As expected, we were treated to a fresh look at Obsidian's Avowed at the Xbox Games Showcase 2024 yesterday, but the trailer didn't come with any kind of release date beyond just "2024". Now though, it seems we've got one!
Following the event, Obsidian accidentally mentioned a release date of November 12th, 2024 for Avowed on the company's official website, before removing it shortly afterwards. Here's a look at the proof:
Obviously there's a chance this date could be an old one, and perhaps it was just left in a draft by mistake, but we're crossing our fingers that Obsidian will make the November launch official in the near future.
Whatever the case may be, Avowed is at least expected to arrive on Xbox and PC (as well as Game Pass) at some point this year, so barring any last-minute delays, we've only got a few months left until we get our hands on it!

But why? With everything else announced, I’m making plans for what to buy now. Just waiting on that Direct to make that plan concrete. Seems weird to hide that info
Let’s hope we will be Awowed. The trailer looked great and even though I’m not a huge fantasy rpg fan (I did play The Witcher and Baldur’s Gate, those are milestones in gaming history for a reason) but I will definitely be playing this when it comes out.
They must not be certain they can hit that date yet and want to be able to give themselves a week or two (or more) if they need it. They do seem confident in 2024 still so I doubt it would miss it by much if they do.
Xbox clearly wants to avoid public delays if at all possible.
There’s an in-depth look at the game scheduled for today. I bet it was supposed to be (and will likely be) announced then.
It does really piss me off with these companies when they know a date and act all secret about it, maybe to do with the competition etc.
I bet all the companies could tell us dates of games definitely releasing in 2024 but they keep it all secret.
obsidian is one of the few western devs that can make a pretty woman. hope she is a companion.
@somnambulance Just buy gamepass. 👍
@somnambulance November is looking stacked as is tbh. Black Ops 6 would have been out 1 week by the time we get there, Metaphor and Undisputed early October, and then you have AC: Shadows and Microsoft Flight Sim 2024. Maybe they're approaching November with caution accounting for any releases that might end up landing that week. If it's clear, I reckon they'll be confident dropping it that week as planned. If not, then it'll probably get pushed back a couple weeks (26th November latest). December is something I expect they will leave completely open for Indy and Indy alone.
I was pleasantly surprised by the state of this game : it just looks so colorful and fun ! I'm liking it !
@OM1993 @Nexozi I just resubbed to Gamepass yesterday! Xbox won me back with the showcase.
Honestly, AC Shadows looks better to me than Avowed. I’m going to be subbed by that time, so I suppose it doesn’t matter, but I do budget my time out. I’m waiting for the Nintendo Direct, but I’m starting to feel ready to preorder my games for the rest of the year (if I’m buying games). 2025 is already looking stacked too, so things that get left behind now might be left behind for a while.
Life is Strange/Dragon Ball/Silent Hill/Sonic in October practically booted Metaphor out of my gaming calendar for this year, and to be honest Life is Strange getting announced firmly put Silent Hill and maybe even Sonic potentially on the wayside. LiS and Dragon Ball is definitely going to keep me busy. If Avowed and Indy are November/December, great, I’ve got time for them.
@OldGamer999 They may have a target date but it's not a committed date yet. Or it could be related to marketing deals, competitive reasons, etc. Until it's "gone gold", no date is a lock.
@gollumb82 "Let’s hope we will be Awowed."
Ooooofffff....
watching the deep dive...
confirms 3rd person view! excellent
Still not sold on this game but I will give it a try in gamepass.
I think they will change the date because AC: Shadows is at the same period, the game after the deep dive seems finished and they're doing polishing for the rest of 6 months, so I don't think there is a problem with the game rather the tight schedule of game releases at the end of the year
