Capcom has been on a huge roll over the past few years with a string of incredible releases, but a couple of months ago there was controversy when it was revealed the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection wouldn't be coming to Xbox.
For now, this collection of classic games is only slated for Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Steam later in the year, and it's seemingly due to Capcom's MT Framework engine not being particularly compatible with modern Xbox consoles.
Despite this, Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto recently spoke to IGN about the launch of the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection, indicating that there's interest to bring more classic fighting games to "modern consoles":
"We have a lot of other legacy fighting games that we know fans out there really want them to be re-released again on modern platforms. And the feeling is mutual on the development side. We want people to get to know all these other classic games."
"We want all our classic games to be available for modern consoles because we just want to be able to reach as many people who may have never had the opportunity to play these games back in the day. So we constantly think forward and we want to make sure that it's as accessible as possible for all audiences."
So, perhaps there's hope after all? If Xbox could step in and work with Capcom to find a solution for these re-releases, there's every chance the Marvel Vs. Capcom Fighting Collection along with other classics could hit Xbox eventually.
Of course, this is an isolated incident when it comes to Capcom releases on Xbox — their games don't usually skip the platform — so it'd be great to see the two parties work together to resolve this issue in the future.

Xbox with their demands for Series versions of all games still baffles me. This is an easy slam dunk. Losing out on this is a pretty big deal breaker. The same goes for the Pixel Remasters of FF. But that may be some kind of exclusivity.
According to Capcom "Xbox is not a modern console then?", if the game exclusively not in xbox
Why couldn't Capcom just release its entire arcade library on the Arcade Stadium over time?!
Capcom had the perfect avenue to release everything in one place using a DLC pack structure.
I always thought that Arcade Stadium 2 was odd as Capcom could have just continued adding games to the first one.
Oh wait...money.
@rhyno_888 there is well documented issues on why some games haven’t ported.
And in my personal opinion I don’t think there are enough sales on Xbox (as they aren’t exactly huge sellers) that is making either MS or Capcom to try and remedy the issues.
As a primarily Nintendo console gamer, this is hilarious to me.
If I could insert it, I'd post the "First time?" Meme.
