One final round of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle previews have landed today - including ours, where we came away very impressed by what we played earlier this month. Alongside these previews, a few outlets have also posted some interviews with the dev team, and one from Windows Central confirms some welcome tech specs for Xbox Series X|S.
MachineGames says that while it's still figuring out the finer details, "the ambition is that the game runs at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S". The team is being conservative in saying that it "should" run smoothly at 60FPS on Xbox consoles, but we'd expect this to be fully locked in and confirmed before the game's December launch.
"It might be that we will release even more details in terms of specifics, technical details, as we get closer to launch, once we see all the telemetry on performance. But what I can tell you is that the ambition is that the game runs at 60 FPS on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and that, you know, it shouldn't be compromised in the visuals or the experience of the product. It should feel cohesive, running smoothly at 60 on both."
Just like the studio's Wolfenstein games, The Great Circle uses Bethesda's id Tech engine - a toolset that's very scalable and often delivers high frame rate results on console. In this case, then, it's not surprising to see a 60FPS target - and we hope that the team has the polish time needed to make this a reality on both Xbox consoles.
Our recent preview session took place on PC, where the game felt well-optimised as we edge closer to the title's Xbox Game Pass launch on December 9th. We'll drop a link to our preview write-up down below, alongside a behind-the-scenes feature of our day at Marshall College.

Good to hear with any game in First Person. Looking forward to this one, now too long now.
Excellent news! I literally waited until Starfield got a 60fps update to play more than a few hours. I don't care about resolution unless it's Switch-level resolution 🤣. I will play Indiana Jones at launch.
Great news 👍 & less than 6 weeks to release
They're saying that they're going with the "Marvel Studios" strategy of targeting their...overly ticklish 😂...fanbase with comedy .
Thank goodness. First person games NEED a high framerate or they kinda look like crap.
Brilliant machine games are the real deal goes to show when this game can do it then you get avowed 30 fps on the series x what a joke
Any official posts about Pro resolution/performance targets yet, or is it too early?
Will be good to see some series x footage at 60fps.
We know these previews are top end PC as it’s all the same footage and DF said so.
Game does look very good on that top end PC.
@Dan1283
That is a shame, Avowed at 60fps would have been brilliant.
We can but hope for a patch for Series x.
@Banjo-
Obviously will be playing day one on GPU.
So glad it’s 60fps.
Stalker is 60fps on Series x as well.
So we seem to be getting there.
Just wish Avowed was as well.
@Balaam_ I forget if it was IGN or Push Square but someone asked the Devs and they didn't have an answer on ps5 pro upgrade yet. Looks pretty sick as is though!
I expected 60fps as Machinegames built Wolfenstein to play at 60fps and Doom too is a 60fps game and both use the same Game Engine.
I don't have an issue with 30fps as most of the 'Best' games that win Game of the Year are 30fps games on Console so its something I've had lots of experience with. However, 60fps is preferable in most cases - although with some, the drop in Visual Quality for 'minimal' difference in feel is too much so I opt for 30fpps.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to playing it...
@OldGamer999 I'm looking forward to playing Avowed and of course the most anticipated reboot ever, Gears of War E-Day.
@Banjo-
E day best be amazing, we have definitely waited long enough for this.
Cannot wait. Looks amazing. Will get on PC day 1.
It's amazing what performance you can get by using good game engines, instead of garbage like UE5
@DEATH2SONY One day I will understand one of your posts 🤣
Great news for xbox players, all games should at least have a 60fps option (even if it runs on lower res)
