What's leaving Xbox Game Pass in May 2025? Well, Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but based on some games that were added to the service this time last year, we can at least make a few predictions ahead of time.
We know that a lot of Xbox users want more advance notice of games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft usually gives us around two weeks right now - and don't forget, publishers sometimes secure late deals with Microsoft to keep their games on Game Pass, even after they've been announced to be leaving!
So, before we take a look at the following list of potential games leaving Xbox Game Pass in May 2025, we want to stress that nothing has been confirmed yet, and this will not be a 100% accurate list by any means. Some of these games might leave, some of these games might stay, and many others might be added to the list.
The most common (but definitely not the only) trend with Xbox Game Pass seems to be that games stick around for one year, so we've gone back to May 2024 to look at the games that were added to Game Pass at the time. That said, we've also added a few games from the May 2023 list as well. Based on those original announcements, here's what we think could potentially leave Xbox Game Pass in May 2025:
Date It Joined Xbox Game Pass | Game | Platform |
May 23, 2023 | Planet of Lana | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 25, 2023 | Cassette Beasts | Console |
May 2, 2024 | Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 7, 2024 | Kona 2: Brume | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 9, 2024 | Little Kitty, Big City | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 14, 2024 | Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 15, 2024 | Chants of Sennaar | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 23, 2024 | Galacticare | Series X|S, PC, Cloud |
May 23, 2024 | Hauntii | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 28, 2024 | Moving Out 2 | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 30, 2024 | Humanity | Console, PC, Cloud |
May 30, 2024 | Lords of the Fallen | Series X|S, PC, Cloud |
As usual, there could be plenty of additions to this list, and a few of these games might stick around for Xbox Game Pass for even longer, but it seems likely that we'll lose at least some of these in May 2025. Our predictions usually turn out to be anywhere from 30%-80% correct - you never know how accurate they'll be!
It's still early days for April 2025's Xbox Game Pass lineup, but we already know of some amazing additions on the way including South of Midnight and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - so it's going to be a fun and busy month!
Which of these games do you think will leave Xbox Game Pass in May 2025? Tell us down below.

Already bought Planet of Lana, Chants of Sennar, Cassette Beasts and Humanity. All excellent games.
Good riddance on Lords of the Fallen after their second class citizens approach of the Xbox version compared to the PS5. I didn't even dignified the developer with a GamePass download...
I really loved the first half of Lords of the Fallen, but it overstayed it's welcome a bit and then the completely non existent ending pissed me off. I understand there are multiple endings but I'm sure as hell not going to play through again to find out if they're good.
I liked the first half enough to be excited for the sequel.
What was the difference between the PlayStation and Xbox versions, @Sol4ris?
Planet of Lana is brilliant. I'd just finished it when I joined here, which is why my profile pic is from the game.
I should probably play through lords of fallen before it goes. I beat the one from 2014 and thought it was pretty good.
It took CI games months to bring the game into a playable state with the Xbox version always getting the performance patches last compared to PS5 & PC.
DF mentioned some of the issues within their analysis at the time too. Personally I'm pretty much done with devs releasing Xbox games (SX) not
on par with PS5 as a bare minimum requirement.
I don't normally like Pokémon-style games but after trying Cassette Beasts on Game Pass I fell in love with the vibe and aesthetic and bought it after playing it for half an hour. Lovely game.
Asif its been a year since hauntii😮 best get it done started it but got into something else at the time
Sheesh it’s hard to keep up with all the stuff leaving
