We're big fans of the destruction-fuelled Wreckfest here at Pure Xbox, but if there's one criticism we have of it, it's that it doesn't run particularly well at just 30FPS. Well, as of today, that has all changed on Xbox Series X!
Developer BugBear Entertainment has confirmed the game has now been upgraded to 4K at 60 frames per-second on Xbox Series X, but it's only Xbox Series X - the Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5 have not received the same upgrade, although the Xbox Series S version is confirmed to now run at 4K, 30 frames per-second.
"We also have good news for the owners of the new, shiny Xbox Series X. We're happy to let you know that we have added specific support for this serious piece of hardware, meaning that from now on you get to enjoy Wreckfest rendered at 60fps in the full glory of 4K. Obviously 60fps makes a significant difference in a racing game, so if you're lucky enough to own a Series X what are you waiting for!"
In addition to the Xbox Series X upgrade, a new tournament has also been added to the game called Woodland Dash (you can watch the trailer above), along with new routes, a new car, and improvements and bug fixes.
Don't forget that Wreckfest was recently added to Xbox Game Pass, so you can check out this upgrade right now if you're a subscriber to the service. We think 60 frames will make a huge difference to the game!
Happy to see Wreckfest getting a 60FPS boost? Let us know down in the comments below.

Odd decision for the Series S - especially when 4K really isn't the selling point there.
Ooooh. Got this on my HDD after downloading it last week. Will have a blast on this the weekend.
I fell off Wreckfest pretty quickly; I wasn't fussed on the handling and one mistake basically makes a race unwinnable.
I have been enjoying Wreckfest quite a bit. I started playing it thinking it would be a weekend distraction and ended up playing it for a few weeks.
I have this on PlayStation 4 but may have to download it through GamePass now thanks to this nice upgrade.
This game is underrated.
@Luigi_Skywalker "although the Xbox Series S version is confirmed to now run at 4K, 30 frames per-second."
@GamingFan4Lyf whoops! I missed that
Hmm downloaded it and not showing under optimised for Series X/S on dashboard. Thought I was going mad then read this about Series S exclusion.
Odd that I am sure its capable of pulling off 4k at 60 fps on a racer.
@VenomousAlbino you can press Y to reset and still have a chance.
I’m loving this game and the 60 fps update will make it even more enjoyable!
Please give Series S a 1080p/60fps option. That’s what we all really want!
PlayStation 5 being missed makes sense as a number of games seem to be having this issue.
But to me this seems like the Series S is being skipped for a reason. Makes you wonder what the longevity of that console is 🤔
Hopefully a good few years and not getting dropped months after release.
Mine updated, but then there is no FPS boost option available in compatibility settings. Did the game itself just boost it or what's going on?
