Re: Elite Dangerous Coming to Xbox One This Summer

Wow, the original was the first game that I played on a 'console' the original BBC Micro. I will buy this, if for no other reason than every time I play it, I will remember the hours that I sank into the original. A definite MUST BUY for me. Very happy gamer indeed πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

l will be pushing to finish Kandy Krush Kreed (otherwise known as AC Unity). Having bought it when it came out, I feel compelled to finish it. Can't help feeling though that it would have been a much better game if they'd spent less time figuring out how to separate players from their cash and more time on game content creation and Quality Control. Rarely has a computer game made me angry, this one does. Putting FTP pricing models into a premium priced game is just wrong.

@Anthinator, it is a standalone game. Knowing the back story is helpful but not necessary (even on one back reading is good, they don't explain too much - it's a game for grown ups, don't expect too much in game help). There is a little watchable cartoon type thing on xbox at the moment that explains the back story (least there was yesterday). The controls will drive you nuts to begin with but it is a good game. Exploration and chemistry are it he keys to the game.

@tylerTreese, I've just jumped over and read that article and a lot of what the guy says is true (on one level) and just as equally, a lot of what he says is false (on another).
What it comes down to is time, if you don't have it, don't get into a time sink. I'm lucky, I've got lots of time and sank 200+'into inquisition and will probably sink another 100 if they bring out some dlc. It's about immersion and it's an immersive game. I'm one of those who likes to get lost in a game, I like far cry, I like Assassins creed (though I worry where Ubi is going at the moment), I like bethesda games and bioware games, love mmorpgs. I also enjoy no brainers. Neither is a 'wrong' point of view and about what you enjoy. I think that you might have enjoyed Da inquisition but if you don't have the time, what little you have would have been wasted. As to reward, for me, the reward is the time I spent in there. I remember playing Oblivion where I had every possible achievement, weapon, Armor, ring, Max money and still carried on playing, why fff there was no possible worthwhile reward other than the reward I got from spending time in the environment.

I forgot Destiny as well. It wasn't as good as the hype but it WAS stupidly addictive. I still need to do the raids at some time but as I play UK daytime (or very late at night UK time) I don't seem to have enough people on my friends list on.

Must admit though, this has been a pretty good year. Lots still to finish in my cupboard, Unity (waiting till its fixed), Wolfenstein, shadow of Mordor and Ryse to complete. Just working my way through FC4 at the mo.

@stylon both of their offerings are a bit stale this time around, I think. I've given up on Unity till its fixed and I am enjoying FC4 but there is absolutely nothing new there other than the location. In fact, there is a lot to be said for the opinion that far cry and ac are similar franchises with different weaponry. Way too much filler, short on story, each game trotted out covers the same arc but in a different place. Much as I hate to say it, I'm passing next time around.

By fluff, I mean filler (loads of the same thing over and over), save outpost, hostage rescues, collectibles. Padding, things they put in to make it feel like a massive game. Forget AC style 100 flags, there are posters to pull down, diaries to collect, masks to collect, letters to collect. Some of the above are challenging to find, most are just fluff. It really is FC3 in a different location. I'm enjoying the look but it feels tired.

I'm not sure whether or not I like this game. It's massive, but filled with fluff. If you strip out the collectibles and fluff, there's not a lot of game left. It is, however, very pretty. I think for FC5, if indeed there is a FC5, they need to put a bit of effort into something other than the world space.
