Halo Infinite has been on the up-and-up over its last few multiplayer seasons, but in a recent interview with outlet Kinda Funny, the team explained that this content surge won't carry over to campaign anytime soon.
During a wide-ranging chat on the Xcast podcast, 343's Brian Jarrad talked about the team's ongoing plans for Halo Infinite. While lots of content is still in the pipeline for multiplayer — as evidenced by the team's recent Firefight launch — the team says that "nothing is in active development" for the game's campaign:
"I'll be honest, we have nothing to announce today regarding any campaign content for Infinite. I'll even go a step further and tell you that right now there's nothing in active development on that front."
That's not to say that something wasn't in the works at some stage. Again, we don't have any information here or anything, but Jarrad says 343 made the call about a year ago to purely focus on Halo Infinite multiplayer DLC.
"We made the decision just over a year ago, to really double-down on improving the multiplayer product."
If you're interested in the team's plans for Halo Infinite and beyond - the full interview is well worth a watch. Alternatively, a Reddit user has dropped a lovely overview of all the major points that were covered over on the Halo subreddit. The future looks bright for Halo, and indeed Infinite - but we might be waiting a while for more singe-player goodness from the franchise!

Hopefully with enough tooling around Forge players will make their own campaign levels. People are already doing it we just the game types and UI so it doesn’t look like it’s in multiplayer.
There were some interesting admissions in the interview. I think Ske7ch was really open and honest. Especially about the Mark V shop inclusion.
I've still not finished the campaign only one I've never completed didn't enjoy it as much as the older games.
@Rangers420 as I’m certain you already know….you aren’t missing much
Don't worry, playing the game wasn't developing for me anyways. I've stopped playing games that only focus on the multiplayer element. I already know the lack of support the game is going to get. Not everyone likes to play in a PVP environment.
You'd assume some kind of single player Halo is in development, but maybe it's the next game on Unreal 5, probably still in the early stages?
If it's not, then it's kind of a let down as while multiplayer Halo is fun, the campaigns are usually meant to be the epic experiences you get an Xbox for - particularly with the TV show to tie in with at the moment.
I actually enjoyed the Infinite campaign, although I'll admit it wasn't quite as tight as some of the older ones
so, i don’t have plans to play the multiplayer. so they can start working on halo: infinite and beyond
I might be in the minority but I loved halo infinite single player campaign I thought it was mostly great other than a few bugs here and there it is one of my favourite xbox exclusives for a long time
It was alright. But almost none of it was memorable compared to previous entries where I can remember moment from over a decade ago. The right decision is to move onto a new game for single player.
This is fine to me… as long as a new Halo game is being worked on. I assume there is since they announced they’d be switching to Unreal Engine 5 back in January or so.
@Dan1283 I’m with you on this. It’s not my favorite Halo, but I do think it plays better than any other. I had a great time with it.
Fix your freaking matchmaking then.
@Odium ye definitely I loved it I hated 5 so it was a return to form
well i don't do the multiplayer.
I finished the campaign 100% and apart from some obvious flaws, found the fps and grappling hook game play brilliant for me.
There was such potential for campaign dlc and was almost a forgone conclusion.
I think at this point now it needs a God of War style reboot built for series consoles with a new campaign.
Halo deserves to be back on top and giving us xboxers the Halo campaign joy we all want.
The singleplayer was great but I think it is the right call to focus solely on multiplayer for the rest of Infinite's life cycle (oxymoron). The multiplayer is incredible. 343 has my full support as the Halo dev going forward.
Halo needs a new home. 343 was the worst thing to happen to the franchise.
@Rangers420 Whats wild to me, is what I've played, I enjoy the campaign waaaay better than 4, and a lot more so than 5.
Something about it being open word though...just kinda turns me off of finishing it.
@OldGamer999 100% agree with your halo post. its 11/10
lucky for me im playing all campaigns on the master chief collection with my nephew. he is 8 and finds this sooooo amazing.... and a tiny bit scary(flood)
Genuinely gutted about no single player dlc. I was really looking forward to it!
@rustyduck
I did the master chief collection a good while ago.
I’ve currently gone a bit retro with gears of war 4
As I got a new tv and it still looks good.
@InterceptorAlpha Same something about it being open world just felt off for a Halo game it's definitely better than Halo 5 though.
@Rangers420 For sure. And we just don't talk about how godawful4 was. 😂
343 needs to be shut down in the worst possible way
Finished the Campaign and everything possible in that campaign - enjoyed it overall, a solid 7.5, and have never been interested in the 'Multi-player' Aspect and likely, never will.
I bought into Microsoft Xbox on the Strength of what Halo: Combat Evolved would bring to Console as a fantastic Campaign - with a 'bolt on arcade MP to take advantage of Xbox Gold. When Halo 2 came out, it had a much bigger 'Gold' base and the MP 'took off' but the Campaign was still 'priority'...
But MP is where they can 'milk' the IP and fanbase with seasonal Battle Passes, extortionate 'cosmetic' bundles (a Skin bundle can cost more than many games cost) etc so the campaigns are somewhat being 'neglected' to cater to the repeated 'money' generator of Live Service over single player 'meaningful' campaigns.
@Dan1283 5 was easily my least favorite Halo game. I hated that they completely undermined Cortana’s story in 4 (not that I loved 4 either). By the end of it, I was just happy it was done.
@Savage_Joe Id are the masters of the fps shooter genre them and valve so it would be no doubt an amazing game
@Savage_Joe idk… While Doom campaigns have been interesting. ID has struggled on the multiplayer side… Halo multiplayer is just as important as it campaigns.
@OldGamer999
Agreed, I quite enjoyed the campaign. And felt they left it perfectly for continuing the campaign.
I would've liked to have seen more campaign elements like traditional Halo campaigns though. They could've used the geography more to make more traditional campaign elements. They also should've used things like atmosphere storms to limit what you could do once you get the flying vehicles. Once I got flying vehicles I pretty much was able to rout the campaign.
Considering how much more multiplayer is played than campaign, it made sense that the team focused on the multiplayer. That’s Halo’s bread and butter. I keep hearing how the game is in a much better state by Halo fans so it seems like they made the right call. They can still get to more single player in time, but to keep players engaged, putting multiplayer as priority was best for the game.
No ***** given. Firefight is awesome.
That's alright. I uninstalled Halo Infinite nearly two years ago. No more single player content and with such a barebones and empty campaign, there's no reason to go back and replay it like I did all of the other entries in the series. Even Halo 5 and Reach, awful as they were, at least get a revisit from time to time.
@BrilliantBill I couldn’t agree more
Id just be happy if they fixed the major, major texture bugs in the campaign so I can play the damn thing again. But of course 343 has no interest in actually improving their product
It's because Microsoft ostensibly put contractor studios (2nd-parties) to work on 1P "content" for the Halo franchise. 343 was tasked with the MP. I wouldn't be surprised their Xbox repertoire received a new Halo spin-off title for campaign gameplay.
I figured it was supposed to have single player DLC. The campaign story felt incomplete, it just ends on an underwhelming, unsatisfying cliffhanger.
They just need to update forge so it supports the community creating campaigns, if it doesn't already.
