It's that time again! Microsoft has officially revealed the second batch of Xbox Game Pass titles for January 2025 today (as well as the first title for February) which includes 13 games in all - although some are already part of certain tiers.
Prior to now, it had already been confirmed that Eternal Strands, Sniper Elite: Resistance and Citizen Sleeper 2 would all be releasing 'day one' for Game Pass later this month, while Gigantic: Rampage Edition, Starbound, Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap, Shady Part of Me and Far Cry New Dawn are all also arriving on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for the first time.
The rest of the games in the list are now joining the Xbox Game Pass Standard tier, but have already been part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and/or PC Game Pass. This means they're not technically brand-new additions.
Don't forget that Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders is available today with Xbox Game Pass as well:
Here's what's been confirmed for Xbox Game Pass between January 22nd and February 4th:
Date | Game | Platforms |
January 22 | Flock | Xbox Game Pass Standard |
January 22 | Gigantic: Rampage Edition | Console, PC, Cloud |
January 22 | Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess | Xbox Game Pass Standard |
January 22 | Magical Delicacy | Xbox Game Pass Standard |
January 22 | Starbound | Console, Cloud |
January 22 | Tchia | Xbox Game Pass Standard |
January 22 | The Case of the Golden Idol | Xbox Game Pass Standard |
January 28 | Eternal Strands | Console, PC, Cloud |
January 28 | Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap | Series X|S, PC, Cloud |
January 28 | Shady Part of Me | Console, PC, Cloud |
January 30 | Sniper Elite: Resistance | Console, PC, Cloud |
January 31 | Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector | Console, PC, Cloud |
February 4 | Far Cry New Dawn | Console, PC, Cloud |
In addition to these, we know that six games will be leaving Xbox Game Pass in late January 2025 including the likes of Death's Door and Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem - and they'll all be at least 20% off on the Xbox Store until they depart. As for the incomings, Far Cry New Dawn joins Avowed as the two XGP titles confirmed for February so far.
Which of these upcoming Xbox Game Pass titles are you most excited for? Tell us in the comments.

Very respectable drop for the latter half of the month.
Very happy to see the new installment of orcs must die being added
Far Cry New Dawn is super fun but the story sucks. If you go with the right mindset it's a great experience.
@Lup Loved 5 but never played this because I heard it sucked.
Five new Day One games including some bangers like Sniper Elite: Resistance, Citizen Sleeper 2 and Eternal Strands. Great back half of the month!!!
Overall just slightly disappointed with January offerings… but there are some good games in there… looking forward to Starbound and CS2!
@Kaloudz
It's one of those games you play only for the gameplay tbh. And there's maybe one or two interesting characters but that's it. The story was 😴. Gameplay was as good or better than 5 imo.
Been abit 💩 last couple months for number of games as been making look bigger with standard and lacking indie/smaller games but this is looking better 😎 few decent bigger games and a few indie smaller games again what we've been missing lately hope it carries on like this 🙂
I actually really enjoyed Gigantic when it first came out several years ago. Played it a lot. Not sure if I'll dive back in but it definitely was fun for it's time. Otherwise the one that I'll probably check it is Sniper Elite.
Maybe I should go to standard. Everything seems to come to standard eventually, and playing stuff day one when it’s buggy asf doesn’t really matter to me anyway
@Lup I can live with that actually. I tend to skip cut scenes for games like this so that might actually work out pretty well. I was always a bit miffed with the ending of 5, despite loving everything else about it. Then again the same can be said about Wildlands. Fancy having players track down a bad guy through 40+ hours of play, for that ending.
@Kaloudz
Thanks for not spoiling it, I still have to play that one. Have it on the backlog. 😂👍🏻
Finally some games for Ultimate members, the first 20+ days of this month was a like a kick in the teeth for us with a single game new to the service.
@Lup You can actually ignore my comment 😅 I just read that Ubisoft patched in a different ending. Phew!!!
After some time where nithing was really hitting my personal preferences, my only issue with these releases is pacing. I can only play so much, I'm just one person! Eternal Strands, Citizen Sleeper 2 and Avowed all in rapid succession is a lot of game. Some others sound like maybes, but doubt I will have time to try them
Excited for a 4 player Orcs Must Die game.
Kind of in-between games at the moment (that doesn't happen often) so probably time to give Sniper Elite a go. Been meaning to play one of those for years so will try the newest one.
@FraserG Sorry to be dim, but what does it actually mean when a game becomes available on ‘Console’ ? (eg does it mean available on all Xbox consoles regardless of which Gamepass subscription they have?)
@Feffster It means available on console for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers (and occasionally Standard too).
We're going to have to re-jig how we format these articles to avoid confusion I think! Game Pass Standard has broken the system a bit 😅
finally some games I'm actually interested!
@FraserG - thanks for clarifying Fraser. My comment wasn’t a dig at you (or Pure Xbox) - I just think that it isn’t necessarily clear messaging (and presumably you are repeating the way Microsoft themselves make the announcements).
If you think about it logically you can see why Joe Public would be baffled -
Microsoft: “Game A is coming to Gamepass for Series X/S”
Microsoft: “Game B is coming to Gamepass for Console”
Gamer: “I have Gamepass and an Xbox console, does that mean I get the game to play Game A and Game B?”
Microsoft: “That depends, which console do you have?”
Gamer: “I have a Series X. Does that mean I get both games because it’s a bit weird you mention Series X/S specifically with Game A, but mention ‘Console’ with Game B - does that mean Game B is only available for last-gen consoles or is it on all consoles?”
Microsoft: “Er, no. Perhaps we should spell it out a bit more clearly.”
Gamer: “Oh, believe me, you should.”
Microsoft: “Well first of all, when we say Console we actually mean ‘all Xbox consoles, well more specifically all Xbox One consoles and all Xbox Series consoles, but not original Xbox consoles or Xbox 360 consoles’ - hope that’s clear?”
Gamer: “Much better. As I have a Series X I’m assuming I get both game A and game B?”
Microsoft: “Well that depends…”
Gamer: “On what?”
Microsoft: “Which level of Gamepass do you have?”
Gamer: “Gamepass Standard”
Microsoft: “Well no then, you get neither but on another occasion it could mean you get one, or both”
Gamer: “Clear As Mud, & Thanks - For Nothing!”
@Feffster Haha, agreed! I think we'll start adding an extra column to the table from now on to clarify which tiers the games are coming to - something along those lines.
@FraserG - thanks mate, and good luck! 👍
