@sorethumbed: I never even got that far. Downloaded the nexus mod manager thing and it kept popping up errors so I got irritated and just left it... A shame as I've seen lots of great skyrim and new Vegas mods. Will prob give it another go at some point.

When I used to mod for Oblivion, I used to have everything in the oblivion directory and it all worked. Steam puts the stuff in its own directories so it won't work unless you add "path" statements like in old DOS. Just try moving NMM into the skyrim directory and telling steam that's where it is

Just watched the launch trailer - the business! Also features something I'll happily follow round the wasteland.

I mentioned pre-ordering to the Wife and I got the (standard just before Christmas or Birthday) response..."why don't you wait".

Mine has shipped, maybe I'll get something s.p.e.c.i.a.l. in the post on Monday.

So, I finally got started on this. LOL it's got a bit more complicated, took me AGES to figure out how to scrap/build stuff. The wasteland has got a lot more dangerous too, had my a.s handed to me a couple of times already. Really good fun though. It's gonna sink a lotta lotta hours.

My Wife had a delivery from Amazon yesterday in a very 'Xbox One game shaped box', which she spirited away from sight rather quickly. I'm hoping that is my copy of Fallout 4 for Xmas.

@sorethumbed: Having said I was going to wait I picked this up cheap using my clubcard points and sank a good few hours into it last night... thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the transition from the present to the future. Being handed some power armour so soon into the game complete with minigun was awesome although I doubt I'll be able to keep running it for long. Was impressed with Codsworth actually speaking my name too - very cool little touch.

Totally agree about it getting more complicated though - there is a bewildering array of systems to get the hang of with not much in the way of a tutorial, even the pip boy seems more convoluted! The deathclaw did make mincemeat out of me during our first encounter too

Anyone know where I can find some concrete (to build a well)? I thought tagging it would lead me to some on the map but no such luck...

@stylon: It's everywhere. Go to the workbench, activate it, back away and go to a ruined building and scrap it. Voila. Also, you will find the odd breeze block lying around, same. You can also scrap trees for wood, just about anything really for metal. Clothes, armor, drop near the general workbench (somehow some of them aren't scrap able at the armor workbench) and as long as the workbench is activated, choose scrap. Also, if you build a box to store stuff in, when you try to build something that has missing resources, choose the search option, go back to your box and anything that has it has an icon next to it. It was difficult at first but I've got the hang of it now. Modding weapons/armor really boosts your survivability. For deathclaws a couple of points in luck helps with critical chance. I found he went down quite easily (lucky I guess).

@sorethumbed: thanks that was really helpful - I've been wandering around like a plonker looking for some lumps of concrete to no avail - had no idea you could scrap an entire building to reclaim materials!

At last! Something really useful to help me with my compulsion to tidy up the wasteland 😄😄😄 Building communities is a whole new mini game in itself. I've wasted hours today just building stuff, modding stuff.

Same here, not done any missions tonight at all, just been repairing fences, clearing tree stumps, abandoned cars and messing about with electrickery.

Had a terrible first impression of Fallout. Apparently missed a gun at the start because I'm not hyperobservant I guess. Died over and over at the first raider enemies and got frustrated and gave up. Also, and maybe it's just cause I've been playing super high def Halo, but the character models look like plastic

@A_BabyRed_Yoshi: Yeah the graphics are more functional than amazing but it's still a decent step up from 3... as for the gun if it's the wind-up laser rifle it's on the floor outside the museum - it is a little hard to spot. If it's the minigun you missed then you need to go to specsavers! lol

I love how this thread went from "Are we excited?" to "Oh my God, I can't stop tidying up!" so quickly. Due to my (STILL) ongoing health issues, I've only played a bit so far but this is pretty much all that I have been doing! It's like an OCD dream to walk around and pick up all the mess! And I totally agree about the wasteland getting tougher. I love what they have done with the enemies that I've encountered so far... (No spoilers)
