future updates" as well.
Without further ado, here are the patch notes for Dragon's Dogma 2's first Xbox update, rolling out soon!
Xbox / Steam
- Adding the option to start a new game when save data already exists.
- Changing the number of "Art of Metamorphosis" items available at Pawn Guilds in the game to 99.
- Making the quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (where they can save and rest) available earlier in the game.
- Miscellaneous text display issues.
- Miscellaneous bug fixes.
Xbox
- Adding the option* to switch Motion Blur on/off in Options.
- Adding the option* to switch Ray Tracing on/off in Options.
- Adding the option to set Frame Rate at Max 30fps in Options.
Steam
- Improving quality when DLSS SUPER RESOLUTION is enabled.
- Fixing an issue related to the display of models under some specific settings.
*These options won't affect frame rate significantly. Improvements to frame rate are planned for future updates.
Updates to Xbox Series X|S are planned in the next few days.

I wonder what knocking off ray tracing will do when on un-capped frame rate mode.
@northernmonkey75 Probably take you from an average ~40fps to an average ~42 fps.
I understand that this is Capcom's first foray in open world game with the RE engine, but this doesn't give anyone a great first impression.
And with talks of RE9 going open world, this game doesn't instill confidence it will be any good.
I hope the 30fps cap is at least smooth for those interested in this title.
I am really starting to hate the game industry - especially the "release now, patch later" mentality.
Nintendo are one of the few developers out there who don't rely on "Day 1 Patches". Its games are the only games I have confidence that, when I insert a cartridge into the Switch, I won't be greeted with a lengthy download before I can play.
@GamingFan4Lyf even though I agree with most of your statements, Resident's Evil team does great job optimizing and polishing their games. Hope, next RE will not break this tradition, even if settled in an open world.
@Tomato_Goose I hope it's not true that it's open world. In my opinion, it kind of "breaks" the tension of Resident Evil.
The biggest strength of Resident Evil is feeling constrained and having no choice but to fight your way out of a situation. I feel like going open world would ruin that.
This is my new favorite game. Regardless of some of the technical shortcomings(that I'm sure they'll iron out), I haven't been this excited to play a game in decades.
@northernmonkey75 Capcom said framerate would improve, but not greatly. They have direct plans for improving optimization in the future.
can't wait to play this in a year or two when it's properly fixed and 20 quid
starting Elden Ring and Cyberpunk next, I'm quite a ways behind!!
I’ll wait for the inevitable definitive edition that adds a better storyline, includes dlc, and is fixed. Sick of buying stuff twice.
This patch is live for PS5 & PC…. but not Xbox
It wasn’t much of a patch in the end, less than 1GB. When I saw it was going I feared a Baldur’s Gate 3-style mega-download.
To be honest, I’m having such fun with it that I really haven’t noticed any performance issues, certainly nothing that would come even remotely close to spoiling my enjoyment.
This patch came out yesterday on Xbox. It does seem to make a difference to turn of ray tracing. FPS seems better in towns in particular.
