Starfield has finally arrived on Xbox Game Pass after what's felt like an eternity of waiting, and the Xbox boss is well aware of what Bethesda has had to go through to get this game out the door.
In a post on Twitter, Phil Spencer congratulated Bethesda Game Studios on the launch of Starfield. The Xbox Boss called their release an "incredible achievement" as the game becomes available to all on Xbox, PC and Game Pass.
We have to agree with Phil's sentiment here. While we've not got all the way through the game just yet, we can already tell that this is a mammoth RPG that's been painstakingly crafted over at Bethesda. Those extra months of development have made the final launch feel very special indeed.
Here at PX we hope you're all enjoying your time with Starfield so far, and equally, we hope you continue to enjoy it for months to come! As for the teams over at Microsoft and Bethesda, we hope this is indeed the "starting gun" for a bright future on Xbox.

well its a big achievement to make PS fanboy cry day and night XD
Enjoyed my first 6-8hrs in the game so far. Its a 'typical' Bethesda RPG - just in a more 'grounded' setting. Elder scrolls (Fantasy D&D type setting) and Fallout (post apocalypse alternative reality) both have the same 'similar' template underneath the surface.
The one thing that separates it from a typical Bethesda RPG launch is that this actually feels 'polished', feels 'solid' without major bugs/glitches or unoptimised performance. If you've played a Bethesda game before though, it will be a similar experience at its 'core' - for better or worse...
Surprised by the graphic fidelity, a huge leap compared to their previous games.
Only played an hour, so cannot give any definitive verdicts yet, but I have enjoyed the start
“They poured themselves into Starfield.”
Ew.
is about 12 hours in starfield and I like the game, personally I like the game a lot
I'm about 20 hours in so far and has some genuine wow moments or moments that make me laugh or smile which is very rare for games these days. I'm only on the 3rd story mission!
Enjoyed the game so far. But it's been incredibly overhyped. IGN was correct on being really a 7 out 10. Just the very typical Bethesda game, just set in space.
I'll still play thru. I'll still enjoy it. But it's not groundbreaking or raises the bar for a game. Especially in this current gen.
I love it. Still figuring out the easiest way to explore planets. But I ‘ll get there.
@GuyinPA75 its the typical bathesda game.....well thats in The DNA of bathesda and poeple love their games and you got lot to do on them and lot of freedom
I never heard people complaining about insomniac making 3 spideman games in 4 years that play alike or naughty dog making all those uncharted games looking alike
At least bathesda always creates huge worlds and give you lot tmof freedom in character creation and skills builds weapon build and settlements......not just go there hey go here cutscene press X...
To each their own i guess
Its not perfect but for a Bethesda launch its pretty well polished, only had 2 crashes and some pretty minor bugs that easily fixed themselves on a restart. Clearly MS buying Bethesda was a great move for the game as the delays and MS getting hands on done wonders. Easily a GOTY contender for me based on nearly 30 hours of play so far.
I'm anxious to finally try it over the weekend. Might not be my thing (as I'm not the biggest Bethesda game fan), but I'll at least give it few hours.
However, these congratulations and outpours of love are just a bit ridiculous. It's a good, maybe even great game. As all games with time and budget Bethesda had should be. Starfield is not a miracle, Redfall and similar are failures. Such outcome should be demanded from other Xbox teams, not celebrated as an exception.
@BBB Starfield Anniversary edition next year with 60 FPS and new DLC lol.
So far, so good. I'm about 4 hours in. Played 2 hours on my Steam Deck through the cloud with gyro aiming and another 2 hours on my Series X to see how it looks on my OLED display. While the game truly shines graphically on my 4K TV, of course, I kinda prefer to play in handheld mode with gyro controls. Either way, I have a better chance to get through this game with the option to play in portable mode.
@TakeItEasy My whole conversation is that starfield was really overhyped for what it is and not really groundbreaking or break much of the Bethesda mold. A lot that is on them by not following the 6 month rule. I'll play it one day for sure. But that will be ways away.
Was genuinely concerned about the 30fps announcement. I think I've been conditioned to expect nothing less than 60. This truly is the best implementation of 30fps I've seen in a long time. This game is so good, I feel like I did when I played Skyrim for the first time. Love it.
I'm about 17 hours in, and I've mostly enjoyed it. It's a really pretty game, the quests are fun, and the writing is solid.
The things that have bothered me so far:
Nothing too bad. The first one is really the only one that is still bugging me. I've accepted/gotten used to the others. And none of them are too bad. I'm sure I'll be putting at least another 100 hours in and enjoying that time.
For writing sure. The space travel feels like Ratchet Crack in Time (how Rift Apart felt a downgrade/too safe to appeal to fans, I am an old fan and wanted a safe downgrade) or Mass Effect galaxy map but even more limited and not exciting. It doesn't feel next gen. Other Indie space games focusing on that feel next gen (I define next gen by game design, not graphics).
Even as someone into old ideas, but reworked to be modern (Atlas Fallen/Immortals of Aveum are examples I didn't mind what they were going for and did some things well some things not) I don't mind that. I don't mind CRPGs I think Baulder's Gate 3 is an interesting game, table top but modernised is fair, Starfield is a Bethesda game but the other elements seem odd, the gunplay while does seem modern the other parts seem like it's trying to be a shooter but also a CRPG and it feels a bit confused.
It feels like when Mass Effect 2 changed how 1 was, did it improve sure did it completely change audiences they were appealing to also yes to be a shooter not an RPG. That's how Starfield seems to me. Not a bad thing just surprising.
Did they launch a game yes, is it good in areas yes, yes it is. But it has some confusing elements at times, it feels more limited in scope.
I don't believe in the marketing but I was still surprised what they were going for then what was possible.
Not saying it's a Forza can't do split screen but Ride 5 can (engine changes for sure with Forza, not Ride but still). But was just surprised we didn't get the sort of angle I was sort of hoping.
@GuyinPA75 So because it's a typical Bethesda game it deserves a 7 out of 10? Everyone wanted the typical Bethesda game in space. Outer worlds got a 8.5 out of 10 and that was absolute garbage in my eyes. Also other countries ign give starfield 9-10 out of 10. So the problem seems to fall with the Sony dickrider Dan Stapleton being the person to review starfield for ign.
