We're still waiting on a release date for Obsidian's Avowed after today's Xbox Games Showcase, but at least we've got a new glimpse at it! Above, you can check out the "Story Trailer" featuring a mix of in-game footage and cinematics.
Update: Obsidian appears to have (accidentally) revealed an Avowed release date for November 2024.
We'll also throw some more details that have emerged alongside this Story Trailer down below:
"Coming in 2024. Explore the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger. As an envoy of Aedyr, you are sent to investigate rumors of a spreading plague with a secret that threatens to destroy everything. Can you save the island and your soul from the forces threatening to tear them apart?"

I still want to try it, but I feel like every time I see Avowed, I’m less interested in it. Wish Avowed and Indy had release dates. Seems weird to not have them at this point. Makes you wonder why they’re waiting to announce that info.
Why has it taken them this long to make this game look decent?
I’m confused. Where are the jrpgs and indie stuff? Is there a different show for that still coming? I was expecting Atlus, square Enix, mistwalker.
Worst showing yet. I’ll play 100% it but they seem to be able to make it look worse everytime they show it
Avowed and Indy both look great tho. Hope they don’t screw up the gameplay.
As I said on the live chat, Avowed looks way better now than the last time it was shown and that is excellent. I think that the gameplay will be solid and the game fun.
I don't get why people are so negative about this game. Why are you playing Obsidian games for graphics? This is an RPG, and we got a decent deep dive into the mechanics last time.
@somnambulance they'll have one eye on release date announcements for other third party big bitters and time them accordingly I think.
@Jaxx420 They also want to announce exact dates when the developer knows when they're finished. We are getting Avowed and Indiana Jones this year. That's quite a lot. I expected Indiana Jones to be delayed. I don't want to jinx it. Next year Fable, also earlier than I expected and we have finally seen Perfect Dark!
@Banjo- I don't know, coming out of the showcase with no dates for Starfield DLC, Avowed, or Indy, combined with Ara and Towerbourne not even being at the show makes me think something gets pushed to next year.
@InvaderFromSpace All of that is expected for this year, but who knows... On the other hand, I prefer that any of them is delayed than a 60fps re-release six months later. They need to launch games when they are already optimised, for better reception.

I'm still really uneasy about this game, two instances where they showed gameplay that just looked kind of bad. Now this with spliced highlighted gameplay........

@rustyduck If they get delayed, 2025 just gets thicker for Xbox. Honestly, this showcase let me know I’ll actually have enough to play for the rest of the year, though I’m not sure what I’ll play this summer. Got a feeling I’ve got til September of waffling and waiting outside Erdtree… if I can even get to the DLC. Why oh why did I not beat Mogh when I was good at the game!?😅

Hmm, apparently now they’ve removed the 11/12 date from their site. Ughh…
There’s a deep dive tomorrow. Maybe they’ll announce it there.
