@JGRockford I mean Xbox One X sales went up 750% following Series X pre orders, you can even google it and see for yourself.
Its not confusing for you or me, but for the general, not to focused customer/consumer it may be. Plus the guy isn’t English so maybe its more difficult for him idk 🤷🏻♂️
Can’t wait for people to just get over it and move past his comments tbh.
@lokozar now that my friend, is the dialogue I kinda wish you had used in your first two responses.
I find that people in the video game industry, especially forward facing ones, are more prone to give their opinions when they do have a passionate case they want to put forward, which Fares has done. Obviously one we sit on opposite sides of the fence with.
As for real life with real people, I see your point. I too like to think before I speak on certain topics, do I feel this was one he needed to do so with? Not really, but hey that’s why we’re here right?
I feel like the biggest issue with modern society whether it’s in politics, daily lives or simply on a gaming site like this, too many are unwilling to engage in a conversation with somebody they don’t agree with. And too often that results in things escalating to the point it has as you’ve eluded to.
I don’t blame anyone in this situation tbh. Controversy/outrage can be interpreted differently amongst different people.
Journalists will provoke those in higher positions to stir controversy or conversation in a certain way. Always have and always will, you see it everyday. It’s just about how we perceive the answers/opinions given and what we do with that information. So scratch above, I guess I actually blame the interviewer. Though you obviously blame Faras. And that’s clear now from both of us.
The guy isn’t going to apologise, and I don’t believe he should. People will play his games regardless, especially considering they’ll likely be on GP anyway.
@LtSarge you’re completely right. It’s like whenever EA do something good, people immediately jump to critique them further.
Ubisoft get a Star Wars gig, and everyone immediately jumps to criticise them. Despite the fact that this could potentially be and incredible partnership but instead it’s “HeRe CoMeS cLiMbInG At-At’S tO eAgLe ViSiOn ThE mAp WiTh IcOnS aNd TaSkS”. Get a grip. 😂
@lokozar I’ve read into it as far as you’ve brought the conversation. By your own words you’ve suggested that he, a developer or person with maybe some clout in the industry, essentially should only provide opinions when it suits.
Yes you have stated it’s YOUR OPINION (read your comment and laughed cause of the meme tbh), so why when I question you on your opinion, you don’t like it when I’m making sense. It’s almost like you should have just kept quiet should this have ate “up a lot more time than I originally planned to invest”.
Fact is, the guy had an opinion which he was asked for, that you see as biased. But, are most opinions not objectively biased made by anyone? Was the question asked of him not looking for a biased answer? I prefer Apples to Pears, maybe because I eat Apples more, but can I not state I prefer Apples and describe why Pears are inferior? Or would I be told to keep my mouth shut, or would you agree and allow it?
Honestly if you don’t want to engage in a dialogue about a topic and possibly come to a serviceable middle ground, whats the point? Are these sections not for engaged dialogue?
Maybe that’s why I prefer PushSquare in most cases. “MY OPINION”. As people over there, whether agreeing or disagreeing, will actually engage in a dialogue rather than over here where it’s a “You’re wrong, there’s no reasoning, i’ve had enough of you and this conversation MUTED” response.
Disappointing to say the least because there is great discussion to be had sometimes.
@lokozar but he was being interviewed and asked a question so he answered it 😂
I don’t understand your beef.
“like any other decent person”? Do other decent people get interviewed and say “actually I think I won’t answer this question this reporter has asked me, instead i’ll do a forum post”. Is that what you wanted him to do?
Even if he did a forum post, or tweet, or Reddit AMA, it would likely have still been reported. Still commented on in an article here on PureXbox and you’d still be here saying the same thing. He’s gets highlighted because he’s a developer, someone “important” in the industry.
So? Should he nor anyone else in notable postion ever talk now and answer a question with an opinion 😂😂 should Phil Spencer keep his mouth shut too? Or Reggie, or Shu?
People saying he should keep his mouth shut, he was likely asked a question and gave his thoughts. Now PureXbox is reporting on what he’s said. Isn’t this what happens with journalism?
Seems like people don’t understand how interviews, and reporting on interviews works 😂
Can’t say he’s that completely wrong imo, but to some degree he is, as some people, like the first guy, would not have played his game without EA joining GP 🤷🏻♂️
The media completely hijacked the original games release in classic media fashion, dumping on video games and saying they aren’t mature enough and it was too soon.
The latter may have been true but it’s a story that was being handled with care and input from people who actually fought on the frontline.
Glad to see this make a return as it’s a story that is not really touched in major media forms unlike other battles/wars.
@Dandare4479 I don’t believe anyone other than MGM and Eon owns the rights to Bond. EA era is over a decade gone and Activision was the most recent creator of the games with IO now making one following Hitman 3.
I think the issue is more about who actually wants to make a Bond game and has a good enough pitch, which IO clearly did.
Plus I feel like a GoldenEye remake would not be as successful as people think. People want a remake but they don’t actually want one. The style of GoldenEye is a great nostalgia trip, but it’s gameplay idea is dated.
The above people in question didn’t predict the Bethesda acquisition though as the first reddit comment suggests?
Regardless, it wouldn’t surprise me for Xbox to be thinking about another big purchase. They need to get some big games out to strengthen their push of customers to GP.
Yeah if anyone isn’t from the UK here, completely ignore GAMINGBible. They are the gaming department of the most clickbaity, fall from grace company on the Internet.
@Tharsman well Days gone was panned by Critics but loved by fans who played it.
The game was a product of a flawed and buggy build that reviewers played at least a month before official release without patches. The day one patch mostly resolved the majority of issues listed in reviews.
That said, The Medium being the only big Xbox game for a while might find great success being on GP. And could see itself as being what Days Gone did become, a critically panned but beloved game by fans.
@orionreplay yeah I only say because I do use the share button quite often and a number of times i’ve done ‘press to screenshot’ but its video captured instead and vice versa.
So I have double checked and dabbled in the settings myself on a few occasions to make sure
It seems the usual children have entered the chat above as always. Shoutout to king troll Keltic 😉
Anyway...
The value of GP is great though I can see many finding issue with price increases, especially for XBL and those who only play certain games.
I think this price increase is definitely a strategy to phase out XBL though I’d have preferred Xbox to just get rid all together rather than this, and incorporate it into GPU.
It’s definitely a price increase that will only upset some, most have probably already got their subs in for a long time to come.
Well they already openly admitted to knowing the game was going to launch in poor condition, on video, so hopefully not too hard to find them guilty in the courts.
@gollumb82 true but if 66% (251 votes) go in favour of it being confusing on a site for Xbox fans and die-hards, imagine the confusion for an average consumer buying for themselves or a loved one. Thats enough info to present a case. I know the difference, but my dad has already questioned it with me once or twice in the past, even friends into gaming have asked.
@LtSarge no problem mate, it’s annoying to see someone present evidence to support a case but be ignored anyway. Happens too much on here and PushSquare tbh.
But you’re 100% right. People react with hostility towards someone who appears hostile. Fares is known for being outspoken and saying how he feels openly. But the message behind the words is the key component being missed for sure
@gollumb82 in his first post he literally linked to a PureXbox article where Amazon sales of another console had drastically increased at time of pre orders going live for Series X and a vote which was conducted on this site.

Re: Descenders Dev Says Xbox Game Pass Helped The Game Sell 'A Ton'
This is actually a criminally overlooked game.
Played through it on GP and bought it on my PS4 too. Hours of fun to be had with a great achievements/trophy list.
There are 4 bonus levels that are basically bmx wipeout and it’s so difficult but incredibly rewarding when you get to the finish.
Highly recommend!

PlayStation 5 being missed makes sense as a number of games seem to be having this issue.

Hopefully a good few years and not getting dropped months after release.
Re: It's Official, Outriders Is Coming To Xbox Game Pass At Launch
Good get for GP.
Game would be DOA without, especially after the bang average demo/beta they released.
Will be fun with friends on GP though.
Re: Xbox Is Reportedly 'Heavily Involved' With Big Third Party Studios For Future Exclusives
Remember when Phil didn’t like the idea of exclusives, “not what gaming is about” 😂😂 how times change.
No surprise really if this info is true. GP is the only way forward for Xbox and it needs some new, wider reaching and strong exclusives imo

Re: Guide: Microsoft Now Has 23 Xbox Game Studios, And Here They Are
Really is beneficial looking at the list that they acquired Bethesda cause its was gunna be pretty empty on releases for a while.
Although exclusives aren’t necessarily important for Xbox anymore with GP focus.
