I'm about 17 hours in, and I've mostly enjoyed it. It's a really pretty game, the quests are fun, and the writing is solid.
The things that have bothered me so far:
When I try to listen to a conversation, talking people will walk by, and they'll cut off that conversation with their own conversation. I know it adds to the immersion to have people talking naturally like that, but I think I would prefer to have to initiate the listening - especially since some of these conversations mark the start of quests.
I wish I could make the subtitles bigger. They're a bit difficult to see on my TV.
Some of the voice acting is a bit rough.
I ran into a bug where a fast travel tip got stuck to the top of the screen. To dismiss it, I had to go to a planet and take off my helmet so that the message would be replaced with a warning about that.
Nothing too bad. The first one is really the only one that is still bugging me. I've accepted/gotten used to the others. And none of them are too bad. I'm sure I'll be putting at least another 100 hours in and enjoying that time.
I bought the Series X for Starfield. If it wasn't for Starfield, I would have gotten a PS5 instead. I love Bethesda games, and I didn't want to go without them this generation.
The two games I've spent the most time with on the Series X so far were Octopath Traveler and Persona 4 Golden, and I don't think of those as traditional Xbox games. I'm looking forward to Cities Skylines 2, Clockwork Revolution, Avowed, and Outer Worlds 2, but none of those would have shifted the needle the way Starfield did.
This article taught me that my Series X has a disc drive lol. I guess that makes sense, but I've been using it since December, and I never noticed. I mean if it didn't, then I guess there wouldn't be games for it in stores.
