Halo: The Master Chief Collection has ended up getting an almost 10-year update cycle after its rough launch back in 2014, and a new developer message is hinting that work on the game might finally be wrapping up in 2023.
Doing the rounds on social media is a 'thank you' message posted by some of the folks who've worked on Halo: MCC over the years. The message reads "Finished the fight, Halo: The Master Chief Collection, 11/2014 - 07/2023", with an additional accompanying statement:
"Your dedication, teamwork, and commitment to excellence have not gone unnoticed. Together, we have achieved a significant milestone, and it's all thanks to your hard work and determination."
As you can see by the reactions here, this is starting to fuel speculation that it might finally be the end of the road for Master Chief Collection updates. The project's last big update landed back in July - matching up with the 'end date' of this developer thank you card.
As of yet, 343 Industries hasn't come out with any sort of formal statement on The Master Chief Collection or its future, but you'd think that at some stage, development has to wrap up on this mammoth project. Halo Infinite is now really hitting its stride too, so focusing more on 343's latest Halo release could well be the plan moving forward.
Anyway, we'll be sure to provide an update on this if we get an official announcement on the end of the road for Halo: MCC. In the meantime, it's probably best not to expect further updates for Xbox's long-in-development Halo collection.
