Xbox Glitch Sees Alan Wake Remastered Get 100% Discount

Update []: It seems this discount is no longer available for most players, suggesting that it definitely was a glitch (as expected!) and not an intended freebie for Xbox fans. It remains to be seen what Xbox will do next - there's every chance the game's license will be revoked for anyone who claimed it at 100% off.

Original Story: Earlier this week, we highlighted a fantastic Alan Wake 2 deal that bundled in Alan Wake Remastered as a free bonus game - and now Xbox users appear to have found a glitch with the system that allows them to claim the remaster without making a purchase at all.

Thanks to Alan Wake 2's inclusion with Free Play Days this week, folks are finding that you can claim the free copy of Alan Wake Remastered via its free trial. Basically, you add the trial to your account through the Alan Wake 2 store page, head on over to Alan Wake Remastered on the Xbox Store, and the latter should be totally free to claim.

Here's the example image that alerted us to this earlier today:

Now, we assume this isn't supposed to be happening - Xbox's intention here was likely to give Alan Wake Remastered away to new players who purchase the full version of Alan Wake 2 in the Lunar New Year sale. Therefore, this free access to the first Alan Wake could be revoked at a later time, but we aren't sure on that right now.

In the meantime though, this all appears to still be live at the time of posting, with fans claiming to be getting this 'free' Alan Wake deal right now on the Xbox Store. We'll keep a close eye on this one to see if this is intentional or not, and whether Xbox users get to keep their free copies of Alan Wake Remastered.
