In recent weeks, Capcom has announced multiple re-releases that are straight up skipping Xbox consoles, with the company's 'MT Framework' tech reportedly the reason behind some of these Xbox omissions. Last week's announcement of SNK Vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos has brought the topic up once again, with multiple sources addressing the situation this week.
Following up on a previous report from June, Windows Central's Jez Corden has again mentioned the tech issue on a recent episode of The Xbox Two podcast. Corden says that "Microsoft is actively working on it with Capcom" and that the Japanese developer skipping Xbox over a tech issue "is not a great look" for Microsoft.
However, in a small slice of Xbox rumour-mill drama, XboxEra has chimed in as well. The outlet's Shpeshal Nick claims that he's also asked a Microsoft source about this, and that their response leads him to believe that the real reason behind the Capcom omissions is that "these games don't sell" on Xbox.
As usual with this sort of thing, it's best to take it all with a big old pinch of salt, with a lot of this sounding like speculation as much as anything else. All we really know for sure is that something is preventing certain Capcom games from hitting Xbox - with the company seemingly picking and choosing what launches on Xbox and what doesn't.

Most likely the MT framework.
But for both sides there probably also isn’t great enthusiasm to remedy it, due to the cost for low sales ( it’s not exactly going to be a top seller on other platforms either)
Can’t blame Capcom or SNK for skipping XBox on some titles, frankly.
I think both theories are correct. The low sales makes capcom addressing the MT issue not worth it. They don't want to dedicate resources to this if the games aren't going to sell. So microsoft is lending a hand to avoid as much of the negative PR of a major publisher "skipping" xbox as possible (even though it is a niche game and genre for the xbox crowd).
Just like jrpgs, this is a weird chicken or the egg situation for xbox and publishers. You can't sell games where there is no audience for those games and you can't build that audience without games in that genre being there.
MS is not in a position to play it safe.
Xbox is quickly becoming the console of no exclusives and few 3rd party games. Most powerful gaming console means nothing when all you have are buggy Bethesda games and random indies.
There's also the huge issue of MS blocking most third party controllers which rules out all kinds of fight sticks etc (outside of a handful of licensed controllers). The situation is still problematic on the PlayStation side, but nowhere near to this level.
@Sifi ah the Sony card.
The deflection technique for when you have no defence.
Article has nothing to do with Sony. So why PX let you peddle nonsense all the time is beyond me.
@Sifi
It’s clear that Nintendo has won the console war. I’m no fan of Sony m, but did they commit to end having exclusives?
I remember somewhere hearing that but can’t find my og source
Not that much of a loss to be honest. Regardless of the reason, the original release was not very good. (It was on xbox then, and I made the poor decision of buying it)
Love fighting games, but some should remain buried in the sands of time.
Whether or not it's MT Framework or Capcom just not wanting to release on XBOX, the amount of games that are 'chicken and egg' problems is rising, and Microsoft DO need to fix that.
If Microsoft do nothing, they could lose Capcom and other companies entirely as companies decide to use the current update 'bug' to declare that they are skipping new content on XBOX or not releasing at all 'until the bug is fixed', when it's really that Microsoft is not getting good sell-through because, hey, less and less people are making that first commitment.
@Sifi Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure the number of current-gen console exclusives available for PS5 is larger than the current-gen console exclusives for XBox.
That isn't even the topic being discussed, anyway.
considering all the Resident Evil games from Resident Evil 4(2005) up to Resident Evil Revelations 2 were all running on MT Framework and all work 100% on Xbox One and Series X|S consoles
I call BS
Meh. SF is dead to me.
As an owner of a Xbox Series X, and a One X a few years ago, I am one of those people who never buys games for the platform. Game Pass games are the only ones in the library. PlayStation is where all of my purchases and most of my play time goes, along with Switch whenever a new Xenoblade or Zelda game comes out.
