Ahead of its rollout across all platforms, Capcom has detailed the team's first update for Dragon's Dogma 2 - and the patch is set to address a major community concern regarding console performance.
Basically, the team is going to add an optional 30FPS frame rate cap on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, allowing users to opt for a more stable performance option. Capcom says that this won't alter the game's overall performance level and that more optimisations on that front will arrive in future patches.

As you can see in the image above, other console changes are also coming - including the ability to turn off both ray tracing and motion blur in the game's menus. Making these tweaks could also alter performance, but it's best to keep expectations in check until more patches arrive.
For now we don't have a specific timeline on this first Dragon's Dogma 2 update other than "in the near future", but Capcom says that the patch will release "as soon as it's ready for distribution" on all platforms.
Will you be applying that frame rate cap on Xbox? Tell us what you think of this first patch down below.

Capped at 30 is not the same as locked at 30. Just pointing that out.
Will be very interesting to see the performance increase from disabling ray tracing. That coupled with the frame rate cap could make for a stable 30.

I love everyone who wants an open world Capcom game to run well on an engine not designed for open world games
@ZuneTattooGuy it's a lame excuse for poor optimization, mate. If someone makes an open-world game, the first step is to choose the right tools or properly modify the existing ones.

There is zero reason that this game should struggle with a 30 fps or even 60. None of its assets are crazy detailed or complex. This is just another example of a lazy developer pooping out another $70 game on an engine that wasn't made or optimized for the project. And early adopters have to wait years for them patch it to an acceptable quality
They also need to fix the checkerboarding on Xbox. Digital Foundry said it was causing the image issues. Are they not fixing that as well?
BTW, I’m having an absolute blast with the game. Outside of cities, the framerate with VRR is smooth and not an issue for me. Does have drops in the cities though.
I have yet to notice the framerate issue personally. Not sure if it is my tv or perception but the game has been fine for me. My tv doesn’t like it when like 4 spells are going off at night though.
Turning RT off won't do much for FPS as the limitations are linked to the npcs - around a 1000 of them simultaneously simulated at a time. The RT on this game also looks really good. They need to optimise that. Have the option to turn of motion blur or cap the framerate at 30fps are good quality of life improvements though.
Should have been like that from the start with the cap. Framerate changes will be much less bothersome this way.
I might of consider getting the game but since they threw in micro transactions and didn't include fast travel I personally don't see any reason.
