Polish developer Bloober Team dropped a bombshell at Xbox's Partner Preview event last week with the reveal of Cronos: The New Dawn - and it sounds like the upcoming Xbox title is a bit of a new dawn itself for the Silent Hill 2 studio.
In a new interview, the developer told GameSpot that it has "made some sh**ty games before" but it has now "evolved" - after the partnership with Konami. The team says that it will take the learnings from Silent Hill 2 into crafting its upcoming games, including Cronos: The New Dawn.
"It was tough for those couple of years before [Silent Hill 2's] release,
They made it. We made it. Bloober made it. And now, it's very good spirits inside. We want to show what we can do on our own, how we can evolve our ideas."
Cronos is coming to Xbox in 2025, and it sounds like a real treat for you horror fans out there. The studio is aiming to mix "Eastern European brutalism" with "retro-futurist technology" in its new IP, which is now full steam ahead after the initial launch of Silent Hill 2 - which is hopefully coming to Xbox itself somewhere down the line.
We've enjoyed most of what Bloober has cooked up (Layers of Fear, Blair Witch, The Medium), but the Konami remake does look like a step up for the studio, and we're hoping it can carry that into Cronos: The New Dawn and beyond. The upcoming Xbox title is expected to launch sometime next year.
